Hi my name is Conbob and I have recently taken up writing again.
In school I used to love writing really short, almost poem like stories and one day I mustered the courage to ask my English teacher to read a story I had written entitled "The great mind spectacular".
Rather than read the story (which was incomplete and only about two pages long) my teacher read the first few paragraphs and told me, quite vividly, how bad he thought it was and how it would never go anywhere.

The whole horrid experience crippled my confidence as a creative writer and it's only now that I have had the faith in myself to try again.

I have been posting short pieces on the internet as they come to me, without much planning. Just letting the words flow ect. ect.

It would be great (and much appreciated) if you guys could read what i've wrote and any constructive criticism would be great :) thank you.

Hey bob! Welcome to YWS! First off, I'd say you should post some of your stuff here, I'm sure it'd be much easier for us to review it.
And I'm sure no one here would try to cripple your confidence here. We're a very supportive group :D

If you even need any help around the site, just gimme a note. I'll see what I can do :)

Welcome back to writing!

Submitting your writing does make you vulnerable to criticism and it still bothers me to receive it, even if it is valid and nice. For the most part, reviewers are very supportive, especially with fragile writers.

There are some reviewers that believe in tough love and it can be unpleasant to be on the receiving end of that kind of review. However, these reviewers are few and can be won over if you edit your story to reflect their points.

All of us are here to help!
