United States Academy of Wizardry (Open/ Not Started)

Wizards and witches aren't all contained to Britain. In fact, every country of the planet has witches and wizards. And these witches and wizards need training, education, so that they can go out into the world and be the spectacularly magical people that they so want to be. In America, this is a large campus hidden in Area 51, invisible to muggled due to a brilliant charm. Wizards and witches from all over Canada and the United States head to this academy in Nevada, with its large marble structures and statues and giant sports fields. (Quidditch is mainly in Europe, not the western hemisphere. There are other sports over here.)

People get their messages---sometimes in the form of a letter, other times email, a lot of times phone calls for the muggle-borns--- at their twelfth summer. These witches and wizards are weirded out at first if their muggleborn, but they all end up getting into the jist of things at the United States Academy of Wizardry.

The United States Academy of Wizardry was founded a relatively short time ago--- just after the civil war. Many of the witches and wizards had been trying to move towards educational reform, but it took the gruesome war tactics of two powerful wizards, Robert E Lee and Ulysses S Grant, to really show them that little witchlings and wizardlings needed to be socialized and taught. Hearing about the acclaimed Hogwarts in Britain, a great witch by the name of Penelope Darrow decided to start a school in Nevada. The Roswell crash provided an excellent explanation for strange lights in the sky and the government action to keep people out, but it was purely coincidence.

Like Hogwarts, the United States Academy of Wizardry is organized. There are three dormitories, each separated for girls and for boys. The first dormitory is called Aviator's Wing. This dormitory is for those who resemble birds in their demeanors and values (animagology is a required course): free-spirit, ambition, optimism, daydreaming. The next dormitory is called Dragon's heart. This is for the passionate, those with anger and fire, fierce loyalty, and the impulsivity of fighters. The last dormitory is Centaur's Bow, for those who are trustworthy. Dependable. Stable. Balanced. The dormitaries are decided by a wise old phoenix, who simply nudges with its beak towards the dormitary meant for each witch and wizard, where they will stay for the next 6 years.

But all is not well in the school. Bullying and drug use are rampant. The invisibilty charm around the school and even the government protection aren't keeping it safe from muggle infiltration. And soon there will be a muggle-magic war upon us!

Now here are the rules:

*Narrate in third person.

*No Mary-Gary Sues.

*Swearing is allowed to bring the story to life. But do not let characters swear when it does not fit their personality. That is countereffective. The same applies for sex (NOTHING DESCRIPTIVE THOUGH).

*Do not post a billion times a day, especially no double-posting. The pace should be slow. This will be a good story.

Name: Silver Runestone (some call him Shadowdragon behind his back)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Dormitory: Dragon's Heart
Hair: Golden blonde with the texture of silk. Half an inch past his waist and tied in a ponytail braid to keep it out of his eyes.
Eyes: Quite normal eyes, if you call grey eyes normal. His eyes are normal human eyes, but they're grey and take up the color of blue or violet if the said color is what he's wearing.
Face: He has an oval-shaped face, but his mouth's a tad bit small for his face and the face itself gives him the appearance of a girl. In spite of the shape of his face, he has a widow's peak hairline.
Skin: He's milk white pale, but only when he's in a lit room. The reason why some call him Shadowdragon is because his pale skin doesn't stick out when he's hiding in the shadows. He has rather smooth skin in spite of his skin tone.
Stature: He's as tall as five-foot-nine, with an athletic build and looks a tad bit underweight- as much as maybe 80 pounds, give or take an ounce. In spite of this, he's very light on his feet when it comes to dancing and quick reflexes when it's down to potions and the use of his wand.
Personality: He's quiet most of the time, but don't let that fool you. He's very sensitive about his dormitory. Insult his dormitory in front of him or when he's earshot, be somewhere else. He's got a very vile temper that often gets in the way of his homework and whatnot.
Favorite classes: Potions, Runes, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Herbalogy. Potions and Runes are a family specialty, but Defence Against the Dark Arts and Herbalogy are what he's best at, to the surprise of his family who can't do well at those classes.

