Hey Y'all.

In regards to the oppressing and overwhelming tempest of homework, social events and volunteering that has become my day to day life, there is an appalling lack of time I spend of YWS. To solve this problem, I've decided to create a NEW kind of SB, one where the story doesn't need constant grooming or attention.

My concept is this: what if I were to create a world, extremely diverse and wide, explain it down to the very upmost level and then let the rest of YWS populate it with individual or collaborative plot lines?

Thus, Talmor was born.

A giant region encompassing everything from sky-challenging mountain ranges to the speckling archipelagos isolated in the center of the horizon-claimning seas. It's people are as different in culture and appearance as the imagination can create, with a myriad of powerful and greedy titans wreaking havoc and forces of justice spreading health and hope to all in response. Workers of magic study the secrets of the universe as great warriors clash in epic duels of draconic proportions. I think you guys get the idea so far.

Plot is completely up to the author(s), as long as it does not affect other people's story lines (without their permission, of course)

You don't need to post a character profile, but I'd prefer it because it helps me keep tabs on everything, and it helps prevent god-modding.

You guys can come up with whatever you want to throw at Talmor, but I've got a few cultures and regions which my posts will focus on. Feel free to post on something completely unrelated; it's what the whole SB is about.

I'll introduce the regions I'm writing about through an excerpt from Greifinal, the traveller and historian.

Book One, Chapter One ~ The Bori-Saleis War

Although it is not universally recognized, the majority of Talmorian peoples agree that the world had to come from somewhere. The process of exactly how this came to be is the one most widely disputed upon. It would take centuries to record and present the near infinite variance of mythology that Talmor experiences, so most historians start at the point where the majority of cultures agree daily life as we know it began.

The Borian people inhabit the mountain range known as the Titan's Steps. Originally a simple nomadic tribe, the Borian nation rose to power after several centuries of violent conquest with the other nomadic peoples in the immediate areas. This bloody and grueling warfare decimated almost the entirety of non-Borian life in Titan's Steps. This great feat was only achievable due to the immense magical powers the Borian people have at their disposal.

The humanoid is at a disadvantage in the mountainous range when compared against creatures in possession of resistance to the cold and flight, yet the Borians compensated by being born with mastery of the art of Bonding. Unique in nature, those with this gift are able to link on a primal level with another non-humanoid creature. Thus, linked with the wildlife of the region, the Borians had the ability to become the most dominant force in the North-western corner of Talmor. Their government is comprised of a number of warlords each assigned a city or province in the nation to govern locally.

The leading monarch is referred to as the Titan-Bane, decided by a tournament called the Step's Challenge. The tournament is riddled with tests of strength, wisdom and patience. The current Titan-Bane is thirteen-time recurring winner of the Step's Challenge, Sven Ygillnir, Cloud Conquerer. He reigns from Boria's capital, called Titan's Pride, alongside his Bond, a nigh on godly Dragon.

Similar to other humanoids, and in addition to Bonding, each Borian has the ability to learn other forms of magic through careful patience and study. Unfortunately, this is a hard task as the Borians have yet to develop a literacy-teaching education system, preferring children to learn combat techniques and ethics in the place of mathematics and art. This is almost the opposite of the Saleisians.

Saelis is a cluster of islands located due east of Boria, separated by stretches of ocean and linked together by a web of bridges, referred to as the Works. They were originally built to promote trade between the Saelis and one of the now-extinct cultures of Titan's Steps. Boria eventually conquered this people, angering the Saelisans. In an act of vengeance and to save the collapsing economy, the Saelisans invaded the shoreline of Boria but found themselves ill-prepared to fight against the mighty Borians.

The initial defeats in Boria led to a Saelisian retreat to the Works, where their superior navy gave them an advantage that was enough to counter the Borian's power.

The Saelisian culture was built around language and it's magics, to the point that by "inking" certain phrases or words into the skin of a Saelisian mage gave that Saelisan unnatural powers. Common words are "Speed" or "Strength" often inked into the legs or arms of the Saeilisans. Less commmon are words of "Flame" or "Flight", as these do give powers to the Saelisian, they require more energy to activate and are not passively acting.

Thus, the two nations of magically gifted humanoids have been locked in combat, tearing apart the Works. The Borians cannot retreat due to the collapsing of the bridges behind them, and they cannot stand much more of fighting in an unnatural environment against constant artillery. The Titan-Bane can fight against the ships, but he can't be everywhere at once. The Saelisians cannot retreat because then the Borians would destroy them, and they cannot hold out much longer because the only reason their nation survived was off the trade with the other nation.

Thus, the Bori-Saelis War raged and is continuing to rage on, perpetually locked between two dying forces of massive power. Luckily, this combat does not affect the rest of Talmor too badly.

Woah, that was long. And that's only ONE of the ideas I have for Talmor. If everyone who joins this SB can come up with another idea like that, we can have this awesome collection of stories in this mystical land. There is no set time period; feel free to post for Talmor in the futuristic setting, where technology and magic reign supreme, or in the past, as the very first semblances of civilization emerge. It's up to you!

If you read all this post so far, I really hope you get the idea I'm trying to go for here. Take Talmor, make your own plot or join anothers, and then post whenever you feel like it! Third-person or First-person is fine, and you don't need to make a character, but if you do please use the following profile:

Name:
Age: (Practically anything if you want)
Race: (Again, let your imagination go crazy)
Allegiance: (Either write the faction your character belongs to, or a God they worship, or their job description)
Time Period: (Dawn of Time, Bori-Saelis Wars, Cyber-tastic future, it's up to you! )
History:
Personality:
Magic: (If any)
Skills:
Weapons:
Other:

No character limit.

Then its just your regular rules: Feel free to swear, but refrain from being to graphic. Lets Keep it appropiate for 14 year olds.
Don't god-mod ( 'cause it's just mean).
No killing other charries (without the authors' permission)
Don't leave Talmor.

That's about it for now, and I'll post more about ideas I have as time passes. Good Luck!
With friends and courage one can stand against all foes, for neither man nor God can conquer those who are not alone
