The recent economic failure has greatly impaired various homes throughout our country. We are aware that not only you, but many others have been affected by this horrible occurrence. You have received this letter to give you an offer it would be foolish to refuse. We've done research regarding your family’s medical history and have come to the conclusion that your family line holds strong genes that uphold a healthy being. Our government has a strong belief that only the most physically and mentally prepared people can handle what is to come. As you know, our country was once a beacon of freedom and prosperity, but now we are under the influence of those we once controlled We are not as in control as we once were, which can cause a lack of structure and organization in our actions we take as the government. At any given time, one of these demanding countries could overthrow, or even destroy our way of life. No one likes to be uninformed, nor do they like to feel helpless. This program will offer many possibilities for a thriving future. Throughout this informative letter, we will show you: What our program is about, why you should be involved, how the preparation will be executed, the hierarchy of stations, and how to apply.

What is Gateway?
Gateway is an organization based on the belief that preparation for the next few years is crucial. This group was formed by Gregory N. Hansel of Washington DC. The basic principles of Gateway state that in a situation of crisis, certain measures must be taken to ensure health among our population. Gregory has devised an institution in which able-bodied citizens can learn to take the place of those in charge at the time of emergency. Everyone involved will be trained mentally and physically to overcome obstacles that are common in society along with learning to communicate for foreign matters.

Why you should be involved.
Being a member of Gateway is a great honor. Only selected families across the United States have been offered this once in a life time chance. Not only will you eventually have a say in political matters, you will also lean a vast majority of material that will prove valuable in the future. Depending on your status, you may take actions to achieve various things. Money will be provided for the participants family along with necessities needed to survive in poverty. This wealth may be expanded with rank.

Preparation:
Those selected to take part will be sent to a facility in rural Texas to begin. Upon arrival, each will receive a pad of numbers indicating their living arrangements as well as a survey and a list of courses. Descriptions of the courses will be provided. Based on the surveys, the courses will be ordered. Three of the each five day week will be dedicated to learning the extensive knowledge; the rest will be determined later by a supervisor and the individual. Everything will be arranged as soon as your application arrives.

Stations:
A basic outline of stations will be determined by multiple occasions in which the volunteers will be tested. After learning a while, ranks will be devised based on many physical and mental qualities. The statistics will show who is leading in each area of concentration. Each placement will have a job equivalent. This process will be repeated until one final decision will lock the assignments in place. An overall list will determine the highest ranks within the program. Some of the categories include strength, mental awareness, manipulation, interrogation, reflexes (and speed), determination, creativity and technology.

How to apply:
An attached form will need to be filled out and returned immediately, information on what to bring will be included.


You or a family member has received this letter in the mail. For whatever reason, you have decided to go. Maybe you’re providing for your family, or maybe you just want power. Whatever the reason, you have accepted the invitation and have sent in your application. A letter of approval has been sent, and you are arriving at an airport to be flown to Texas. Everything seems great now, but little do you know, the letter doesn't have the intentions it promised. The courses you will be taking are not only dangerous, but the challenges could easily kill you. Things you least expect will turn into your worst nightmare, but be careful, don't dream too hard.

Samuel is young and rather handsome. He has a well-built figure with semi-long limbs and a sort of grace about his movements. His eyes are a blue-green-hazel color - some strange mixture of the three colors that contrasts nicely with his fairly light skin tone. His jet black hair is cut fairly short and kept tousled and stylistically messy.

Personality: Sam is a loner type. He doesn't like people very much - never has and probably never will - and only speaks openly to a select few. He hates being touched - possibly from some instance as a child. He has a tendency to seclude himself from groups, preferring individualized work over things that are team-oriented. He will cooperate, however, when put into a situation, and can take charge if he absolutely has to. He doesn't like it much, though. In addition, he's a very thought-driven person - he thinks into things, and is very good with logical problems. As a consequence to his logical mindset, though, he isn't very good with emotional situations.

Weaknesses: Emotions, physical contact.

Strengths: Logical problems (mathematics are his strong point), flexibility.

History:
Sam was born into what seemed like a perfectly normal family. His mother was one of the most loving women you could ever meet, and his father was present. Maybe a little bit too present. The three of them lived in peace until Samuel turned eight. A week after his birthday, Sam was molested by his father, and to this day does not like to be touched in any way, shape or form. His mother found out a few days later, divorced his father, and the two of them moved as far away as they could get.
Everything seemed fine for a time. Sam grew up to age fifteen without any other real issues. But then his father demanded payment for some debt owed him by Sam's mother, and when she couldn't pay, he eventually had them both thrown out of their apartment. This was about two months prior to Sam receiving his invitation to Gateway. They had been couch-hopping for months, and he was rather surprised to have received any sort of mail. How could anyone have known where he was?
He accepted it partially out of desperation. What else could he really do? The money would go to his mother, it could fix her life and put her back on her feet.

