From today on, I let down my pride, and do what is told

I started working on this about a month ago, and I've been so busy the only time I've had to work on it has been bits and pieces during the night. I can usually make a drawing within a few days, but I let this one take it's time. I still don't really feel like it's finished, but I'm pretty sick of looking at it and want to move onto another project lol xD





I thought the background and editing I did was too bright, so here's an earlier version of the project. I'd like to know what you guys think.



I probably used at least six different references for things like the skeleton, kneeling position, bird, sword....

I like the first picture better than the second one, to be honest. The whole drama with the colours really emphasizes the atmosphere. I like the situation that you've planned out for us. The hero who is faced with the antagonist and seems powerless with his sword on the ground. What I did not like in particular was the sword. The hilt of the sword seemed awkward because of those shiny coloured specks on it. And I'm confused as to where the blood of the sword is coming from. Whether it's from the villain or if it is the hero's own blood and if so, where's wound on either character?

I like the colouring a lot and again, the hair looks great The skeleton appearance and the red shimmering of the bones really brings about the power of that character. I also like the detail on the rib-cage. Very nice work, indeed.

Keep drawing, Blacky! You're a great artist. I might find myself picking up the brush one day too ^.^

Dude this was freaking epic. I like the guy with all the darkness surrounding him. It reminds me of Venitas from kingdom hearts. I usually don't even like 'art' because I'm so much better with words than pictures but this picture really did say a thousand words and I think that the second one is better.

Whoa! I just feel like this whole thing just has a story. It's one of those peices that you look at and just wonder what the story is behind it. It's so dramatic, and just blows you away. And oh my God, they have ELBOWS!!! Awesome, I must say that I'm really proud! They have elbows, and wow, there is such definition and demention in those bones, your shading and blending is amazing(please excuse me if my art lingo isn't accurate). I have to disagree with you on the backgrounds, I think the brightness of the background adds brilliant contrast to the scene. This is great(as usual)!

I have to give you some pretty huge props for this one. The sheer definition on certain aspects: the way the bones gleam with dimension; the subtle definition of musculature; and the uniqueness of the crows; it all reflects some pretty sweet talent you have going on.

But there are, of course, some things that you can focus on improving in the future.

I'll start out with the weird one. The way the knight is kneeling, the height where you put him, and where his face ends up compared to the skeleton...is a bit bad. I certainly won't say what it looks like, but it totally looks wrong--in an awkward way. SO. This actually ties in with something else!

My second critique would be the further definition of the scene. What you've given us is a great image, and we can see surrender and malice and pain and all that jazz, but what about the story behind it? What battle scars can we see, or burning landmarks? Destroyed ground? The background and details beyond the subjects are totally important, and it's important to remember that when constructing something that'll be as awesome as this is.

I think someone else has pointed out the hilt of the sword being a bit dwarfed, and I definitely like the blood on the blade. Just...work on your positioning!
