Vacations Art Dump.

Did these in the vacations. School opened now.

Wow! Erza these are brilliant! I loved them all, especially the paintings. The ship would've looked a lot more realistic without the outline but it's really good. I mean it. So is the girl staring at the moon. You were careful with the colors and shades everywhere. It's so hard to paint like that. Keep at it okay?

Overall they are good. The majority of my commentary is going to be on the final painting. Before I start, just know I am no expert but I know what I like and I will do my best to give you a fair and helpful critique.

So, the final painting. Proportions, proportions, proportions! The length of the legs compared to each other and compared to the torso. The length of feet compared to the length of the calf. The arms of the legs compared to the torso and each other, etc, etc, etc. Unless it is REALLY obvious that you are trying to make the proportions off, it makes paintings almost awkward to look at. The other big thing is the profile. Drawing a human face is really tough, its hard to try and get all of the distances of features the right distance apart and such and it is just as hard to draw in profile, like in your painting. If you look at a person in profile you will see that their face is not super flat but rather bumpy. For both of these things I would suggest googling it or buying a book. There are literally whole books on proportions and how to figure them out and make a person look natural.

The idea of proportion is a general thing to keep in mind but specifically regarding this painting, look at the girls knees. Now imagine you sitting like that. Is that how it looks? They are kind of awkward. In the future if you are trying to paint/draw/sketch a person in a position that may be difficult, I find it really helpful to have a friend take a picture of you in that position to use as reference.

The best thing I see in the picture is your use of shadow and shade. You really have the idea of picking your light source and shading from that down. It looks awesome.

You did a great job, do not ever stop, you WILL keep improving and grow into the artist that we all know you can be.

Erza! Great job. I love how you are trying so many different styles. It's best to try all kinds of different arts so you can figure out what you like or what you're good at. Plus it's tons of fun

So I like all 3 of these and I'm gonna give you a bit of critique on each one.

I would suggest some kind of background on the first pic. They look like they are kinda floating there in air. You need some kind of shadow undearneath them to tell us where the ground is at. Or some kind of grass and sky background. Or even some motion lines, you know those blurry ones that show people in action. Something that gives us a sense of direction or location.

The second pic is beautiful; I would second what the other reviewer said about taking out the black outline. It would look a little more realistic that way.

The third pic looks like something new for you, with the media you used and the darker colors. The arms and legs are very bendy though, like rubber. Do you know who Gumby is? Anyway,making them a bit stiffer, straighter, and giving visible knee and elbow joints will help.