What's in your bag?:

Personality: Leona is a strong girl, she is always up for adventure and she loves romance. Her blue eyes capture any guys attention with just one look at her. She is very outgoing and can take out anything that gets in her way. Also she is very determined when it comes to completing tasks.
Weaknesses: her baby sister hurt in any way. She is also scared of fire but doesn't let anyone know
Strengths: If you make her mad you will see the wrath you never saw before. She is easy to get along with too because her gazing eyes capture you.
History(Include why you decided to accept): Leona came from a wealthy family. She is the oldest of two. It was always her and her baby sister Marie. Her mother and father split when Leona was 8, and since then she has lived with her dad in a mansion. She protects her baby sister like she was her own child. Also leona learned karate when she was 7 and by age 9 was a pro black belt. The reason she decided to accept the invitation for the getaway was because she wanted to do something good to protect her family from any harm that could or will come. She doesn't want anything more than her family to be happy and safe.

Appearance(Written and picture please.): Dark brown hair, pale freckles crossing the bridge of his nose and cheeks. You will usually find him well dressed in a polo and slacks, dress shirt occasionally, with well-kept shoes. He always has with him a silver class ring on his right hand and a chain that disappears into his shirt, the charm on the end depicting a lion, his family crest.

Personality: Sal is a reserved kid, preferring the company of his paints and sketchbooks to real people. He's very poetic, artistic, and imaginative. He's sweet and kind, but laid back in social situations. Once he opens up people are usually entranced by his colorful mind. Don't let his shyness be mistaken for weakness, he is not afraid to tell you the truth, even if it is harsh - as the truth often tends to be. He's very loyal and trustworthy, you won't have to worry about him breaking his word once he gives it to you.

Weaknesses: Goes blind unexpectedly and without cause. When he can see it's only in black and white. No one knows why, he's a special case. He's often impulsive and that can get him into tricky situations that he can't always get out of.

Strengths: He's extremely smart in ways that involve problem solving. He can think his way out of nearly any situation and isn't afraid to attempt things that seem impossible. He's risky and is sort of a daredevil. He's afraid of almost nothing.

History: Salvador was born blind. He couldn't see anything until he turned seven years old, even though this is true Salvador has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. Even if it was nothing but circles and swirls on a page, he could draw it and it made him happy. When Sal was blind he couldn't see what he was drawing, of course, but his brain knew what it wanted to manifest and through touching certain objects he could draw the lines of that object out in his head. When he turned nine he saw the world for the first time, in black and white. The doctor's never saw something like him before and can't fathom a cure.
His parents raised him to be strong, afraid of nothing. For most of his life he's been afraid, of the dark, of his bouts of blindness, or everything. His father taught him to importance of believing in yourself when no one else did, of doing what others thought impossible. His father encouraged him to keep painting, was the driving force in his artistic career. And then he died. Salvador still has his father's class ring, it is the most important thing he owns.

Naturally, Sal is doing this to ensure the safety of his mother.

What's in your bag?: Paints, pencils, markers, paper, sharpeners, sketchbooks, journals, etc. Basically every art supply he could pack along with some extra clothes, soap, cologne, toothbrush and paste, a photo of his family, his walking stick, and his music player.

Personality: Tr!x is a tomboy. She plays the bass and sometimes drums in a garage band, but never guitar. She has good common sense and street sense. She won't do stupid stuff just because it looks cool. Tr!x doesn't do well with rules or authority. However, she is good at heart. She can't stand pain, even though she acts tough. She feels like she's got to prove she's strong, physically and mentally, especially around guys her age.

Weaknesses: Tr!x is rebellious, and can be very rude. She is a complete mess when it comes to keeping things organized. She would lose her head if it wasn't set firmly on her shoulders. She can come across as cold.

Strengths: Trix is quite confident in herself and what she can do, and she knows how to step down when she can't do something. She is competitive, and it drives her to do her best.

History: Tr!x's parents were incredibly overprotective of her when she was young. They were reluctant to let her do anything that could hurt her. The family was well enough off, but her mother got mad at her father for being a workaholic, and left them without a word when Tr!x was 12. Since then, Tr!x has mostly been left to her own devices. Slowly, she went from innocent, naive kid to a risk taking, self-indulging young woman. She took up snowboarding, joined a band that played in some rather sketchy joints, and started drinking a little with her friends, but never did drugs.
Tr!x got the letter in the mail while her father was away at a business trip. She decided to take it because she knew her father wouldn't care. It sounded like fun, and like a real way that she could help mankind.