History: Silver is from a long line of pureblood wizards on both sides of his roots. His father was from a long line of Potion experts wizards while his mother was from a long line of Runes experts. His parents died when he was too young to remember them, so he was raised by his mother's parents since his infancy. Magic revealed itself to him when he recently turned seven and his grandparents tried to keep him out of wizarding school in fear he might suffer the same fate as his parents. By the time he was twelve, his grandparents gave in and let him try his hand at wizarding school. It told him a few days to get used to being among fellow wizards, but so far in these past five years he's never made any friends except the teachers whose subjects he's best at.
Other: His wand is willow-redwood with a dragon heartstring core, a good fourteen inches long. He's also up for love, if you make friends with him first and take it slow with him. He doesn't like fast girls, since they scare him to pieces. It won't be easy for him to use a broom to fly around, since he's deathy afraid of heights- runs in the family, who live in a cottage in the countryside. However, give him a good pep talk and he'll start flying in no time- but be sure to tell him not to look down while flying on a broom.

Hair: Her hair is a light chocolate brown and softly layered to her shoulders. It is thick but straight, and there is a pesky cowlick in the middle of her part. She hides it by putting her hair in a half-up half-down style.

Eyes: Charlie's eyes are gray-blue, dark and stormy. They are about average size on her head, with short thick eyelashes.

Face: Her face is somewhat angular, with her head shaped like a rounded upsidedown triangle, her nose pointed, and her lips like a small, straight line.

Skin: Her skin is pale like paper, with small brown freckles dotted everywhere and a small but unfortunate acne problem on her chin.

Stature: Charlie is short and kind of curvy, as developed as an adult, not really fat but not skinny like she wishes that she was.

Personality: Charlie has an easygoing attitude. She likes to make magical paintings, the kind that you paint then cast a spell on so they can move around and stuff. She's artistic and creative, a part-time pot user, and she likes to daydream. She's also somewhat adventurous and often finds herself in trouble. She thinks through her actions, but she's just not a logical person.

History: Charlie came from a middle class family in upstate New York. Her parents are divorced, have been since she was around eight, and she has one half brother named Joshua, who is currently three and a half. She is muggleborn. She's always been kind of angsty and hated muggle school. She was glad when she got her email, left without saying good bye, taking her cat Snowbell with her.

Stature (height, weight, etc): Scraping six feet, he has lean legs, but a little chubby chest. He makes up for it with wide shoulders, thick arms and long neck. He guesses he's around 160 lb..

Personality: Jonathan is exceedingly loyal to his friends, schoolwork and extracurricular activities, often pushing himself to the upmost limit to excel in all of them. He is exceedingly generous, often loaning out his belongings to anyone, and his unwavering service to more. He isn't just a hired-hand though, he is deeply rooted into pro-equality ethics, never doing anything that could harm or hurt someone or something. You can most likely find him doing voluntary repair and maintenance work around campus, practicing spells, or helping out a friend.

Despite his willingness to do much else, the one thing he can't commit to is a diet, so despite pushing his body to it's physical maximum each day, the myriads of junk food he devours always sets him back.

His interests in woman are loyal as well, commitment is big to him ( if that wasn't clear). He isn't demanding philanthropists, but someone who is willing to go out of their way to help a worthy cause will catch his eye. He doesn't let it predominate his choices, but looks are part of his criteria as well.

His father attended Hogwarts as a child, yet moved to the states after graduating. His mother grew up in Illinois, and met his father when he visited their. Their love was strong, as at the mere age of twenty-two they were wed with child in a small Chicago apartment. There, Jonathan learned about magic, passed with great grades (in all but Algebra) and found his true passion of Ghoul Studies, when he chanced upon one in his attic. He regularly volunteered around the city, and made many muggle friends by doing so. He's been going to the Academy since he was twelve.

Hair: Rachel's hair is thin and straight, hanging limp to her mid-back. For this reason, she keeps it up in a ponytail or braid at all times. The hue is, in her opinion, probably her best physical attribute, being a mixture of honey blonde and a mousy brown.

Eyes: Her eyes are simply mud brown, her lashes pale like the blonde in her hair. The eyes are big and set high on her face, her brows pale but kind of bushy.

Face: Rachel's face is round, though not particularly fat, and her nose is kind of short, sloping at the end. Her lips kind of pout, the bottom bigger than the top. Rachel has one small scar on her face, at the corner of her left eye, from a minor car accident when she was about eight years old, sitting in the front seat. It doesn't bug her too much, not like her ears, which are slightly bigger and rounder than normal.

