These are a bunch of drawings that I did over the course of the year.
I know I'm not that bad nor that good.
And I know my shading is not good at all, neither is my folds(most look unnatural, don't they?)

And I just want some comments that'll help me get better.

The first one was something I did during a no-classes school day.
It's done with a ball-point black-ink pen.

The second is a character from one of my stories.
Sage.
She is done in a 2B pencil and colour pencils.

The third is a drawing I did, thinking it to be a good character. I decided against it, so now, it's classified as a "drew it for fun" drawing now.
It is done with 2HB and 2B pencils.

All of them have been edited in Picassa.

Nothing much, just kept some shadows in.

So, I might add some more afterwards but for now, these are it.
ENJOY!!!!^u^ :smt003

(And yes, I specialize in girls. If I'm lucky, I'll manage to draw a boy and post it up!^u^)

Thanks for your comment on my nartuo. :) First I'd like to say that the pictures are too small. When you upload them on picassa then click them again, the bigger image will appear. You can copy image url and paste it with the Img button. And you are good. I'll be able to give a good review when the drawings are bigger.

Number 3: Right now, I can say that I love all the dresses. I know you did it with pen so you wouldn't have had the chance to correct any mistake. It's amazing that your lines are very clear. I like the pose but the shoulders are a little pointed. They should be a bit lower and more curved. (Love the shoes and the tiny patterns on them) You could try shading it. Imagine a point of light. For example if the light is coming from the right side then everything thing on the right side will be of a litter shade and the shadows will form on the opposite side. You can take reference from pictures on google and try making them first. That way you'll get an idea about shading.

Number 2: I love the pink hair but it seems like you've left most of it uncolored. You should complete the coloring. The girl looks pretty. The pant and shoes are shaded good. While coloring the hair, you can use an eraser at the points where the shine is supposed to be. Nice job here.

Number 1: Here you've drawn quite a skinny girl. What I liked most here was the flowing hair and the shine on it. There seems to be nothing wrong with it the way I see it. Again, there are very clear lines. It looks like she's doing some magic or something. :) Hope I haven't been too harsh or anything. I never meant to be.

Overall, you're good at drawing girls and you should keep practicing. I'm sure you'll improve in no time. Do post more drawings soon. :D

Thanks! :D
And I don't think you were harsh.
For number 1, I did it to resemble "manga" style drawings. Which are often quite lacking of any shading. And yeah...let's go with magic... :smt003

Number 2...sorry, I actually colored it beautifully on paper but it was too light to come up on the scanner.

Number 3 was meant to be a sketch...*sheepish*
Ya' know? I probably should have mentioned all of this at the start.
That was quite dumb of me, leaving that out.

:D Thank you for your review. Much appriciated. And I will take your advice.:smt003
I don't only draw girls. I just prefer to because I want to start my own manga someday. I'm actually an artist who draws/paints " still life."
Actually, painting is still a little out of my league but I can do fine with watercolor.

Hi Aqua! It's awesome to see new people in the art forums ^_^ You're off to a great start!

First of all, I think you have a really admirable attitude towards critique :) I love to see people responding to reviews and genuinely taking what they say to heart. Trust me, you will improve at lightning speed if you keep this up!

Twinkle gave an amazing review, and I agree with what she said about re-sizing the images. I upload my pics through tinypic.com and there is a resize option called Message Board which works really well for forums. You might want to give it a try!

Anyway, onto the actual art! :)

I love #1, the pose is great. The hair is really well drawn and I love how it catches the wind and hangs in front of her eyes. The outfit is also interesting. Since this was a pen drawing, there's not much option with shading, otherwise I'd say to add some shade to the clothes.

#2 is nice! Again the hair is good, but should be colored all the way like Twinkle said. I love how you added shades of pink and yellow and stuff in there. One suggestion I have is to make the eye pop a little bit more, right now it's a little slim and there isn't much color. Great job!

#3 is also cute. A different hairstyle that is also drawn well. The chest area is a little funny-looking, I can't quite tell where her curves are or where her waist or hips start. If you would define that a little more, make it more curvy, she would look a little more girly, which is what you were going for I think with the frilly skirt and pretty boots.

This review is getting long, but the last thing I wanted to say was about your comment that manga-styled art doesn't have much shading, and I don't think that's quite accurate. I put just as much attention to shading in my manga drawings than I do with my realistic ones. But that's just me xP

Hope this helped! Keep up the great work.
The bad news is we don't have any control.
The good news is we can't make any mistakes.

^^" Sorry for taking this long to respond...
You see, I wasn't online for a while...

Anyway, thanks for your review!! ^u^ And I admit, I don't quite grasp the concept of shading and light and all that, so I had just decided to most of them outlinely. Basic sketches, and when I fitted them in a manga format, I would somehow get the shading in.

And I do know about the manga thing ^^"
It's just that I was sort of obsessed with Naruto mangas then, and if you ever check them out, they have practically NO shading at all. I guess I was overdoing it with the obsession ^^".

Thanks for the advice, and that suggestion about tinypic, because I'm gonna post up a few more of my drawings soon!
