The Assassins of Oz (Started but still accepting)

Ok, so the main idea is a twisted version of The Wizard of Oz. Same characters as the Wizard of Oz, just represented in a warped, twisted way.

Plot: Oz is a fantastical land where everyone has lived in harmony until the Wicked Witches of the East and West came along and ruined everything. However, Glinda and the Wizard have hired Dorthy, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man to assassinate them. With the help of the munchkins, Glinda, and the Wizard, they try to hunt the Witch. But the Witch has some tricksup her sleeves too, including flying monkeys and other various monsters.

Where you come in: Choose a character and assume their role of course! Be as imaginative as you can.

Name: Dorothea "Dorothy" Gale
Age: 19
Alliance: Oz
Position: Assassin
Personality: Dorthy has a quick-thinking mind and can make snap decisions if need be. See sees everything as good and evil, no grey areas, and blindly follows the Wizard and Glinda's orders. Although she is a fierce, ruthless fighter, she is extremely loyal to her friends and will do anything to protect them. She is very brave and cunning. She has no remorse or any seeable feelings whatsoever in battle, and only opens up to her friends, discretely.
Physical appearence: Dorthy always wears her brown hair in braids, to keep her hair from getting in her eyes in combat. She has fair skin and thin, and is short, only 5'2". But don't let her appearnce fool you, she's a fierce fighter. Instead of the typical plaid dress, she wears a black nylon tracksuit, designed by Oz's finest to optimize speed. She has brown eyes and freckles. She always carries an unassuming wooden basket, which hold all of her weapons.
Magical abilities: Can create and control water and,not really a magical ability, has perfected the art of looking and acting completely innocent.
History: Ever since she was a little girl, she had been raised to become an assassin. She learned to throw a knife before she learned to walk. Her father was a retired assassin, and her mother had died in the line of duty as one as well. Her entire family is composed of assassins, it's a family tradition. Recently, she has graduated at the top of her class at Oz Academy, where she trained to be an assassin, partially for academics and partially for her accomplishments in assassination. She is now on her first mission, sent from the Wizard himself. Her father died last year, and she is sad that he cannot see how much she has accomplished. After her father's death, she became emotionally shut down. She has had to fend for herself since then, which has made her callous.
Up for love?: Yes... but you have been warned! And she's straight. She secretly has a crush on the Scarecrow, but will not admit it to anyone, least of all herself.
Other: She is always accompanied by her visious attack dog Toto, who is extremely loyal and just as callous as she is.

Name: Deimus “Scarecrow” Corbin

Age: 21

Alliance: Oz

Position: Assassin

Personality: Scarecrow is cheerful and friendly. He has a bright tenor voice and tends to chatter seemingly inanely. There’s a method to his madness, though; he’s one of the world’s most brilliant minds. He’s incredibly observant and intuitive, and as a strategist he’s unparalleled. His comments appear random mainly because his brain processes information at a speed that most people can’t follow. However, he is also somewhat insecure, and suffers from acute pyrophobia. He has virtually no strength, agility, or fighting skills (as in, barely knows how to hold a knife). More than anything, he wants to get his Ph.D. before his twenty-second birthday. Good dancer.

Physical appearance: Tall and skinny, like a scarecrow. Brown eyes with exaggeratedly thick eyebrows. The tip of his nose is pink. He’s vaguely tanned and his hair is straw-coloured. He tends to wear baggy, patched up clothing that hangs loose on him because he’s so skinny; favours a shady brimmed black hat.

Magical abilities: He can shut down all his body functions and stay perfectly still so he appears to be dead. He is also attractive to birds, especially corvids (he can’t make them do anything; they just come and perch on or near him. He finds this very annoying).

History: Born on a farm. Hated it. Taught himself how to read. Used to work out mathematic equations on the barn wall; independently discovered addition, multiplication, square roots, and basic geometry before the barn burned down. Scarecrow spent his entire childhood being told he was stupid (because he couldn’t handle horses or milk cows); was told it so often that even into his adulthood he half believes it. Ran away, got into the highly exclusive Oz Academy purely on academic merit the same time Dorothy was there. He was only there for a year before graduating and going on to get his Master’s in Assassination Strategy at OzU. (He opted for more schooling instead of going out into the workforce.)

Up for love?: Has a serious crush on Dorothy. Doesn’t have to be requited or permanent though.

Other: Has done all the work necessary to get a Ph.D. (I think they're easier in Oz, than in real life), but the Wizard is the only one who can give him his diploma.

