Rough Drawing

For just a rough drawing, I would say this is very impressive. I like her dress, I'm kind of jealous of it. And her hair is ADORABLE. There are a few things I should point out, though:

Her Eyes
Look a little clouded, like she's blind or something, especially since the one on the right (her left) is so much darker and smaller.

Her Hands (and the arm on the right, her left, in general)
Seem very much out of proportion. Small even for an anime, and oddly shaped. The seem the same size as each other, but other than that they kind of bug me.

Her...Fan?
If indeed that's what it is. I don't think fans should flop like that.

If you are getting tired of reading my critiques, feel free to stop reading at any time, since I'm about to get a little more...critique-y.

When I said I was jealous of her dress, that certainly didn't mean that it was without flaw. I'll start with the collar and work my way to the bottom of the pic.

Collar
It's crooked...and not in a human-mistake, haven't-looked-in-a-mirror-in-ten-minutes kind of way, but the strips of fabric running down her front directly around and beneath the collar are severely lopsided in a Ross dress kind of way. The kind of sewing mistake that is markdown worthy. Also, I think I am seeing a scarf or something right there in the front, but I can't tell, so decide if that's supposed to be there or not and erase/define accordingly.

Sleeves
The decorations, although adding a nice touch of embroidery, should look symmetrical to each other.
The left (her right) sleeve in particular seems off. It looks like it's been pulled or twisted, but the positioning of the arm tells otherwise. All that creasing is really unnecessary.

Skirt
It looks as though you've acknowledged this issue already to some extent, but lets take it a little further. The left (her right) side of the skirt poofs out a lot more than the other side, making her look like either a) she's walking to the left (her right), in which case her upper body positioning doesn't seem right, b) leaning against a wall on the flattened side, but the flaring of the sleeve on the same side says otherwise, or c) She's being blown in the wind, in which case her sleeves, hair, and bow should be flying in the same direction.

All in all, you have a fantastic piece there, I love it. You have lots of talent. Keep drawing!

This is a very good sketch, and it's very well shaded, bringing out the points and detailing the most part. The only flaw I see is the eyes. To me, they kind of have a blank stare. I think this sketch, overall, is pretty well thought out and gives me a pleasnt image. You are very talented, and I say for you to keep on scetching, because you are masterful.

You do sketches in the same way that I do sketches: whether or not the technique is good, I just find something natural and beautiful about the jagged lines in a sketch, especially when that's all it is at the moment. Now, there comes a place after the sketch, which I imagine you'll take this piece to next, when you begin focusing on elaboration of the image. I think that, for this girl, the best way to do so would be to make her dress a bit more "layered" in design. As of now, you have a collared undergarment, a vesting, and the gown itself. I feel like one final layer could really make the costume pop, and I'm thinking it's along the lines of a "corset" beneath her bosom and above her hips, something to bring in her shape and add more contrast to the outfit.

Another area of improvement would certainly be her right hand, or for us, the one on the left. In perspective, it's very minuscule, especially compared with her sleeve's flare and the general bulk of what can be presumed to be her arm. The other hand, however, is quite lovely from what you've shown: just the delicate fingers. They seem to almost give a sort of personality to the drawing.

I think that you're aware of the flaw of the right hand due to the shades in the area, a sort of signal that you were displeased at one point. So I hope I'm not kicking a dead horse by saying that, hah.

Other than those things, I want to give you praise for the hair, and even the shoulders. Perhaps the left shoulder (her left, our right) could be squared off just a bit more, but I know how shoulders are.

A bit of proportioning work with her eyes will go a long way, and I like the way the lips give a bit of a hint as to what she's thinking, whatever she's peering at.

Hi Vettan!

It's Cookie, again! This was better than the last one I saw, I can tell. I absolutely loved this one. I don't think it was too bad, but obviously, each piece of drawing can never be perfect. xP There are some things I need to tell you before you start drawing. So, understand carefully so that next time, you'll be able to draw more imaginatively.

Here goes:

1) Before you take your pencils or paper, IMAGINE what you're going to draw. Don't just start off like "BOOM!". You've got to imagine what you're going to draw in order for that picture to be correct to you.

2) After all the imagination you've done in your head, take your stationary and start drawing from where you started imagining.

3) Stop after you outline the picture. Now start thinking on how you're going to sketch the picture.

4) Start sketching and shading. If you want to give light shadings- use sharpened pencil. If you want to darken and give the picture a classy look- use a blunt pencil. Not too blunt, a little sharpened.

5) It'll come out great! ^.^ Tell me if this advice was helpful.

Imagination is the best thing to Art. Without that, you can never succeed in drawing a good picture. Not that, you've not drawn well, you have. But if that imagination develops a bit more, you can draw an amazing picture.

Where you can improve in this picture is the eyes, fan and the sleeves.