Stature: Rachel is tall and lanky, although she is beginning to get her figure. She's pretty skinny, but not much of her is muscle, and she is by no means athletic. She's not out of shape, either, though. Her feet are kind of big.

Personality: Rachel is the kind of person you remember, not because of the big things, but the little things. She can be a little short-sighted, not seeing the way that her actions effect her friends, and her mouth lets out a constant stream of unfiltered crap. And she is nervous and fidgety all the time. But she is funny and adventurous and loyal to those she loves. She is also obsessed with lights of all kinds--- Christmas, candles, fireworks, lamps, chandeliers--- for some reason she just can't get enough. This may partially be her fear of the dark. But it gets in the way when the other kids in the dormitory are trying to sleep. She's what a lot of people would call quirky.

Favorite Classes: Rachel isn't a great student, but she loves charms and animagology (she really wants to turn into a guinea pig!).

History: Rachel's a pureblood, although she did recieve some muggle schooling at a public school in her hometoen near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her mother was an Italian-American witch who became pregnant with her older sister, Natalie, just out of school. She had Rachel two years later and Rachel's little brother, Nicholas, the year after. But she died when Rachel was nine years old, and everyone in the family grew apart. Natalie went off to school a year later, their father spent all his time at the potions lab where he worked, Rachel went off exploring all the time, never forgetting to visit her mom's grave, and Nicholas became absorbed in heaping stacks of books. Now Rachel is going to school, and hopefully there will be more adventure.

Other: She likes pastries, and is up for love, though probably nothin seroius, being twelve.

Hair (colour, texture, length): Her hair is ivory white near the roots of her hair but gradually fades into ebony black at the tips, and resembles the texture of cashmere silk. Also it is waist length, usually tied back though.

Eyes (size, shape, colour): Silva's eyes are a gentle almond shape and are of a natural size, proportional to the rest of her face. They are a silvery grey colour.

Face: Very soft and angelic but with an edge: her scar. Underneath her left eye is a single, healed but still pink looking, scar that reaches all the way down to her chin.

Skin (approximate shade; examples, cocoa, pasty white, pale olive, deep cinnamon): She is simply white, as if she were the child of the moon. Save for her scar Silva's skin is flawless.

Stature (height, weight, etc): Silva is tall and slender with graceful limbs. Unusually tall for her age, she stands just over 6feet in height yet weighs only 9 and half stones.

Personality: Silva is very much a loner who actually enjoys time on her own rather than in huge groups of people, or any group of people for that matter whether it be big or small. If you try to get to close to her, physically or emotionally, then you're going to have a hard time trying, she'll either subtly try to send you away or will quite aggressively push you away. Usually Silva is very individualistic and icy cold, but not always. If she finds a cause worth fighting for she'll fight for it, conditionally that is. She's not one to throw herself into things without knowing every little detail.
She's not imume to the physical attributes of the opposite sex, no matter how much she tries to hide it. Every now and then she will find herself starring at a guy without realising. For anybody looking to be friends, or more, if you actually get through to her you'll find a girl who's actually quite 'nice' or 'sweet'. You just need to be carefull to spook her back into her shell.

History (Family, blood, ect): Very few actually know anything about Silva's history, as very few would actually want to know: Her name literally translates as 'Forest born wolf' in Latin, she was named this because most of her ancestors have at some point or another become werewolves, this has led to some decendants having wolf like traits, like Silva having a wolves' eyes and 'strange hair', and the fact she was born in a forest. The reason for Silva having the scar under her eye is that her parents wanted her to become like them, on her tenth birthday she was infected. She has more scars elsewhere, like across her chest, but the only one you can see is the one on her face. Not long after being infected Silva learnt that she could use magic, it must be said that her parents weren't as impressed as she was when they found out, for the next two years she was forced to move about with her parents all over Europe (these two years were a bloody time for Silva as it was during these two years that she came to grips with being a werewolf), but it was to no avail: the letter still reached them in the end. Not wishing to keep their little girl from her future, Silva's parents finally let her go.
Originally Silva attended Hogwarts as it was close to home but following certain events she decided to move the school in America. In her first month their she had the mic taken out of her all the time, but when other students discovered what she was she was left well alone. Being in her fourth year Silva has earnt a reputation as the girl who shouldn't be messed with, every now and then someone will say something they later regret. It isn't unknown that a great many new students are usually wary of her.

