For anyone who wants to join in the SB, please, PLEASE don't post in the main thread. Either post in the DT or PM me with your profile. Thank you.

Plot:

It is Halloween at night, 1981; and incidentally, it is also the birthday of a very cheerful little one-year-old girl, Alice Potter. However, it was also the last day she would experience any form of happiness for a long time; for it was also the day where she became the Girl-Who-Lived. With both her parents dead and a godfather rumored to have betrayed them, she is left at the doorstep of her aunt, Petunia Dursley, and her family.

However, on her eleventh birthday, she receives a letter telling her that she has been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Of course, she thinks it is a hoax at first, but when the Gamekeeper of Hogwarts comes bursting in through the front door and curses her cousin’s face into a pig snout, she is quite ready to believe him.

And so our story starts, with a little girl standing on Platform 9 and Three-Quarters, carting around school supplies and a snowy owl named Hedwig. Who will she meet? And will the Girl-Who-Lived actually live up to her fame? A complete rehashing of the Potter books, with similar plots but different characters.

Name: Joseph Matthew "Matt" Edmunds. Matt was named after his father and so his middle name is used to distinguish between him and his father.

Gender: Male

School Year: Fourth Year, Ravenclaw

Wand Description: Hawthorn, 12 inches, unicorn hair, rigid.

Appearance: Matt has dark brown hair neatly combed to the side. His eyes are a similar colour and his face is rather round. He is tall and of normal build.
Spoiler
This sounds like a list. Terrible. Fff. xD
He has a scar on the side of his neck which ... he'd rather not talk about.

Personality: Matt is often quiet, and often won't speak without being spoken to around strangers. You'd commonly find him practising spells somewhere as he'd try to practise for his exams and do his family proud. He often blows things up like Seamus although he does pretty well in bookish things.

Around his friends, he's sarcastic yet optimistic. Sometimes he fails horrendously at spells so he often attempts to mess up on purpose to spark a good reaction from the others and not feel like a failure. He refuses to admit failure and is constantly optimistic, always persevering. He can get stubborn at times and is rather insecure about himself, and so uses optimism to cover that over and hope for the best.

History: Matt comes from a large Pureblood Slytherin family, well-known for their academic findings in Potions and Snakes. It isn't surprising that Matt is sorted into Ravenclaw considering his background. However, his family is pro-Voldemort and also studies dark magic which it feeds its findings to Voldemort. They hope to have some share in the new world.

Matt, on the other hand, is an outcast. He liked to play with Muggles in the village and as a result, is constantly told he is a failure and was often told that he shouldn't be part of the family. As a result, he grew up feeling like a let-down and tries to impress his family, but fails, being incredibly nervous and insecure during the chances he has to impress them.

Spoiler
Also, I was unsure where to put this, but Matt can do a trick with cards which his family disapproved of. Since he wandered to the Muggle part of the village, he has been called a let-down since.

Pet: (A cat, an owl or a toad. Other pets may be accepted, but only with special permission, and nothing too dangerous.)

Up for love: Yes. Heterosexual.

Other: Quidditch! He's a keeper and despite the fact he's rubbish at practical stuff, he'd always been the keeper in family Quidditch games. He's on the Quidditch team as Keeper.

Name: Owen Pepperidge

Gender: Male

School Year: Fourth year

House: Gryffindor

Blood Status: Muggle born

Wand Description: The wand is made of red oak and has a core of dragon heartstring. It is 14 inches long and is resilient.

Appearance:

Spoiler
Image
Image

Owen has light brown hair and a tanned complexion. He has expressive eyebrows and golden eyes resembling those of a cat. He is also quite catlike in his movements -- lithe and skinny in contrast to his tough and dependable wand.

He wears the Gryffindor scarf at all times even when it isn't really that cold. Some say he is patriotic while others consider it a vain affectation. Owen says it's because he's used to warmer climates.

Personality:

Chaotic Good

Impulsive and headstrong, Owen is the first to join a fight to protect a friend. He feels all emotions in extremes -- his friends mean the world to him and his rivals are to be challenged at every opportunity. Owen is friendly to strangers but tends to make snap judgements that he finds hard to change.

Owen isn't one to follow rules if he feels strongly about the situation (which he invariably does). He is a strong duelist with quick reactions and a deadeye aim. His main strengths lies in protective magic and spell-casting. His main weaknesses are potions, charms, and herbology.

History:

Having just scraped by in his first three years at Hogwarts, always narrowly avoiding academic probation, Owen has finally got the hang of it. He gave up Quidditch at the end of his third year and (though he misses the sport terribly) he's now achieved the right balance of work and play.

Until, of course, he decided it would be a good idea to form a duelling club...

Pet: None

Up for love: Beginning to be interested in girls but only as duelling partners.

[in progress]

Name: Leopoldina Rockharrow- called Leo when that becomes too much of a mouthful (which is pretty soon in any acquaintance she forms)

Gender: female

School Year: First

House: Gryffindor

Blood status: Pure-blood

Wand Description: Larch with a dragon heartstring core. Eleven inches exactly, pliable

Appearance: Like her five elder sisters, Leopoldina has huge big blue eyes that will make anybody trust her almost immediately. She hasn't yet started experimenting with her thick brown hair, leaving it to grow naturally just past her shoulders. With a slim physique and a clear, pretty face, she's certainly not ugly but Leopoldina is persuaded she will never be beautiful like her sisters. Annoyingly, they seem to agree with her on this point. However, she takes pride in herself and in the name of Rockharrow, being turned out respectably and looking her best at all times.

