Recently started re-watching the Star Wars films (except Phantom Menace because that's out in 3D in feb) and have fallen in love with them all over again. I tried drawing Luke, but that failed, so i drew Ani

Hi Blood! Awkward....

I'm a born Sci-Fi fan (not the geek/nerd type, just fanatic) therefore including Star Wars in my reading/watching list. And I appreciate any Star Wars fan who can create art with it.

Your drawing was very nice actually! Here's a breakdown:

Face:
I really love the face of Ani that you drew. The nose was perfectly shaped, the mouth muscles were emphasized (one smiley for that!) and the eyes, oh the eyes. I think it would be the result either plotting revenge to a whole armada...or watching movies all night long. They were very emotional and full of anger. Grrrrarr. Watch the coloration though....

Cloak:
The cloak is a different story. I'm not the very best sketch artist around, but I think the coloring of the cloak was a bit drab. And the upper area is a bit oddly drawn, I didn't get the picture quite right. But still, it was a great effect to hide Ani's face with the hood !

Overall:
Fear it, hate it, love it. This was my first impression of your work. Great hands, girl! You have great artistic hands

Achuta. (if you are as big a fan as me, or if you have talked to me before on chat, you should know what this means) (or you are just good at figuring things out) Anyway, being that I OBSESS over Star Wars (not exaggerating), I must be quite honest here. I love the fact that you just drew Ani in the first place, and I appreciate how well you did. However, I feel that maybe the lips were a little too big, prominent, I'm trying to find the right word here. I don't do much art review. My first time actually. So please bear with me. And I felt that it was sort of odd having only the eyes be in color. I do like the effects of the cloak, and I know that this is when Anakin turns to the Dark Side, but I feel that the picture itself is a little too dark. Perhaps if you used some more color on his face, or used a different paper it wouldn't seem so dark. Other than this, I really do love the picture. And I like that you enjoy Star Wars as well. Perhaps we could catch up sometime later. So, keep writing (or drawing ), and may the Force be with you.

Okay, so I'm not a Star Wars fan, therefore I can't comment on the accuracy of your art, though I do see the likeness xD
Some things I did note though:
1) I consider the sketchy effect of your shading of the cloak. It could be a style to create an edgy feel, but if so, I'd advise you to be consistent with the face too. Some parts of the face are a tad rough in shading, but otherwise quite smooth in stark contrast to the cloak.
2) His fully visible eye: the whites of it are not consistently reddened at the edges. From the viewer's POV, the left bit has the red tinge at the edges but it's completely white on the right corner (Note: I'm not referring to around th pupil)
3) His cloak looks like it's overwhelming him.
4) I see the toning of his skin, but as for the obvious shaded parts, they don't blend into the rest of the skin tone, so it looks unnatural because I can see the clear boundaries of your shading.
5) Hair: There isn't much of it shown since it's obscured by the cloak. However, whatever wisps and tufts that are visible can be drawn with more detail (instead of quick, rough pencil strokes) to give greater life and character. Imagine Ani with sultry waves in his hair and such
Anyway, I know I've said a lot, but it's still a great piece of work! Better than what I'm capable of xD

First off-- you are excellent at drawing. The face especially has great lines and you shaped his features wonderfully. However, the shading in the rest of the picture kind of looks like you just got lazy. I'd highly reccomend going through and blending it a bit more, maybe add depth to that, because it looks like they were worked on at such different levels and with such different amounts of effort that it's another person altogether.

Otherwise, really, really excellent.

Gah thanks guys, the comments really helped. I've got it stuck up on my door, but when i can be bothered to get my drawing pencils out again i will most definitely go over the dodgy bits. I did kind of get lazy with the cloak, there was just SO much of the cloak to colour in so i kept changing pencil thickness and stuff and so it all came out weird, but i just thought i'd see what you guys thought before i changed it.

So, i've edited that again on paper and then edited the hood a bit on photoshop and the lips. I don't know if it looks any better, but i feel like it was ruined the minute i tried to even put colour onto his face on paper.

I feel like he looks even darker and meaner here...

Hey there! You have some amazing talent here; I've always had trouble getting emotion into my portraits, but you've done quite well.

The two new versions are greatly improved! However, my biggest nitpick is the mouth. On a woman, it would look absolutely beautiful, but for Ani the lips are far too plump. The shape is good, but the bottom lip is too big. Also, the color in the top picture is far too pink. It looks like he's wearing lipstick...

The eye is very nice, but the iris could use some work. The pupil is centered very high in it, making the iris itself seem more oval-shaped than round. It looks sort of cat-like (it's been a while since I've seen the movies, though, so I apologize if that's how it's supposed to look).

Other than that, very nice drawings; the newer unedited one is my favorite, though. The scowl-lines are great, as is the nose. Noses are my weak-point, so I salute you for drawing it so well.

Ah yes, thanks The lips got annoying and i rubbed them out a lot, but i ended up just giving up and giving him weird looking lips. I'll go back to that and edit it later
