Hello Walking Dead Fans and YWS’er alike! This is Zephion and FermentingFruit here to introduce yet another amazing storybook to you.

This storybook is based on the world of the walking dead. We are set in Maine at the beginning of the Zombie outbreak, but these aren’t just any Zombies, here’s how they work.

1. If a Zombie bites you or scratches you, you get sick and you die.

2. If you die (for any reason) you will come back as a Zombie, unless…

3. The only way to take out a Zombie it to damage the brain. If you do this to a dead person before they die or reanimate they will not come back.

Sounds easy right, well it’s not, because there’s more. In addition to worrying about Zombies you must worry about your supplies (food, water, protection) which are limited due to the apocalypse.

You can choose between two groups:

Group A (Led by Zephion):

This group is stationed in a mall that is protectable, but large and dangerous. We have access to food and clothing and any of the abandoned cars in the parking lot that we manage to start. There is a gun store down the road a few miles, so we have access to weapons too.

Group B (Led by FermentingFruit):

This is a nomadic group, meaning they don’t ever stay in one place. They might camp for the night, but they find a new place by morning. To get supplies, they make runs into the city, which is fairly overrun by walkers, but their group knows the way around well.

Now, just because you pick one group doesn’t mean that you won’t see any of the members of the other one. These two groups will interact, whether it is a friendly interaction or a violent one is up to you.

So that’s the idea, I will warn you beforehand that there will be a lot of death. Characters will be dying, but please don’t kill off other people’s characters without their permission.

Rules:
Swearing is allowed, but no F-Bombs, and don't overuse it.
Romance is allowed, no sex.
No god modding
Regular YWS rules
If you join, we expect you to stay active with it.

Lefty Fontana

Character Profile below:

Spoiler
Name: Benny "Lefty" Fontana

Group: B (Nomadic)

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Physical Description: A little under average height. He has a low body-fat percentage and is strong and tough-skinned from years of manual labor on the docks. He is a mixture of Italian, Dutch, and Scottish, and speaks in a minimalistic accent. He has dark hair, which, while naturally oily, had become dry from the brine of the bay. Keeps the beard off, but doesn't care that much about personal hygiene.

He typically wears work pants or jeans and t-shirts and one or two course sweaters, along with a jacket that says "Bromaldi Fishing Co." on it, work gloves, and a hat in the colder weather of Maine.

Personality: Quiet, calm, and calculating. He seems very calm and collected upon viewing, but his eyes are always rapidly moving, and he is thinking about everything going on. While not the sharpest tool on the block, he isn't and idiot, and can judge situations practically. He is somewhat blunt and gruff, and isn't the nicest guy, even if he isn't obnoxious.

History: Benny grew up in a household of five kids, two of which died of pneumonia at an early age. His mother also died when he was young because of lung and other cancer. His father was an alcoholic, who worked in the food processing factories in a coastal Maine fishing port. He grew up in a working class part of the city which was mainly made up of Irish and Italian communities. He did not take school seriously, and did not hope for secondary education.

At age 17, after graduating from the sub-par local high school, he left the house and stayed with friends' families, renting out rooms in their places of business until he could save enough to live on his own. He started out working in a local deli, until the cutler, who had connections to the Mob who operated the docks, got him a job working in the shipyard. Benny worked in the shipyard for the rest of his normal life, loading and unloading ships and occasionally processing the fish and goods that came in through the cargo that arrived from the Sea. He ended up living in an apartment above an Italian diner. He earned some extra money by playing cards and pool, both of which were made easy by his analytical mind. His life was dull, and he spent free time in bars and playing soccer with his buddies.

At one point, the Mob, whom he had friends in, even knowing the Don of his yard on a first-name basis (well, the Don called him Benny, Benny didn't call the Don Raphael.), offered him and his friend Tim Dean a job doing a little more than packing ships. He was to enforce tax collection. Thinking it wasn't the right choice, Benny and his friend refused the elicit job offer. However, this angered the people who were prepared to cash in favors and pull strings to get him the job, and tensions built between him and his Mafia guardians.