Personality: Leopoldina is bright and bubbly and somewhat vague. She has a brain, it's just that using it requires a lot of energy that she's far too busy putting into other endeavours. Leopoldina loves animals and is inherently sociable, she will talk to just about anyone. Above all, she wants people to love her. This means that at times she can be a bit of a pushover, ready to bend to the will of those around her without question. But if she means business, she really means business. She can be very stubborn when she is entirely sure what she wants- it comes from living in such a big family and having to work hard to push her case a lot. Leopoldina would do anything for her family though. Absolutely anything. And she knows that they would do the same.

Leopoldina will become passionate about something very quickly, and often leave it by the wayside just as fast. Two exceptions to this rule apply: Fashion and Quidditch. She's had a subscription to Witch Weekly since she was nine (when her closest-in-age sisters went off to Hogwarts and thus their own copies were no longer available at home). She loves clothes and make-up and hair and already thinks she'll end up as a seamstress- Madam Malkin and the attendants at Twilfit's and Tatting's have both commented on how she has a good eye for one so young. Transfiguration, she thinks, will be by far her favourite subject, from what she's heard from her elder sisters, Professor McGonagall is brilliant. She's looking forward to Third Year electives though- Care for Magical Creatures especially, but also Divination.

With a Quidditch commentator as a father, of course Leopoldina loves Quidditch. She has a Cleansweep Six at home, and she hopes she'll make the team some day. Eduaphora, Iphigenia and Lavinia all managed it- and this year Araminta and Quintinia will be trying out. But Leopoldina won't be- after all, the Gryffindor team already has a Seeker. Besides, First Years never make the team.

History: The Rockharrows are the worst sort of blood traitors- rich ones. Leopoldina's father came from a family of three brothers. The others married well into other pure blood families- Malfoys and Blacks. However, Reginald Rockharrow could never forget that Gryffindor girl who was always stealing the Quaffle off him in Quidditch matches- Viola Jenkinson. They eloped in the midst of the terrors arising around He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's return. While Reginald's brothers broke off all contact with him, his father continued to support him financially, not to mention Viola's own inheritance and both of their well-paid jobs- Reginald as a Quidditch commentator and Viola as a Healer in St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

Living on a very comfortable hidden estate in Devon, they have seven children: Eduaphora, Iphigenia, Lavinia, Araminta, Quintinia, Leopoldina and Bartholemew (more commonly known as Phora, Iffy, Lav, Ara, Quin, Leo and Bert.) Leopoldina has grown up in the most loving of homes, but can't help but feel a little overshadowed by her sisters. As soon as she left Hogwarts, Eduaphora had the Ministry gasping to give her an internship, Iphigenia is travelling all over the world as a magic carpet merchant. Lavinia has just been made a prefect and is planning to follow their mother's footsteps and go into healing, while Araminta and Quintinia are already touting their own line of beauty products- for which Leopoldina has always been their guinea pig.

This is her first time away from home, and more than anything, Leopoldina wants to prove- however gently- that beside her sisters, she is still worth something.

Pet: Like all her sisters, (so it wasn't really a surprise), Leopoldina was presented with a snow white kitten just before she went through the barrier onto Platform 9 3/4s. Her name is Angelica.

Up for love: Just a First Year.

Name: Regina Kaytlin Jutsonberg

Gender: Female

School Year: First

House: Slytherin

Blood Status: Muggle-born

Wand Description: The wand is made of ebony and has a core of firebird feather. It is 11 and 1/2 inches long and is pliable. It is very darkly colored and is plainly carved.

Appearance: Regina has messy red hair, large, deep grey eyes and a cold and distant gaze. At most times, she looks like she's living in a completely different world with the expression she permanently wears. She has rosey cheeks that redden easily when she gets embarrassed, or feels strong emotions, which is why she tends to leave her hair down covering most of her face. Like this:

Spoiler
Image

Personality: Regina is a bitter person, she has cold heart and refuses to be told what to do. She is quite stubborn and self-confident. Perhaps she's a little too confident, which drives people away from her.

She is very clever, possibly very sly as well. She is a snobby and very determined person, willing to get what she wants due to her great ambition.

She is also rather lonely, as her typical Slytherin traits have driven her away from friendship, though she often tries to 'slither' her way into groups of friends; at her old school, once she managed to fit into a group, others would notice and dislike her confidence, her want to control everything and and her desire for everything t be done her way.

She is therefore on her own most of the time, believing that one cannot count on others to satisfy yourself, thus she tries to satisfy herself by herself. This is an example of her pride because it shows that she cannont stand people trying to help her, tell her what is right or correct her.

However, she is not impatient - she is very observant, she watches things happen and makes her own judgements of events, even taking into consideration the possible out-comes of situations. This shows her level of concentration and intelligence. It also shows that she the meticulous type, believing in doing something right or not doing it at all. She does things her own way - she hates all types of change that will not suit her.

