Hello everyone!

We're now half way through March so I hope you're all preparing for National Poetry Month!

What is NaPoWriMo?

Some of you might not be aware of the event so I'll quickly tell you what it's all about. In the month of April you get thirty days to write thirty poems, that's one poem every single day. Now there's some leeway with the rules and it's generally accepted that you don't have to stick to the one a day challenge as we all know there are some days when life is just crazy or the will to write has simply abandoned us. Instead, some days you can write two poems to catch up or if you're really crazy, you could even try writing all thirty in one day ;)

The poems don't have to be linked in any way but sometimes it's fun to have a common theme so start thinking ahead and maybe even draft a few titles or ideas. You may plan! What you may not do is start writing until the 1st April.

To help you with the challenge though there will be a challenges thread here where you can challenge your fellow members to extra forfeits and rewards!

How do I take part?

Sign-ups for the main site are here but YWS always runs its own little version of the event right here on the YWS forums.

The way it's organised this year will be slightly different as there is currently not a NaPo forum due to the recentt rennovations. This may or may not be re-instated by the 1st April but if it's not, never fear! The plan this year is for each of us to post a single thread in the 'Other Poetry' section of the site and you will use that to post all of your NaPo poems. Be sure to make the description '[my] NaPoWriMo 2012' or the equivalent so that we know you're taking part.

Then people are welcome to post reviews, encouragement or challengers on each others threads. Let's be really interactive this year, the more involvement there is, the more fun everyone has!

*Edit* Because Rosey is awesome, we now have access to the NaPo forums here so you can choose to put your thread either there or in poetry!

Who's ready for NaPo 2012 then? I am and I hope you are too!

Oh gosh, mocks start in two weeks. Practicals just after that and the real exams start in May. I don't know if I'll have the time but I really want to take part to take my mind off things but gah!

I've done it the past three years so I'm not sure if I can avoid it this year either...

Guess what everyone! Rosey found a way to access the NaPo forums so if you look up at the first post, there's now a link to there and you have the option of posting in either poetry or the NaPo forum.

Everyone say thank you Rosey <3
