New Year Storybook Workshop - January 5th

Hi everyone!

The new year is upon us, and to kick it off on YWS we'll have workshops each weekend in January from each section of your friendly neighborhood moderators. The first up is storybooks. In this workshop, we're going to go over the importance of creating solid characters and how to keep the story moving forward. We'll also have a few fun activities and games to go along with it.

The storybook will be on Saturday, January 5th at 4pm GMT. That translates to 11am eastern and 10am central for the United States; if your time zone isn't listed, check out this link:

Expect the workshop at least an hour to an hour and a half. For now, this will be limited to six spots. Please reserve a spot by commenting in this thread, but only do so if you're sure you can come. If you need to give up your spot, please let either Rydia or I know. And if you happen to come across this thread after all the spots have filled, no matter; PM Rydia or I and we'll work something out. This workshop is closed for now! If you didn't reserve spot, there are going to be more workshops from other crews later this month, and there will always be a next time.

This sounds interesting.. Could someone tell me how it actually works? I mean, is it over chat, in the forum, over cam or something or..? I'm not here long enough to know what it looks like :s

Aria - the participants of the workshop and the crew leaders get together in a Writer Feed Pad or Google Doc and we'll have a certain agenda in the hour and a half/two hours that the workshop we'll take. Some of it will just be going over what we need to go over, and we'll activities and games and well, plus there will be chances for you to ask questions. However, since you did not specifically reserve a spot and CrazyGirl did, this workshop is going to be full. Later in the month there will be workshops from the other crews, and we will always hold more SB workshops in the future.

When will the other workshops be announced?

1-2 weeks before the workshop proper, usually.