In all, she is a selfish, proud and lonely person who only closes herself to the world because she thinks nothing is good enough for her, and that nobody understands her. The main reason for this will be explained in her history.

History: Ferdinand Jutsonberg, Regina's grandfather, is the only other known wizard in Regina's family, besides her, so she grew up knowing about wizards - listening to her grandfather telling her such wonderful stories of wizards in an immense castle school, strange magical creatures, spells and whatnots. What she didn't know was why she had to live with him.

Giselle Despommes - a muggle - and Ryan Jutsonberg - a half-blood muggle - were a happy and peace-loving couple, who had a daugther of almost a year-old. Living in the north of the busy city of London, they didn't know of all the havoc happening. They hadn't heard of any war going on, or of people dying suddenly and easily, and they hadn't heard of Death Eaters.

On a cool autumn's afternoon, the couple were visited by a pair of cloaked men, their faces covered; they were killed in a flash of light, innocently as they had nothing to do with any of the events going on in Ferdinand's world.

By the orders of social services, Ferdinand had the baby's custody and the home of his murdered son. Ferdinand took care of Regina as she grew up; he sent her to a normal muggle school like all children her age, he taught her how to ride a bicycle, how to play the piano... he told her of his world - the magical world that made her eyes sparkle up as he told her stories of the beautiful place.

Since the day of her tenth birthday, where her grandfather finally decided what had happened to her parents, she shut herself from the world, believing that she needs nobody, only herself. Her trust in her grandfather decreased - it almost evaporated into oblivion but she couldn't let her love for him go, no matter how hard she tried.

She then had troubles at her school with making friends, believing that it was their faults, not hers.

When she got home one day, frustrated, she began talking to her green toad, Gooey. To her surprise, the toad replied.

On the next day, a sunny May morning, a letter came through the post, announcing Regina's acceptance at the massive castle school her grandfather had always been telling her about.

Pet: A very small and slimy green toad called Gooey that she received for her tenth bithday from her grandfather.

Up for love: She's not old enough :P

Other: Parts of her personality will change throughout her years at Hogwarts.

Name: Saelynn "Sae" Carrow

Gender: Female

School Year: Fourth Year

House: Ravenclaw

Blood Status: Pure blood

Wand Description: The wand is made of rosewood and has a core of dragon heartstring. It is 9 inches long and is inflexible. It is somewhat darkly colored and is elegantly carved.

Appearance:
Spoiler
Image

Sae has long brown-ish red hair that she most often keeps in pigtails or braids. She has bright, innocent green eyes and a cute face. She's most often described as pretty or cute, but rarely beautiful. Still, she catches the eyes of sweet boys and is known for carrying around flowers they have given to her, or wears them in her hair. She always wears a smile, and tries to present herself well at all times.

Personality: Sae is...odd to say the least. She can often be found in a corner of the library with her nose stuck in a book, or wandering around the castle grounds talking to herself. She's rather charming, which maintains many fair-weather friends, however Sae couldn't tell you the last time she felt she had a true friend in her life. Except for Felix, the cat, that is.

Anyone who knew Sae well would understand that she is constantly fearing insanity, and is always worrying about the well-being of her parents. It often affects her studies, and so she has not been on the top of her class in several years. She hides it very well, but at times she becomes quite emotionally unstable, and is (at rare extremes) prone to becoming either depressed or sadistic.

Still, Sae has a reputation as being one of the sweetest girls in the castle, if not also one of the strangest as well.

History: When Sae was a child, her parents were both committed to insane asylums due to never emotionally and mentally recovering from their involvement in the fight against Voldemort and his dark wizards (however it was also thought that their mental instability was of genetic nature and something they had carried through their entire lives). So Sae spent much of her childhood visiting asylums with her caretaker, Miss Daxon.

Sae has no siblings, and was not exposed much to other children (she was home-schooled) until she received her Hogwarts letter and began attending the school. She was pleased to be sorted into Ravenclaw, hoping that would mean she was mentally strong enough to evade insanity. Through her first three years at Hogwarts, she has been a top class student (though now her grades have slipped), one of the youngest chasers in Ravenclaw history (which she still does, if only of the exercise and her love of flying, though her skills have begun to slip), and has begun to express interest in rumors of a dueling club that circulate her year.

Pet: A cat named Felix

Up for love: Sure; straight

Other: Nothing I can think of at the moment

(To be completed!)

Name: Fiona Isibéal O’Connell

Gender: Female

School Year: Third

House: Slytherin

Blood Status: Pureblood

Wand Description: 9 3/4, holly, unicorn tail core, slightly springy

Appearance: Fiona is cold, cruel and calculating. Her hair is long and dark, never tied back, ever. Her skin is smooth and pale, with pink, bow shaped lips. She reaches just over five foot and always holds herself to the tallest height she could possibly reach. Her nose is perfectly straight. Her eyes are a bright, bright green and possibly the warmest thing about her. Her eyebrows and arched, and her eyelashes are long and perfect. Fiona is always clean, neat and tidy with her clothes. Her socks reach just underneath her kneecaps, her skirt always reaching her knees. Her faced is oval shaped and almost always graced with a sarcastic smirk.