Name: Orville Zachary Chloropolis
Full Title: His Imperial Majesty King Orville Zachary Chloropolis I, Lord and Master of the Emerald City and Imperial Ruler of the Country of Oz and the Surrounding Lands of Gillikin, Munchkin, Winky and Quadling

Age: Nobody is really sure; his appearance suggests late sixties. Probably much older than he looks, though, as he looked pretty much the same age when he appeared over forty years ago.

Alliance: Oz

Position: King of the Emerald City of Oz

Personality: He's very kind and friendly. Even in his dangerous position, he's forgiving: willing to give people second chances. If you get firmly established on his bad side, though, you're dead. He has a very powerful imagination, and likes painting. Favourite colour: green. He enjoys classical music. Lots of people like him, and has few enemies in the City. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty if he has to. Even with his age and figure, he's a master at swordfighting.

Physical appearance: Portly and short (really, really short at 4'4", comparable to the munchkins), with a round nose and a double chin hidden under his thick beard. Balding. Usually wears simple but elegant clothes with high collars and long capes, mostly in green. Crown is studded in emeralds. When he walks he does so with a cane; he doesn't actually need it, but it has a short sword inside it for emergencies.

Magical abilities: Powerful telekinesis; can lift objects with his mind much larger than you would expect, and can transmit images from his mind onto other surfaces. He can fly and/or hover by telekinetically manipulating the air around him.

History: Nobody knows where he came from, but before he appeared forty-two years ago, the country was in turmoil. He came and quickly straightened things out, and the people were so grateful for the various things he did that they crowned him king. Since then he has led the country relatively peacefully.

Up for love?: No.

Other: Has a strange obsession with the time and is never seen between ten p.m. and six in the morning.

Personality: Chilly, aloof, cold, and calculating. Trusts no one.

Physical appearance: Six feet tall, body of metal. No distinguishing features beyond that.

Magical Abilities: No magic, his tin body is not conducive to magic

History: With his deadly broadsword, immense physical strength, and knowledge of tactics, he has long been sought after as a hired warrior.

Other: Fears water.

Name: Cowardly lion (
Age: 24
Alliance: to the Witch or Oz -Oz
Position: A bad assasin. He just barely made the cut.
Personality:Nice, ESPECIALLY kind to dorothy. He acts cowardly, but that's just to keep everyone in his life safe. If he needs to, he WILL stand up and fight. He is very smart.
Physical appearence: Curly blond hair, down to the bottom of his ears. Broad shoulders. Wears tan and beige clothes to blend in. 6'0". Wears mocassins. Has brown eyes.
Magical abilities: He can be completely silent.
History: His father left him when he was seven and his mom went into a depression and quit her job. He had to go steal food to feed his family. One day, he was caught by none other than the wizard himslef. He asked why The lion was stealing food, and Charles told him his life story. The wizard regarded how Charleshassn't gotten caught for this long, and ooffered to hire him in exchange for the better health of his mom, and an appartment to live in, and he would never have to steal food again, for as long as he worked for the wizard.
Up for love?: He has a crush on dorthey.
Other: He used to run around without a care in the world. He would contantly talk about his days and thoughts. when his father left, he became silent.

Name: Agatha Cronwell West (Wicked Witch of the West)

Age: 184 (30 in witch years)

Alliance: Witch

Position: Leader of all things evil in Oz

Personality: She is evil, and has a completely twisted mind. She despises anyone and anything that gets in the way of her dream to conquer Oz.

Appearance: Her aging skin turned green years ago. She is tall at 6' 0". Ugly, blemished skin. Thin black hair at shoulder length. Dark green eyes. Usually weears black robes with a black cape, black hat, and black combat boots.

Magical abilities: Has all the general powers of a witch. (Can cast spells, make potions, see into a crystal ball) Can read and control minds. Ability to take over another person without touching them. Can send messages to other peoples minds, no matter how far away.

History: Grew up in a small town with her three sisters and her parents. Jer parents were evil, but her and her three sisters wanted to be good, to help others. Her parents went ballistic when they found that out and even killed one of her sisters. One stayed good, but herr and another sister decided that, to ensure their own safety, they must turn evil. She doesn't speak to any of her family anymore. When she was eightteen, her parents brainwashed her, she always had her powers, but she was convinced to use them for evil and to try and conquer Oz. Her parents were killed by Oz's assasins a while ago, and she still has had no communication with either of her sisters in years.

Up for love?: Yes, she has always longed for someone to be with. Someone evil like her.

Other: She has amazing skill with blades as well as her powers. Has a VERY strong force of evil beings to back her up.

Is the character "Glinda" the witch of the north or south? In the movie, it's the north, but in the original book it's the south.

I don't really know. I guess the south, because this site is about writing and books.

Does that mean that there's a witch of the north too? I'm only asking because if there is a witch of the north, then we have another character spot in case someone wants to join but there aren't any empty spots.
