Ah, my summer holidays havn't started yet, true. I have one more boring, useless week of nothingness in school before summer officially starts for me.

At least our art teacher showed us movies in class for the whole day before the exams. He told us to tell the other teachers that we had an important project to finish
Wow, I would LOVE to have your art teacher as mine's. Mine is into corporal punishment and can't even draw properly...

That sucks... We don't actually have any corporal punishment at all. The most a teacher can usually do is to make someone leave the class and perhaps visit the principal...
Mine actually paints at home and even has some of his portraits in the town gallery.
I had this art tutor once. She was an impressionist painter and a super-nice lady. She taught me how to ACTUALLY draw.

Although our teacher is great, he did not actually teach much drawing... He mostly just gives art assignments, lets us create whatever we want or teaches us art history. Once he taught us a few drawing techniques, and my abilities at the subject improved exponentially...
Anyway, do you like impressionism? I am personally much more into expressionism and surrealism, although I usually dislike abstract paintings.
Ya, Impressionism is nice, a quite peaceful sort of art. But I'll have to say that surrealism is better. It's wacky and crazy. My favourite surrealist is Salvador Dali.

Yes, Dali rocks. Currently my favourite surrealist artist is H.G. Giger (creator of Alien), but I yet have more exploring to do. I remember that I also saw some beautiful works by less-known artists...
Ahh. What would be your views on more popular paintings? ie- Mona Lisa? Ugh, why did that have to be the first thing that came to my head?

I love realistic works, and the Mona Lisa is certainly interesting. I also like many of Rembrant's and Van Gogh's paintings... But I do not believe that paintigs should be considered good just because they are popular.
By the way, I forgot to mention, a large part of our art history education consist of watching documentaries They are usually quite interesting and cinematic.