Personality: Fiona is a mean, mean person. She’s terribly rude, and believes she should always have her way. She takes great joy in terrible things. Fiona is also a prankster. She loves pulling pranks on anyone and everyone who makes her angry. She could spend hours thinking of one elaborate prank to get back at someone who accidentally pushed her in the corridor. She’s not into the whole ‘opening up and talking about feelings’ thing. This leads her to frigid and unforgiving, and she really is. She has major anger management issues, so she’s quick to lose her temper over what is, usually nothing. She’s aggressive and angry almost all the time.
Fiona also has something to prove, so she’s wildly competitive, and pretty uptight about everything, school, social life. This leads her to be very organized in everything she does. She’s also creative and thoughtful. She isn’t much of a talker, unless she’s yelling at someone or planning a prank. Instead, she chooses to stay in the library, study and read old books.
She likes to ride broomsticks, and is plays on the Slytherin quidditch team. She’s a beater, which helps relieve some of her anger, but not all of it. When she isn’t on the pitch, she is usually with the captain strategizing and plotting to win the next match.
Fiona hides her feelings, and if anyone calls her out on them, she’ll say they’re lying. She’s very over protective of herself and the people and things she loves.

History: Fiona was born to Maude and Duncan O’Connell, in a rather large house just outside of London. She was, from birth, raised as the ‘sweet, innocent princess who could do no wrong.’ She was indulged and over spoiled, and found Hogwarts as a place to escape and revolt against everything she grew up with.
Fiona grew up with an older brother and an older sister. Both went to Hogwarts. Damian went on to be an auror, and Isibéal went on to train dragons. Both her siblings were always perfect in every way possible, and, unsaid by her parents, who ‘want the best for all their children’, she had to live up to them exactly. Although indulged, she was taught from a young age never to complain, and that if she wanted to right something, she would have to do it herself, making her prank her nannies if they did something ‘wrong’. Her parents indulged her too much, and she is self-centered and cruel to people who don’t give her her way. Many of her anger issues could be traced back through to her parents, and the looming perfection of her two older siblings.
Her siblings being much older, Fiona can remember them coming home for Christmas, laden with sweets and gifts for her, her father telling her that she should end up just like them. The O’Connell family was a strained one. Maude and Duncan never talked, leaving their youngest daughter to run messages between them. Fiona’s childhood wasn’t unhappy, just strained, turning her into a protective, cruel and cold young lady.

Pet: Black cat named Syria.

Up for love: Yes. Bisexual.

Other: Fiona wears a claddaugh ring on a chain around her neck. She flips out if she loses it.

Name: Alice Lily Potter.

Gender: Female.

School Year: First Year.

House: Slytherin

Blood Status: Half-blood

Wand Description: The wand is made of elder and has a core of phoenix feather. It is 9 and 3/4 inches long and is springy. It is of a medium tone and is ornately carved.

Appearance: Alice is considered to have a rose-coloured complexion and a long mane of flaming red hair which she likes to keep bound up in a braid. But while she is pretty, she tends to dress comfortably rather than imposingly, gathering her some comments on being a ‘tomboy’. This is compounded by the fact that she wears shirts and jeans the most and doesn’t tuck them in properly, and often has dirt and mud stained all over her clothes, only noticing when it’s pointed out to her.

She is slight of build compared to most girls in her year, and this is because of living at the Dursleys, as well as a high metabolism that often makes her sit with a bucketload of food at any given time. She is however quick and reflexive because of her smallness, which makes her Seeker fodder.

Of course, this section can’t be finished without a reference to her most distinguishing feature; the lightning bolt scar sitting primly on the middle of her forehead. This is probably what outshines her strange amber eyes the best; to the point that if anyone mentions it, she gets irritated and sets them up for a prank later on.

Alice as an adult.

Personality: Unlike the other character whom we shall not name, Alice is not rash or easily angered. She is in fact, quite devious and calm, but has a commanding edge to her voice that enables her to take control of whatever situation she runs into. This however has its own side-effect--people tend to think of her as either arrogant, foolhardy or ‘awesome’, the last impression being derived from her ability to seem like a leader.

However, in reality, her normal behaviour is anything but that of a leader. She’s incredibly lazy, gluttonous and mischievous, preferring to spend her education on pranks rather than being serious about it. She’s fast and slippery, preferring to advance carefully and escape quickly rather than stand up and be brave and bold about it. She is however quite athletic as well, and while she doesn’t like watching sports from the sidelines, she does like playing.

While all this might set her up to be more like her father James than her mother Lily, Alice is good-natured and trusts in her friends to the very end. She is however also rather stubborn, preferring to believe in her own opinion rather than take anyone else’s word for it. She also has a penchant for trying to befriend loners, believing that everyone needs a friend.

History:

Alice was born Alice Potter to parents Lily Evans and James Potter. Most of her past history is well known to everyone--except for herself, that is. On her birthday, (which also happens to be Halloween), Lord Voldemort came and killed both of her parents. However, when he had directed the Killing Curse at the one-year-old baby staring back at him, he soon found himself dead on the floor, and the building collapsing around him.

