First time uing GIMP. Let me know how it is.

I am using GIMP for the first time and drew this with the mouse. I will keep on updating this picture in case i decide to do the body. Click on the pic to look at it properly in a larger size.

Wow! Really wow! I am so amazed by this. I have to say it's like a thousand times better than my first time drawing with Gimp! And it's extra impressive that it was all done with a mouse!

I can tell this was really carefully drawn because of all the extra details you had. After I zoomed up I saw the shading under the hairline, and the way you colored the eyes. Small things like that really make a difference and show that you are really observing your reference.

I also like the hair and how you gave it 3 tones, plus shine line on lop of that. I can't tell if you did it all on one layer, or if you used multiply or overlay or things like that, but I would suggest doing multiple layers for every picture. One trick I usually did with hair on Gimp was to create a new layer set to Soft Light, and take an airbrush in white and go over the hair to add shine. It's a small thing, but I always liked the result.

I notice that the shading on the skin is placed really good, but when you zoom up it looks a bit smudgy if you know what I mean. The smear tool is one of my favorite things on Gimp. But I've found that in order to get skin looking really smooth, you have to turn the opacity down. (I think it's opacity, it's the one that's usually set to 50%) Anyways, if you set that down to 20% or so, and use a bigger brush, it will smooth areas out more rather than smear them together. I don't know if I'm making any sense here or not lol.

Keep drawing! This is a really impressive start and I hope I see more stuff from you