Benny was at work when the Zombie outbreak took a huge turn for the worse. It was a stormy day in the docks, and ships were parking farther down the piers than usual, increasing the risk of injury for the shipyard workers. People were acting very crazy, all over, and Benny was getting a little worried. He tried to continue to do the work though, siphoning off the Mob's cut of the fish, when a huge ship crashed straight into the docks ahead, severing the pier and sending almost a dozen workers fatally into the crashing water below.

At first, he tried to help injured people get off the breaking ships in the chaotic mess of the yard, but it soon became clear that some were not alive. But they were still living. Attacked by two ex-Seamen turned zombies, he fought them off and was able to make it through the maze of warehouses to the town border, and found Tim "Righty" Dean somewhere along the way. They both split for home, scared poopless at the way things were going in the city, cars crashing and the undead walking around. They grabbed supplies from their apartments and headed out of the city on stolen bikes.

The eventually met up with the rest of group B, who always seemed to find the pair slightly untrustworthy. Likewise, the pair was uneasy around the others, naturally mistrustful. Still, they provided valuable resources and help to the group as they began to travel.

Relation to Other Characters: He is best friends with Righty Dean. The two worked on the docks together for a long time and went to school together in their home town. The two were an odd, but tough pair. Benny's reasonable, calm personality counteracted Righty's run and gun, fight or flight hotheadedness.

There is also a connection with Omniyus' character somehow, but I don't know what it is yet.

I'm afraid that that would get a bit complicated. Let's stick with one for now. Maybe if your character dies you can start another one in the other group.

Name: Bobby Brooke

Group: Group A

Gender: Female

Age: 20

Physical Description: Bobby is 5"6 and nearly dangerously underweight. She has the physical fitness of a ballerina. She has thin legs and arms, and too weak to do anything dealing with strength. Her skin is pale and her face is always set in a default expression of "do-not-care". Her hair is dyed pink and is usually piled on top of her head in a big, messy bun. Her eyes, always half-closed, are framed with thick eyelashes are are dark green. She has freckles spotting her face and wears little to no makeup. She mostly wears dresses, formal collared shirts, skirts, or shorts. She doesn't own any jeans or t-shirts.

The only picture that really matched Bobby's description is a doll. Hope this isn't a problem.

Spoiler
Image

Personality: Stoic. She doesn't show any emotion really. Her face is always blank. Mostly she's daydreaming, but sometimes she just stares and her mind is blank. She doesn't like talking so she avoids it most times. She's not one to engage conversation, and would be hard pressed to maintain one. The most you'll get out of her is a few passive statements. She doesn't like talking more than she feels is necessary, and she deems a lot of things unnecessary. She really doesn't have to talk, though, she has a way of letting you know how she feels.

Anyway, she's always chewing on her bubblegum so her mouth is occupied.

History (Where did you come from, where were you during the outbreak): Bobby was born into a very prestigious family. She was not to speak unless first spoken to, and not to wear "poor-people" clothes. She wasn't allowed to attend parties, go to school, or have friends outside those children friends of her parents had. She was required to attend ballet and piano classes with the free time she had when she wasn't being taught by her tutor - which was most of the time. At the age of sixteen she was allowed marginal freedom. She started a private school and quickly made friends because of her parents status. Her first act of rebellion against her parents was adopting the habit of chewing bubblegum. Her mother thought it a nasty habit so it quickly became an addiction of Bobby's. Her second act of rebellion was dying her hair pink. Her parents protested, but she kept the trend. At eighteen Bobby moved out of her parents house and in with her Aunt, who was more lax than her parents. She attended a University and though she was surrounded by a wider variety of people, she retained her "prestigious" ways. She, to this day, has never worn a pair of jeans or a t-shirt, keeps up with her ballet, and doesn't speak unless spoken to and sometimes not even then.

During the outbreak she was practicing late at her dance studio. She in the middle of her cool down stretches when a zombie ambled in through the door. She was confused, but not stupid enough to stick around and wait for more to come. She grabbed her duffle bag of clothes and ran out through the back exit and back to her aunt's house where she found her aunt was already infected. She didn't know what to do, so she ran out until she found a quiet place to hole up and generally panic. (Zephion's Character) was the first to find her and the only one she trusts in this whole ordeal. She follows them around like a puppy and rarely lets them out of her sight.

Relation to Other Characters: None really... ?