From the ruins of the cottage the baby Potter girl was saved, only to be cast into a different sort of hell; that of her mother's aunt's family, the Dursleys. Having grown up for ten years straight around her bullying uncle and cousin and her silent aunt, she learned the arts of survival as well as revenge. She often set up her cousin to take the blame in her place, which of course he would be forgiven as soon as he got blamed.

At school this was a largely useful trait; all the bullies were scared of her and all the victims gathered to her like a sheep flocking to their shepherd. She soon had her own little army of children that kept the bullies at bay while she was busy either drawing up new pranks or relaxing.

However, this wasn't to last forever; just before her 11th birthday, she had been told that she would be sent to a new boarding school; Stonewall High, where she'd have to start laying her base all over again. This was of course, something that would've happened sooner or later, but apparently the school was run over with people like Vernon and Dudley.

On Dudley's birthday, she was taken with the Dursleys to a zoo, where pandemonium erupted when she started talking to a snake. This wasn't the first sign that she wasn't normal, of course; but it was the first obvious sign. Somewhat weirded out, she wasn't sure what to expect when the first letter from Hogwarts came on her birthday. She hid it from Vernon and actually managed to get through half of it when he found her with it, snatching it away and burning it.

And the letters started coming, one after another. Through the mailbox, down the chimney, into Vernon's car. Out of desperation, he man decided to take the entire family on a 'seaside vacation', where Alice found herself sleeping on the cold floor and enduring her cousin's loud snores. All this, however, was relatively normal to what came bursting through the front door; Rubeus Hagrid, the Hogwarts Gamekeeper.

What he told her proved her theory that something was wrong with her; or extra-special about her, whatever way she took it. And it wasn't as if not believing him would net her anything; anything was better compared to living with the Dursleys. She left with him that very night and didn't look back.

The next day she was introduced to Professor Quirrell, the Leaky Cauldron, and Diagon Alley. There she got her first pet and her first wand, and learned all about her parents and the Wizarding World in general; and left to deal with Platform Nine and Three Quarters on her own.

Pet: She has a snowy owl she named Hedwig from a random book.

Up for love: Well, she's a first year, so not yet. But if you must know, she's straight.

Other: Nothing right now.

Name: Allen Selwyn.

Gender: Male.

School Year: First.

House: Gryffindor.

Blood Status: Pure-Blood.

Wand Description: The wand is made of cypress and has a core of dragon heartstring. It is 10 and 1/2 inches long and is swishy. It is very darkly colored and is elegantly carved.

Appearance: One of the most outstanding parts of Allen's appearance has to be his platinum-blond hair, which is so light in colour it almost seems white. With that and a scar over his left eye, Allen could've been poster boy for one of the most odd-looking people on the planet. This, however, is off-set by his warm and inviting gray-blue eyes, and while most people would probably be taken aback by the scar at first sight, everyone acknowledges that he does, in general, look cute. Sometimes even to the point of 'as pretty as a girl', even.

While he has a fairly athletic build, he is fairly short, and dislikes it when anyone points it out; because despite what his height might imply, he does have an enormous appetite, which is part of the reason why he and Alice get on so well together. However, unlike her he likes to dress neatly, and tends to look his best when he wears formal clothing.

Personality: Allen is like a bottle trying to burst out; he's extremely polite, gentlemanly, and even has a saviour complex to boot; but either mention gambling or hurting anyone close to him and you've got a volcano on your hands. The reason for those are quite different, however; while he hates having his closest people hurt, he absolutely does not hate gambling. It is in fact, one of his primary skills, and mentioning bets of any sort will have him standing up on the spot.

Despite this, however, he does genuinely care for people, wanting to save every person he can (and dragging Alice everywhere) rather than standing by and letting them die. This might get annoying, but he usually worms his way into people's hearts so well that no one can (usually) tell him to stuff it.

However, he's very manipulative, preferring to charm his way out of arguments and fights and able to worm his way into most everyone's emotional weaknesses. This often makes him hated by people he's talked his way around, and others simply are so taken in they never notice they're being hypnotized, so to speak.

History: Where to start? Perhaps it is best to start at the beginning, with Allen's parents. His father had died before he was born, in a duel with another wizard, and his mother had died from giving birth to him. Left all alone in the world as a baby, he had been given over to his godfather, who happened to have a side job as a circus clown in the Muggle world.

However, when Allen turned 7, his godfather also ended up dying, leaving him to be taken care of by another person down the list of people who could; a Head of Ministry Department whose sole pleasures in life were to drink ten dozen bottles of wine every day and sleep around with any woman he found. The saddest part of all this was that the poor child was obliged to pay for his expenses. At first Allen did rather dangerous jobs (which shall be left vague) but then, realizing that he couldn't pay for everything like this and keep risking his life, he turned to poker.

And what a good poker player he turned out to be! But the more he earned from his shady dealings, the more the captain demanded, until the poor boy was quite ready to throw himself off a cliff. This was just before his letter came, and in all honesty, he was ready to run away on his birthday when the letter to Hogwarts came. This, he realized, was the best way to stay away from his 'uncle'. So he stayed, but only for a day more; then he left for Diagon Alley and then King's Cross, where he'd meet Alice on Platform Nine and Three Quarters.

