Controversy of the Dying Dawn

What if the sun chose not to rise?
Then I would know that my life is just lies;
That despite my waking the morrow comes not;
There is only an empty endless lot.

I am not one of them.
I am the son of them.
I am not quite human in thought.
For, my thoughts are at times for humans unlikely.

This sorrowful lot to which I belong,
Is nothing more than a life gone wrong.
It’s nothing more than the end of a narrow street.
Where lay river and sky, a waterfall they meet.

This life is brittle and frail,
Especially when you gaze at the bleak and pale.
But why do we persist to live these lies?
If it is the one thing that we most despise?

What is the stars refused to shine?
Then in Hell I would have to dine.
I would forever know the rot.
I would be without home or cot.

But what difference would it make?
For my soul has already seen the demon’s wake.
I have been dragged and pulled into dreams,
Of the fires below, ripping at my seams.

The Empathetic Void of the Contemplative Existence

Who is the one with the scar in his heart?
Who is the fire that made it all start?
For life it seems, comes and goes.
This is something everybody knows.
The morrow speaks of barren flesh.
It speaks of armor and shining mesh.

Who is the man who lives many lives?
All woven into one, they arise.
But what happens when he can bear no more?
When his scars reopen to bleed evermore?
This man has traversed through time.
But his soul remains in this life of crime.

He feels contempt for the oppressors of life.
He continues to love though, through a veil of strife.
This man is one who bleeds from his thoughts.
They overwhelm him so until he unties these knots.
These ethereal binds constrict his world.
A universal void is left to be unfurled.

Mournful Emptiness

Something that fills up
A wide gap in lonely hearts
Mournful emptiness

A Promise for My Angel

There is no life without you dear.
You are the only love I fear,
That if you fall during my wake,
Then to Hell I go for your angelic sake.

My Fine Alibi

Who are you dear?
My fine alibi.
Are you the one,
Who fell from the sky?

Are you my twin,
From afar?
But near in heart,
Sharing one star?

We are alike but different as well.
In one thought we may currently dwell.
You are clever young maiden, I see.
It’s almost as if this was meant to be!

So come here young maiden!
I covet your charm!
Who are you lovely?
I would never do you any harm.

For you and I have been split in two!
It’s as if our souls were once one.
What I say is quite true.
We share so much, the same light, the same sun.

My Love

My fire, my light,
You are the flame that burns through the night.
Through my heart you cut, like a swift knife
You have removed me of this realm, of this tearful life.
Without you I would be naught,
I would be wound, a snapping string so taught.

My dreams, my soul,
You are love that comes without toll.
Your love flows through me like a fish through the sea
It gives me life and completes me.
Without you I would be nigh.
I would be left, alone and to die.

My life, my love,
Your heavenly presence was sent from above.
All of this time I’ve been wondering who
It would be when it was always you.
With you I have found my place
In your miraculous heart and your beautiful face.
"At this very instant, I augment the spacetime that permeates and weaves our beings."

Oh my gosh Pateessa! I loved those! They were deep and emotional and just incredible to read. I know I've already read most of them, but still... they're awesome! Continue writing these. They really seem to suit you. XD One thing though: I would love to know who that last one's about. Anyway, keep writing and may the Force be with you, Pateessa! <3

I love your poems, Matt! They're really amazing. They reflect your thoughts a lot, and the only thing I might suggest is to take is easy on the AABB rhyming. Sometimes it can make the poem sound forced, or that the words are there more for rhyme and less for meaning. Also, if you're going to write about common things, just remember to put your own spin on them - find unique words that can really spice up the language and imagery.

I think these are my favorite yet! I liked, "My Fine Alibi," purely for the title and the meaning those words can take on. Wonderful job, there.

Keep writing!

Seraph!

Quite frankly, I don't know where to begin this review! It's like I'm being bombarded with such great poetic precision. And I'm loving it even more. So, as for the 6 'episodes' that you've written, they all have their own character and personality and are about separate things and I like how you've further distinguished them by colour-coding. It gives a great aesthetic feel to it.

If I had to point out all the qualities of each individual piece that you've written, This review would be more like an essay, which I think it has already become, lol. Anyway, I'll collectively say that they all have great language, structure, rhyme and give out a certain sense of 'brutal ideology', for lack of a better expression.

'Controversy of the Dying Dawn', 'My Fine Alibi' and 'My Love' were my favourite parts among the array of poems. 'Mournful Emptiness' and 'A promise for My Angel' are pure gold. I might be horribly wrong in calling it Haiku since I'm not well-versed in the many poetic forms yet. However, these two poems definitely caught my eye because they had the same strong effect as the rest of the pieces but were only a fraction of the size.

I'm not much of a critique but despite my analyzing of the pieces, I was hard pressed to find not a single one. 'The Angelic Catalogues of Celestial Despair' is a great and apt title for the various 'Episodes' taken place.

I do believe you have done a great job writing this and that you are a talent not to be reckoned with. I'm a fan now. And I'm sure that after reading this, you'll gain a whole crowd. Keep writing this way and keep the ink flowing. You are awesome, and I mean it!