Other: Her wand is ebony, carved for her by her father as final farewell gift. It has a combination of her mothers and fathers wolf hair as it's core. She's up for love, but not knowingly. It she realises that she's falling in love, and you haven't done enough to keep her heart, she'll distance herself as much as possible from them.

Hair (color, texture, length): A mixture of brunette colors with red highlights in bright light. Wears it short in a combed back style. It's very thick but oddly has a layered thin look in the front.

Eyes (size, shape, color): Very deep set in eyes, and very round, The color seems to almost change shade depending on what color is worn if it's a green or yellow they remain a hazel but if he wears grays or blacks they become a cloudy grey color.

Face: A very strong jaw but it almost seems as though his face isn't properly set up. His eyes are deeply set in but his nose has a gentle curve his lips are uneven when he smiles and seems as though most of his face are just angles.

Skin (approximate shade; examples, cocoa, pasty white, pale olive, deep cinnamon): He has a pale complexion but his arms and face are slightly tanned.

Stature (height, weight, etc): He's very tall not quite muscular but not fat.

Personality: He has a very analytic personalty and is very observant. He loves attention and performs in order to attain it he's also a little self absorbed and more than a little egocentric but in a lovable way.

History (Family, blood, etc): Descended from a long running family of magic users, some pure blood, half blood, and mudblood. He is primarily descended from Native Americans shamans and Scottish druids allowing him to excel in shape shifting and even some healing magics. His parents studied abroad when learning magic with their families but decided that Keynleil needed more stability. He comes from Alabama and has a subtle southern silt but isn't much of a country boy, though he is rather gifted with nature related magics.

Other: He doesn't require a wand to focus magic but carries one made of a willow and oak intertwined. It was a gift form his ancestors and the core is of an unknown material. He also excels as an animagus and can take the form of hawk as well as a jaguar. He also has a strange affinity for squirrels and can both become one and speak with squirrels he also has an unusual animosity towards chipmunks that only he understands. He mostly loves to sing and is frequently found wandering and singing with flowers and grass sprouting behind his path.

Okay so I'm not exactly sure if you guys are still doing this since YWS has been ofline for a few days or a week or something, but I totally just wrote out a detailed profile of my character and it's was really really great and then my computer deleted it... so...

Hair (color, texture, length) Chestnut brown with sienna and gold highlights, it is in loose curls framing her chin.

Eyes (size, shape, color): medium sized, always set very stonily, amber with flecks of green.

Face: Very hard, angular, Roman features, thin lips and a dusting of freckles.

Stature (height, weight, etc): About 5'4'', has a dancers body type but a very tough demeanor that makes her seem taller than she really is. She has a very aggressive energy about her that makes her very tense and imposing. Though she's only about 115lbs she overcompensates for it by the way she holds herself.

Personality: She is very confused as to why she is not in Dragons Heart. She is tough, aggressive and cold natured. She has a very macabre sense of humour and she tends to take things too seriously. She is open minded about people at first but is quick to judge them and does not seem to particularly like anyone, or want to like anyone.

She does not like speak to anyone unless directly questioned, or to tell them something she feels is important for them to know. She also enjoys making the occasional biting remark.

She is very clever and knows how to manipulate people and situations to her advantage. She relies on her intellect as much as she does her magic.

The need to always be the best makes her blood thirstily competitive, She learned how to play the game from her father and she sure as hell is not going to lose. She aspires to become a powerful player in international politics and uses the school as a training ground for this.

Other:She, having siren blood in her lineage, can influence people and animals with ease simply by speaking to them. Her animagus form is a small grey cat.

Name: Victoria "Storm" Witford

Hair (color, texture, length): Normally brown, she dyed it auburn so her hair is now a mix of brown and red, her hair is thick with wavy/curly hair, her hair is two inches or so below her shoulders

Eyes (size, shape, color): Storm's eyes are very big with long dark lashes, her eyes arch at the top and go deeper at the bottom, her eyes from far away look brown but up close they are hazel

Face: Almond shape, tan skin, thin lips that are naturally red-ish pink

Stature (height, weight, etc): Storm is 5'4", 120 pounds, she is unathletic but has a toned body from maturing and old muggle P.E., she crosses her arms over her body and the like because she is uncomfortable with her body.