As for the scar...well, that's a secret.

Pet: Nothing right now.

Up for love: First year, but straight. Is that good enough?

Other: Nothing.

Placeholder; female slytherin.

Will finish soon, hopefully. Busy, busy, busy. x.x

Name: Samara Devereux.

Gender: Female.

School Year: First year.

House: Slytherin.

Blood Status: Half-blood.

Wand Description: Elm, 16 inches, phoenix feather core. Dark and finely carved.

Appearance: Like most of her family, Samara takes after their mother, with long, curly brown hair, brown eyes and pale skin. And also like her most of her family, though she’s currently a little short, she’s still slim and athletic and will one day grow into a beautiful young women, but at the moment, she’s just another somewhat gangly pre-teen witch. As a member of a pureblood family, she’s expected (mostly by her father and other pureblooded wizards and witches) to be dressed impeccably and to behave according to pureblood society. She prefers light, airy clothing but in earthy tones. She’s often seen being followed around by her cat, Salem.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Samara hides he kind yet rebellious and somewhat curious nature behind a nasty but quiet facade while plotting how next to toy with the other students or maybe try to make friends. With a snarky mouth when she actually speaks and a sometimes too confident attitude, Samara often gets in trouble and has done so one too many times--especially with her father and most often receiving a lecture on how a pureblooded young witch should behave, despite her mother being a muggle-born witch. Samara is smart and talented, but her downfall is often her temper and her smart mouth. She often acts before thinking and is often kind when none of the others in her so-called social circle are around. When she is not getting into trouble, she's often trying to avoid fights as some of the others highly dislike her strange and somewhat muggle ways.

Although he mother is a muggle-born witch and her father a pureblood, Samara’s upbringing was very pureblooded, so she knows all the dances and little tricks they use, but isn’t always comfortable with that. She’s too kind for her own good, sometimes, despite her somewhat unapproachable facade. Samara is often seen as cunning little trickster, and she’s definitely set up her fair share of pranks, to the annoyance of her siblings, parents and the other pureblood families and their children. Despite all this, she’s really timid and a little shy once you get past the mask, but if she has an opinion, she won’t hesitate to let you know about it, even if it’s probably not the best idea for her to do so.

History: Samara’s upbringing has always been rather...strained. With a pureblooded wizard for a father and a muggle-born witch for a mother, one could easily see how things could get complicated. Since she was young, Samara was taught all the dances, tricks and beliefs of her father’s family. And she didn’t always like it, finding something wrong with what she was being told most of the time. She was told off and punished promptly if she ever voiced her opinions on her father’s pureblood ideals.

Her mother, on the other hand, always encouraged her children to be unique, to fight for the ideals they wanted and to try to change things for the better. But never in front of her father, of course. Samara took this advice to heart, and set about making sure she didn’t let her father’s views corrupt her own. It was more than she could say for her siblings. She enjoyed talking to her mother, and, despite her father’s drawbacks, highly disliked disappointing him, as she was the more likely of her siblings to do so.

She enjoyed the life her father had to offer; she never wanted for food, money, clothes or any number of other things. With a pureblood name backing her up, Samara was brought up amongst the rich, the somewhat famous and the pureblooded. And she barely even liked any of it, but she put up with the talk, the teasing and anything and everything else that was thrown her way--with her head held high. And then she got her letter for Hogwarts, just like she’d seen her other siblings get. She was ecstatic! Finally, she was going to learn more than what little spells her parents had taught her.

Pet: Samara owns a black cat named Salem.

Up for love: She’s 11, and accordingly, not interested in love yet. She will turn out to be bisexual, much to the shock of her father.

Other: Knows a few spells, some of which are rather...questionable. You can blame her father for that. The rest are mostly helpful little ones her mother taught her, such as Lumos and Alohomora.

Name: Alastair Feldon-Wood (Ali is a preferred nickname)

Gender: Male :smt003

School Year: First Year

House: Slytherin

Blood Status: Half-Blood

Wand Description: The wand is made of pine and has a core of phoenix feather. It is 12 and 1/2 inches long and is unyielding. It is somewhat darkly colored and is elegantly carved.

Appearance: Very small and slight for his age, Alastair is often dwarfed by his peers. He has slightly catish features, dark brown hair that falls over his forehead and sharp blue eyes that look a little too sharp for some peoples liking. Alastair's skin is tan and he has a birthmark on his back which he pretends is a snake but actually looks nothing of the sort. He is often quite meticulous about his dress sense, and prides himself on keeping his robes spotless.

Personality: Alastair is quick witted and tends to pop up in unexpected places. An only child, he often finds it slightly harder to talk to others and feels much more at home in the company of teachers. He is a young 1st year, and sometimes feels left behind in physical maturity by his peers.

Alastair is prone to unfortunately being a little tactless with humour and conversation, and often does not understand why so many things are unsaid. He however is quick to defend himself and is sometimes a little sensitive when it comes to imperfection (he does not like to admit he's wrong)

Although Alastair has no talent for quiditch, he excels in transfiguration and often finds himself better at the more graceful and precise versions on magic, unlike potions and defence against the dark arts.

