Look: Blond hair, usually in a ponytail, cinnamon-colored eyes, angular face, tall, slim, likes to wear sweaters and boots.
History: Val was expelled from her high school because of an incident in chemistry class on her sixteenth birthday (she lost control of an explosive experiment, and her magic amplified the explosion, which burned her lab partner's hair off, charred several ceiling tiles, and set off the fire alarm). Her parents, being caring and encouraging, took this in stride, and sent her off to boarding school with her permission.
