Hmmm where do I begin?

I'm just beginning the scary, yet exciting transition from high school to college. I've been writing since the 5th grade (my first 'book' was a humiliating attempt at fantasy; but hey, we all have to start somewhere, right?). Books are my best friends, along with a good cup of coffee and cinnamon rolls. What I read depends on my mood. My favorite book of all time is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

*awkward silence*

I had a bunch of other things that I thought I should say, but my brain is refusing to function at the moment. So I'll just end this with a big wave and a cheesy smile!

Hey Abby! Welcome to YWS! I'm Stella or Stellabeam as to not to confuse me with StellaThomas, who is also on this site. We actually have a quite a few people in college on this site, you'll see them around eventually. They are usually the Mods and the admins in light and dark green. I'm still in High School though. Where are you going to college. A finished book is better than none in my opinion, so congrats on that. We're all here to help each other improve our writing skills. So jump in and make yourself at home. Some tips below to help you navigate.

Here you can post your works of writing (poetry, short stories, chapters of a novel, etc) and people will look at it and help you review it. We operate on a point system, which means you start with a certain amount of points.(I can't remember how much) When you review something you gain points (depends on how long the review is) it's usually around 80-100 and when you post a work you get points deducted. To add a new work you go to the top of the page to a dark dashboard and click on 'Add New Work' then fill out the form.

In addition to posting works you can also blow off steam in the forums, by participating in games and chatting with people. You can have your own blog on this site by clicking on the Blog tab and the 'My Blog' on the right hand side. By clicking on the People you can update your status and comment on other peoples status's. You can also post on other people's walls.

Now for my personal favorite, Storybooks. These are interactive stories that different people post as diffrent characters. It helps you work with other people and the story changes depending on other people's post's. It has a general plot with purpose but other than that it all changes. I'm starting one right now let me know if you're interested viewtopic.php?f=7&t=94502.

Please contact me by clicking my name if you have more questions or just want to chat. Have fun!

hey wella, I'm going to college this year too! Anyway, welcome to YWS, the best writing site on the internet. If books are your friends, then so are we. Stella pretty much covered how the points work, but I thought I might introduce you to a couple special features YWS has that I personally enjoy. If you're like me, and novels are your specialty, you might want to check out this game: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=94558
if you need reviews you can either PM me, review someone else and then guilt trip them into reviewing your work, or post it on here:
viewforum.php?f=188
Finally, if you're ever just bored, go to the homepage and click on the "enter chat room" button. everone new always gets a really warm welcome, and we always have the most interesting conversations.
Have fun,
your friend,

if anyone wants a review, post on my profile and I'll get to it in a couple days.