History: Alastair's mother is a muggle novelist and his father works for the ministry in the department of control and regulation of magical creatures. They are a small middle class wizarding family, and his father's side spans back into many generations of wizards. Alastair's mother and father placed a huge emphasis on educating Alastair from a young age and he was often encouraged to practice magic before enrolling in Hogwarts.

The family inhabit a small detached house in Herefordshire where they live relatively comfortable and isolated lives. Alastair's father, was sorted into raven-claw and often worries about the traits his son expresses. There is a small part of him that is scared of his son and sometimes Alastair can sense that.

Alastair cannot wait to start Hogwarts, he is keen to start his studies and explore the grounds. Overall Alastair's main problem is his curiosity, that often leads him to sneak off in places he is forbidden to and sometimes take things he's not meant to...

Pet: A brown and white ferret called Pollux from a muggle pet shop instead of a magical pet shop. (Is that okay, I know we were only supposed to have cats, owls or toads)

Up for love: Alastair isn't really sure of anything to do with love yet. Orientation wise, I don't think he has decided or given it much though.

Other: Can't think of anything extra at the moment!
Everything has been figured out, except how to live.

Name: Benjamin Oswald Fletcher

Gender: Male

School Year: First Year

House: Ravenclaw

Blood Status: Half-blood

Wand Description: His wand is made of dogwood with a dragon heartstring core. It is 10 1/2 inches and unbending. Overall the wand is very plain-looking.

Appearance: Ben looks pretty much like any other 11 year old boy. He is quite thin with pale skin from always playing indoors all the time. He has shaggy black hair that reaches just below his ears and is constantly falling down over his face, not that he does much to prevent it. His eyes are light brown though it can be hard to tell from the thick black-framed glasses he wears. Clothes aren't something he worries about much and whenever he isn't in his school uniform he just throws on whatever cleanish things happen to be laying around. He also wears a beanie all the time outside of class.

Spoiler
Image

Personality: Ben is weird. His introduction into the magical world was through the few books his mother had access to and once those ran out he went to less credible sources to feed his thirst for knowledge. The limited interaction he's had with wizarding folk, mostly from the handful of times his maternal grandparents have visited, has made it clear that most value heritage above intelligence or even basic human courtesy. Using the knowledge he's gathered, most of it not actually true, he plans to forcefully change the wizarding world into a better place where all people (and creatures, except spiders because they suck) are treated equally.

He is also adept at charms which he experiments with whenever free time presents itself. Muggle objects are the most common victim of his tests; things like yo-yos, rubix cubes, and bouncy balls are twisted into slightly-magical-but-not-really-that-dangerous weapons for his world domination plan. Friends, if he ever makes any, are categorized in his mind into various positions in his new world order. He also has a habit of marking someone as his enemy fairly quickly if he doesn't like them, not that the other person ever feels the same. In fact, most of the time they don't even know who Benjamin Fletcher is at all.

History: Ben's family lives in the the town of Baconsthorpe in a nice enough house. His mother and father met and married here so they're close to his grandparents on his dad's side, though there is little interaction on his maternal side. His mother groomed his interest in the magical from a very early age in hopes that he would inherit the power she never gained as a Squib, the odds were even greater as his father is a muggle.

The family is well enough off. His mother teaches at a secondary school while his father is middle management at a software company. Richard, his dad, took the magic thing as a surprise, but got used to the idea of a wizard in the family. His mother pressured him even more after he started showing signs of accidental magic, she sees it as his duty to prove himself to his grandparents and be accepted back into their inheritance. He could care less about bigoted old bats like them.

Pet: Dark green toad with yellow spots named Chaucer.

Up for love: Benjamin likes nice strolls around the school lake and would rather enjoy finding a lovely lass to dominate the world with someday. Right now, though, he's a young boy who doesn't like girls that way.

Other: Nope.

Name: Valentina Esparza.

Gender: Female.

School Year: First year.

House: Gryffindor.

Blood Status: Pure blood.

Wand Description: Her wand is made of mahogany and has a core of sphinx hair. It is 13 inches long and is pliable. It is lightly colored and is ornately carved.

Appearance: At eleven years old, Valentina stands at 5’3. She is fairly slender but an average weight for her age. She holds herself almost defiantly, something which makes many wary of approaching her for fear that she will push them away or dislike them. Her face shape is something of a cross between oval and heart shaped. Her eyes stare out from above a fairly long nose and angular face, dark and often imperceptible. Her hair reaches just past her shoulders, a brown so dark it is almost black but still remains natural. She keeps herself tidy but natural, not wearing make-up or styling her hair but always keeping clean. Some call her pretty but it is not an orthodox, common prettiness – there’s something unfriendly and hidden away beneath those dark eyes, something nobody can ever seem to reach. Most who try to delve too deeply end up having to abandon their efforts and concentrate again on what they can see on the surface.

