Blogging?

Does anyone here blog writing/art/anything? I have a new art bloghttp://www.birdinvines.tumblr.com but its only on Tumblr, which is more of a social network or at least some people use it that way. I'd really like to check out some other blogs, particularly art and writing. So what do you guys think of blogging?

Tumblr can be used to blog writing/art. It might be more of a social network (tumblr technically qualifies as a microblog [Twitter being the other well known microblog]), but it has a heavy focus on the arts. Once you find the right tags to post your work on, then you can start gathering followers. There are also several well known writers on tumblr (John Green and Neil Gaiman are two that show up on my dash often) and you can find a ton of writing advice blogs. Along with research blogs (medical facts, psychology, weapons, history...)

A platform I see fairly often is Blogger (mostly because it ties into Google). Livejournal is useful but doesn't have as strong a community base anymore.

I write a travel blog that you can feel free to check out. It's not for stories or anything, I've kind of turned my passion for writing into writing about travel and whatnot. But feel free to take a look if you wanted. It's at www.whirlwindtravel.wordpress.com

I really like using wordpress as my blog host. It's so simple once you get the hang of it but you can make it look pretty great. and it's free.

I was thinking of starting a philosophy blog if that floats your boat.

Blogging in general, I think, is best summed up as simply, "a form of expression." Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm planning on setting up a blog about foreign languages. I'll post it when its finally up.

I've been thinking of transporting it to Wordpress though.

I am personally a fan of Wordpress. They're rather good at keeping you updated, feeding through views from people who normally wouldn't have seen your pieces, and also it's really simple and easy to use - very clean appearance, templates and CSS.

And they've got a webhosting coding template that's great for creating new sites on http://worpress.org

As for views on blogging? I love it. It's a place where you get to be quite personal and so on, you can get a forum to showcase your writing or whatnot. However the reason I enjoy blogging is for the same reason Martin Freeman states when he plays Watson in the "modern" Sherlock on BBC1, and that's simply because it gives me an excuse to write something frequently. Ultimately, blogging has greatly improved my own self-development and quality of writing.

Personally I use wordpress, as BenFranks said its a very well and stable platform which you can tweak to your own preferences.

And you can follow other wordpressers (That a word? ) easily and have them show up in a list to show others what you are following. Which is a great way to also spread your name if others do the same.

I use Blogger, it works very well for me. I think they are changing their dash soon, I dont know why we must fix whats not broken but whatever. I write mostly about writing but not strictly, sometimes I go off on rants or tongue in cheek wit. Thats the beauty of blogging, it so open, your blog is like a lump of clay to be formed in your hand into whatever you like.