His hair tends to get curly if he dozes off from managing it, but he can pull of a very nice and curly black 'Santa' beard when he wants to look good for his wife.

Personality: Cautious to jump to any conclusions before analyzing every possibility. Carl is very kind to those who approach him with a confident posture, and cares deeply about his family values. He is a 'closet agnostic' who has been going to church for as long as he has been alive, but passes through his daily life not mentioning his stance. He works very hard for his family, and can display brief spells of a violent temper, that only emerges when thoroughly agitated.
Strengths: Carl is a first class speaker, though he prefers to listen instead. He always puts others before him, and used to be an All-Star track & field athlete in high school, before he stopped working out. Carl is witty, and can bargain with anyone practically.

History (Include why you decided to accept): A well educated man who has worked with the environmental industry for 13 years, particularity involved in managing wetlands. He knows the system of government, having worked with the EPA for many years. He feels he is one of the very few people who understands how public and private ordinances work and will do whatever he can to protect his family.

Weaknesses: Carl is overweight, so he is very self-conscious about his appearance. He can get very into his thoughts sometimes, which impedes some logical thought process, so he will not always make the right decision.

Medical conditions(if any): Post traumatic stress disorder due to the grizzly bear attack when she was seventeen. She underwent treatment, but still suffers recurring flashbacks, while also having violent outbursts on occasions. She can be quite emotionally detached at times, due to the disorder, but at other times extremely emotional.

Personality: Prior to the grizzly attack, she was a bubble personna, full of life, and a risk taker. But, after the incident, she has become more subdued while also gaining an appreciation about life- it is a gift. She does not say much, but prefers to silently watch those around her and listen to what they say. Even when asked to, she never overshares. This creates a sort of mystery around her. Her serious nature makes her appear as though she has authority. She enjoys reading the classics, especially Russian writers like Tolstoy or Dostoevsky.
Weaknesses: She finds it difficult to forgive when someone has wronged her. She's often very autocratic- she wants things done the way she wants things done. She's a perfectionist, as well.
Strengths: Although she doesn't look it, she's a fighter- both physcially and emotionally. She has practiced in the martial arts, as well as fencing, archery, and boxing.
History(Include why you decided to accept): Her ancestors came to the US as they were facing persecution in Europe. They were members of the Russian Royal family, though her Great grand father was part of the Saxe-Coburg line- German royals. She knows of her ancestry as it's been drilled in her head since she was very little. Due to the Saxe-Coburg line being still alive and well in Europe, her family wants her to return there as heir to their line and fortune, and to marry someone royal. Valerie Maii's only chance of surviving without her parents in these tough economic conditions is to undergo this Gateway programme, which will help her clear her head and eventually pick her life up and live independently.

She just graduated a well-reputed girls only boarding school in Switzerland and she was looking to begin her first year at Princeton University, when her Father's business suddenly went bankrupt and her parents started pressuring her into going to Europe to claim her rightful title as Contessa Saxe-Coburg, which she has absolutely no intention of doing.

In a sense, she's running away from her problems.

A tank of a man, Jason stands at 6'3, almost 200 pounds. Living on the street it's beat or get beat, so he had to work out daily to look intimidating. Has a plain buzz cut with brown hair with blue eyes, nothing really striking. His face is hardened from a tough life. He has cut cheeks and his nose is slightly crooked from being broken. Does not have the goatee like the picture.

Personality: Cunning, he is smart and is good at coming up with plans in rushed moments. A lone wolf, he likes to be alone, if he's making friends, he's coming to you. Life on the street does that; you question people, don't trust friendships. He holds grudges, and doesn't let you forget. He doesn't like to fight, but if the situation arises, he doesn't back down. No man left behind. Will do whatever it take to survive and get back to his brother. Can be manipulative, so be careful before allying with him.

Weaknesses: Makes rash decisions, and can say things that either he'll regret or that'll turn people against him.

Strengths: Physically fit, endurance obstacles will be easier for him than others. Is manipulative, and can get people to do things for him. Also has a reach advantage over others because he is so tall, which may come in handy, may not.

History: Jason had a good life before the poverty hit. A good job, a loving family, his future ahead of him. When the poverty hit though, things went downhill for him. Way down. Gangs broke out in his neighborhood, it was crime after crime. One night, their car was stolen. Little did he know, his father was in one of the gangs and had to sell it to keep himself alive. When he was 15, it escalated. The gangs went to war. One night, one of the gangs broke into his house and murdered his family. Jason took his brother and hid in the closet to avoid this. They had to leave with nothing, and have been living off of nothing. When Jason received the letter, he didn't even question, the chance to bring him and his brother a new life was overwhelming.