Personality: Valentina is not an easy person to understand or get close to. She is ambitious and hard-working, and many people wonder why she was not placed in Slytherin. While she pays a decent amount of attention to schoolwork, it has never been her priority and she believes that there is something more important that she should seek, something more worth her time and ambitions. A cause worth joining. She desires friends but possibly due to her strange uprbringing, she doesn’t understand the difference between friends and followers as well as most of the other first-years do. She seeks to impress and knows that she will be loyal to whatever cause she eventually chooses to follow. She is not so much brave as reckless, a trait which may well have added to her being sorted into Gryffindor.

To many she seems slightly distant at times, willing to impress, superstitious and scornful of things she does not improve of. She is also a slightly unbalanced person, and her uncertainty of where she is meant to be in the world causes her to lash out at things and people often and hard. She is interested in the dark arts, something she will soon learn to hide from her fellow Gryffindors since they would scorn and fear her for it. But it something she is inevitably drawn to and spends much time researching and thinking about.

Valentina is not a sympathetic person. Although she does and would feel guilt about causing serious harm or upset to a person she tends to try and mask it to the best of her ability. She is always swayed the wrong way slightly, almost addicted to the feeling of power. However, she does not wish to be alone; she desperately wishes for somebody to understand her and be closer to her, but often falls down further for the fact that she finds it difficult to form such relationships.

History: Born to the Esparza family, a pure-blood family which both had a lot of pressure placed on it from outside sources and placed a lot of pressure on the children they were upbringing, Valentina had a completely magical upbringing. There was a time when she was a cheerful, inquisitive child, but this was soon put to a stop when she was shut away for much of the time after her parents discovered her playing with muggles. Furious, they forbode her to go outside again without permission again. Most of the Esparza family were Slytherins, and so when her sister Elle (older than Valentina by four years) was sorted into Hufflepuff, they were furious and on the verge of disowning her.

Of course, this led them to place even more pressure on Valentina to become a Slytherin, as their last and only hope. Before she left for school, they promised her they would send her a howler if she ended up in any other house, disgracing them by doing so.

Her parents and grandparents were each well off but slightly unstable with the pressure and belief that pure-blood was the best. Almost brainwashed into believing this about pure-bloods but driven to hate her family for the unjust pressure they placed on her, Valentina swayed from one view to another, uncertain. What happens at Hogwarts will greatly determine her future view on the world of witchcraft and wizardry in general, as well as the world of non-magical muggles.

Valentina’s grandfather is currently residing at St Mungo’s Hospital. Despite being a pure-blood, he was also a Gryffindor rather than a Slytherin and a man known to do some good things in his lifetime. Unfortunately, he hasn’t talked much since his incident with a plant which attempted to strangle him and left him with permenant brain damage which could not be fixed by magical spells or remedies.

Pet: A large black barn owl named Monteith.

Up for love: No, since she’s only in the first year.

Other: Nothing.

Name: Cillian (pronounced Killian- it's Irish) Tooley

Gender: Male

School Year: Fourth

House: Slytherin

Blood Status: Pure blood

Wand Description: The wand is made of sweetgum and has a core of phoenix feather. It is 15 inches long and is springy. It is somewhat lightly colored and is plainly carved.

Appearance: He's a rather short and agile fellow. Even though he's fourteen, he looks like he could be 12 because he hasn't hit that growth spurt yet. Any year now, right? He's got dark features and amber eyes, set with a pointed nose and a triangular jawline. He's got a number of funny quirks. For example, his ears get red rather easily - be it the cold or embarrassment. He's usually staring out the window or absentmindedly glancing at his notes, tossing back his long head of hair.

People, he really needs a hair-cut. He looks like a sheepdog, his hair always gets in his eyes.

Personality:

Overly ambitious and rather obnoxious. He's got a will to set the skies ablaze if he could, that is to say, absolutely nothing will stop him when he's got a drive to do something. He's not exactly an overbearing know-it-all, but an overbearing do-it-all. That being said, for the most part, he's rather friendly and charming so long as you don't get in his way. If you do get in his way, then you're an enemy.

Also, he's a connoisseur of the finest things. He likes appearances and he likes to always look his best. For the record, just because his clothes match down to the cufflinks and the shoelaces, doesn't mean he's gay.

He also hates short-jokes.

Cill doesn't have many, what he calls true friends, so his cat, Puckers, is his confidante. He tells his cat everything, down to what he ate for lunch. One day he hopes to collect Pucker's memories and jot down his autobiographical memoir.

History: He comes from a rich, Irish family. They're Catholics, the lot of them and he's an only child. His mother is obsessed with "dear Cilly" and his father never talks to him except via letters (he's overseas dealing with archeological sites of magical objects that are of historical significance) so one is likely to find Cil at the owlery.

Once upon a time, at the tender age of 9, Cil managed to conjure himself a boat and was considered a runaway. He would've got in big trouble with the Statute of Secrecy, but was found less than 24 hours later, not 20 km away from his estate. His parents had to use their influence big-time that day. His intentions? Well, he couldn't wait another two years to receive his Hogwarts invitation and get away from home, so he was trying to chart his own way there.

Pet: A well-trained cat named Puckers. When I say this cat is well-trained, I mean it in the way that he's been toilet-trained (Focker-style).

Up for love: Yosh.

Other: Potions is his specialty.
Has been a chaser on the quidditch team for the past 2 years.