I'm obviously going to have a guy in the nomadic group, as the leader.
Save time... see it my way.

And try to remember, this isn't just a shoot em up SB, it will be strategy too, because there are limited number of resources, and lots of surprises I've got in store for all of you, that will push you and your character(s).

In that case, save me a spot for Group B :D

Name: Tim 'Righty' Dean

Group: B

Gender Male

Age: 25

Physical Description: Looks like he's still in his teens. He always has a black t-shirt on with shorts, and occasionally throws on his "Bromaldi Fishing Co." jacket when it gets cold. He has a slight tan from working on the docks so often, and a rather slim build. His black hair contrasts with his blue eyes and his dark lips are almost as black as his small goatee.

Personality: A run and gun type of guy. He a hopeless optimist who'll make friends with anyone he sees, at the same time speaking anything that's on his mind. He'll be the first one to comfort anyone who's sad and the last person to ditch someone to save himself.

History: Grew up as an only child in a wealthy middle-class family. His parents working most of the day left him to basically raise himself. He tried drugs for the first time when he was twelve and has used them ever since. Now more than ten years later he's tried about all their is to try, and has a top ten list.

He dropped out of highschool when he was 16 to work down at the shipyard docks. He needed the cash, seeing as his parents wouldn't pay for him to move out. Needless to say he didn't move out until a few years later anyway, but he got a place to put his 'goodies' anyway, a warehouse.

Being a frequent user, he managed to make a few connection with druglords all over town, which quickly linked him with the mob. It's through them he found himself working at the docks. The Mob ran the docks, so it wasn't difficult for him to blend in with everyone else there. After a while he had managed to make quite a salary and gain a stash of various thing large enough to make him a druglord himself.

It was almost a normal day when he heard a large crash at the piers. He was in his warehouse at the time, so it was a while before he actually decided to take a look at what was going on. It was then he met up with Benny Fontana, who explained what was going on.

After hearing the word 'Zombies', Tim grabbed as much guns as he could, stole a few bikes from a shop, and head off with Lefty into the sunset until they met Group B. While Lefty felt a bit of suspicion towards the group, Tim loved to be around them, even when they didn't want him.

Relation to Other Characters: Tim worked with Benny for years and they've become quite close despite their personalities. Some may go as far as to say Benny did all the thinking while Tim did all the work.
He was also reunited with one of his highschool buddies, Kara, when he met with group B.

Name: Kara Ovel

Group: Group B

Gender Female

Age: 19

Physical Description: She is 5 foot 4 and a half. She has long auburn hair that reaches to her shoulders. She is fit, but not supermodel-esqe so. She almost always wears tuxedos to any nonformal event and a shirt and skinny jeans to every formal event she went to. She has a pale complexion with low cheekbones and stunning blue eyes. She usually only wears makeup to be sarcastic.

Spoiler
Image

Personality: She is very blunt, to say the least. She is an independent figure and rebels against any kind of authority except when she knows that authority is needed.

History (Where did you come from, where were you during the outbreak): She grew up in the suburban area of a streamline city. Her mom was an architect and her dad was a professional actor as a child (In her childhood, he just sat around being lazy most of the time). Needless to say, she grew up without the lack of money ever reaching her family. She was an only child, thus grew to be very independent and reliant on nonliving things, such as video games.

She grew to love video games and almost every aspect of video games: The social contact, the storyline, the music, and even the mechanics of gaming. Her addiction to gaming caused her to become somewhat paranoid, although she liked to call it "being ready for anything." She had her parents enroll her in fighting classes, she went hunting with her grandparents over the summer, and she joined many sports, in order to keep her in shape.

She often believed that her only friend was the lack of friends, so to speak. She wanted to stay away from things that could harm her in any ways (that was living, of course). She preferred to study people and the way that they act from afar, or, in the special circumstances, by interacting with them.

However, even with her best efforts, she was still popular and still well liked among her peers. She even had some 'best friends': Lefty and Righty, or Benny and Tim, respectively. They were weird and always surprised her. That's about all she can tell you, because they are the rare kinds of people that she can't make a good observation about.

Late one day, she found herself being round up by Tim and scurried outside of the city. It was about the fast-spreading rumor of Zombies. She didn't mind.