Personality: Storm has her nickname because of her stormy personality, she can be very kind and gently on some days, but on others she can be as bitter and flame-tounged as her Domitory's namesake (and just as sarcastic). Storm ran away from her family to go this school of Magic. She is very touchy about her past. Storm is driven and tries her hardest to get good marks in classes. Storm may lie but she is a great friend and will always be loyal to her friends.

Hair: Kili has long, frizzy, ginger hair, which she usually keeps pulled back in a pony tail.

Face: Kili has a heart-shaped face, which is covered in freckles. She's got a bit of acne, but not much, and no one can see it, anyway, on account of the freckles.

Skin: Very white, like snow.

Stature: Kili is approximately 5' 7", and 115 pounds.

Personality: Kili is a very social person, and likes to be the center of attention. She's very sarcastic as well, however, and can be quite scathing. Generally, though, she's very friendly. She is fiercely protective of friends and family, and will pick fights with anyone who insults them.

History: Kili is a half-blood, but she's known since a very young age. Her father is a muggle, and her mother is a witch. She grew up in a loving environment, as her parents fully accepted their differences and worked around them. She basically lived half in the wizarding world, and half in the muggle world. When she received her letter at age 12, both of her parents were ecstatic.

Other: She has an owl named Nick, and she occasionally drinks.

Name: Kasumi "Kassy" Reid

Hair: Kassy's hair is wavy. She fights with it often and deems it uncontrollable, though in reality its usually always soft and shiny. It's four inches below her shoulders, light golden brown, and not usually tied up.

Eyes: Her eyes are strikingly green and fairly large and doll-like. Her lashes are long but thin and her eyebrows are perfectly plucked.

Face: Her face is heart shaped and fairly thin, though she has self proclaimed "chipmunk cheeks".

Skin: Golden olive, a clear Italian trait from her Father's side.

Stature: She is short for her age, barely scraping five foot. She doesn't exactly mind being short, but she doesn't love it either. She weighs roughly around 110 pounds.

Personality: Kassy is chirpy and hyper. She loves to laugh and she's quite loud, though she doesn't actually realize it. She wishes to be loyal with friends and always there to cheer them on, or cheer them up. However, she has a short fuse and tends to overreact with things she hates, which is a lot. Kassy is caring and helpful, spontaneous and impulsive. She can get violent at times, and she's sarcastic. Occasionally, it might seem as if she's nicer with people she hates, as she keeps on a friendly mask around them, only opening up to people she trusts.

History: Kassy is a pureblood, and very proud of that fact. Her father comes from an important Noble family in Italy. They also held a great influence on the government and politics. Her mother boasts about her connection to London's Hogwards and one of the founders, Salizar Slytherin, in particular. She doesn't know whether her mother is right or not, but she's proud none the less and values her striking green eyes. Kassy was home schooled by her mother who taught her the basics of wizardry as well as mathematics and literature. Because of this, she's been a sheltered person and has never had a friend her age.

Hair (color, texture, length): An ash blonde with highlights a shade lighter. Long, comes just above her elbows, very soft, but a bit thin. It’s layered so her bangs frame her face.

Eyes (size, shape, color) Medium size, almond shaped. Mostly green with bits of gold and brown around the iris.

Face: Oval-shaped, heart shaped lips, small nose that turns up just a bit at the end.

Skin (approximate shade; examples, cocoa, pasty white, pale olive, deep cinnamon): Her skin is fair, a soft ivory, but her cheeks always seem to have a rosy glow. Especially when she’s happy. She’s tried to tan her skin darker, but it always remains the same.

Stature (height, weight, etc): Average height (Though she feels short.) Thin, but not bony.

Personality: Kind and loving to everyone around her. She feels the need to protect the ones she loves above all else. She rarely becomes angry or even mad. But when she does people do not forget it.

History (Family, blood, etc): At First she is believed to be a mud-blood. Adopted at a very young age by muggles, Was often told of magic from her adoptive parents, but never really believed she could be a witch. Her parents, being muggles knew very little and was quite misinformed. She isn’t sure of who her parents are, but soon finds out that they were once powerful wizards themselves.

Other: Because she cares so much about people, she is also a bit naïve. And listens blindly and trustfully to those around her. It often gets her into trouble.
