Drawing in the deepest breath I could get I screamed, "UNCLE NATHAN!!!!" before a hand clamped over my mouth and I was forced to breathe something that smelled horrible. Soon I was out.
A scream jolted me completely to consciousness. I jumped up, looking around.
"It came from outside!" Val said as she began to race for the door. I glanced at my father and cursed.
Nathaniel still lay asleep on the bed. The exhaustion from banishing the demons from we who had been affected had finally kicked in. I doubted he would be of any help for a few hours yet.
I cursed and raced for the door, wondering what was going on...

Oh no, she wasn't going to do something brave/stupid. I grabbed her around the waist and shoved her back down, "wait until the immortal one figures out what's going on."
She stood up again, "no."
I cursed, stubborn woman.
*Can't post as Ariana seeing as she's unconcious.*
I heard the door open and heard the voices of Natan, Isabella, Max, and Valentina. I sighed in relief, knowing the demon could do us no harm now and that it had been uncovered. I waited to hear Nathaniel and Natan's voices, sentencing the demon to death.
No such voices came. Only the crisp, silky voice of Zalia arched to my ears.
"Move and Ariana dies."

I tried to pry myself away from Riley but he wouldn't let me, "I won't do anything stupid," I promised him. I wasn't going to do anything stupid really...Just not according to me. I had a vague idea of what I was doing, but not totally or if it would work.
I fought my way free of him, and grabbing a dagger, rammed it into the demon's chest hoping that it would weaken him, and turn his attention on me while they attacked him for me.
As soon as Ariana had lodged the dagger into Zalia's chest, whatever spell she had cast over me vanished. I raised my hand and began to cast a powerful spell that I hoped would end this once and for all. Val jumped onto Zalia's back, attempting to bite her. Isabella was beginning to cast a spell too and Max was trying to get Ariana and Riley away and back inside.
Finishing the complex incantation, i pointed my finger at the demon and let my spell loose.

When the spell hit Zalia, it hit my right arm, which was firmly around her so i could get to her neck. We both screamed in pain. As I tried to get out of the way, she began pulling at me, trying to use me to shield her from the spell. The only thing she forgot was my vampire strength, which I used to push her in front of me and hold her there.
I picked up Ariana in one arm, not breathing as the smell of her blood drove me wild. With my other hand I grabbed Riley's arm and dragged him inside too.
"I have to go back and help," I said, "or I may be the one killing Ariana."
I went back out to guard Isabella if the Demon decided to attack somebody else.
Max stood at my side as I cast at the demon, trying desperately to kill it.
"I've got this," My father said, coming up behind me. I nodded, moving out of the way as he attacked the demon.
"I'm going to go help Ariana," I said to Max. He made to follow me, and I stopped him. "Stay out here and help them. You know what Arianna's scent does to you."
"I can hold my breath," he protested. "There's nothing for me to do out here!" I sighed, knowing arguing was a pointless waste of time, and walked inside.