Relation to Other Characters: She is friends with Benny and Tim.

Name: James Miller

Group: B (Leader)

Gender Male

Age: 35

Physical Description: James is a big dude, but he's by no means "fat." He has a slight stomach to him, but he is still pretty muscular. He stands around 6'. James has sharp cheekbones, covered with facial hair he's too lazy to shave. He has short cut brown hair, which he doesn't tend to. He's got a slightly crooked nose, from it being broken in a fight, and piercing hazel eyes.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: He is overly protective of his son. His wife died, and it left him slightly disturbed in the head. He does whatever he can to protect his son, and if anything happened to him, he would lose it. He rules strongly, he allows input from others, but his word goes, and if he doesn't like someone else's idea, it doesn't go. He expects you to follow through if he tells you to do something. Has a short temper, and loses it sometimes.

History: James was a picture perfect example of the average american. He worked most days, went home to his family, went to bed, repeat. He grew up in Raymond, a small town in Southern Maine. He graduated, went to a community college, and became a carpenter. It was in college he met his wife, Daphne. They got married quickly after college, and had a son, Jessie. They lived paycheck to paycheck. The economy was slow, they never really got ahead, but they never fell behind. James picked up hunting as a hobby. He would trap, shoot, however, it was an extra way to save money by keeping food on the table. He quickly had a small stockpile of weapons, ranging from pistols to bows and arrows.

When the apocalypse occurred, he was working. He had another coworker at the site with him. Two zombies ambled out of the woods. James was working up on the roof. They grabbed his friend and bit him. James knew what it was immediately. He bashed the two zombies' heads in with a hammer, and went home. Luckily, his family hadn't been affected yet. He grabbed his weapons, and they piled in his truck, and they left. They never stayed in one spot. They would go from place to place, picking up supplies, and other people too. Before long, they had a large group on their hands. At it's peak, it had about 30 members. James was only 35, but he was the oldest in the group. He also provided the most weapons, so he was quickly appointed leader to the group.

One night, their camp, was overrun. Many died, including Daphne. The survivors, and there weren't many, all dispersed. Some of them have found rejoined the group, others are still missing. Facing the death of his wife, James became a little crazy, especially since he didn't have the time to keep her from reanimating (might do something with that later  ) He doubts others, and is extremely overprotective towards his son. He still carries on though.

Relation to Other Characters: Father to Jessie Miller (Aria's character)

Name: Jessie Miller

Group: B

Gender male

Age: 11

Physical Description: Jessie has sharp facial features, and dark brown hair, both after his father. His eyes, however, are green just like his mother's. His skin is paler than his father's, and he has barely visible freckles. He doesn't really take care of his hair, so it resembles a bush, with locks just sticking out in random directions. His face is pretty symmetrical, and his eyes are rather large - if he smiled more, he would be the typical, cute young boy with the future of becoming a handsome man one day.

Personality: Even though his father protects him almost obsessively, Jessie never acts like neither a spoiled nor weak child. He is mostly quiet and kind, and serious behind his age (seeing the situation, not to be surprised about). He misses his mother, whom he still remembers, and tends to act recklessly. He is smart, so he does think things through, but if he disagrees with something his father said, he will just do things his way. Jessie likes to explore, isn't afraid of dark and knows how to shoot with surprising precision. He doesn't bond with people very easily, but follows his intuition about everyone and everything - even more so than he follows what he's been told. Though he doesn't often act like it, he actually is afraid, more than anything of staying all alone, so he's never happy when his father takes unnecessary risks. Jessie has nightmares of his mother being a Walker and attacking him and Dad, and of numerous other things - he barely ever manages to sleep through the night peacefully, but he doesn't tell anyone about it.

History well, everything is more or less said in Fruit's profile. Jessie was with his mother as the outbreak happened, and took by his father to what they thought was the safe place. James formed his group, and Daphne tried hard to keep Jessie as far from the whole thing as possible. When she died, Jessie was there, and he knows he will never be able to forget it.
He is the youngest member of their group, and he is easy to love, so, especially since his mother died, he's been taught various skills by various group members.

Relation to Other Characters: son of the group's leader, James Miller. He also wears his mother's wedding ring on his right thumb - he snatched it before his father pulled him away from her when she fell.
