Spoiler
I struggle with this sometimes...But I know that God loves me just as much as anyone else and that always gives me hope.

I live in someone's shadow and I know I always will.
I'm not the best, not the sweetest nor the prettiest
I was not born to stand out or to be loved most.

See, that girl is a better friend than me
And the words of that guy bring more hope.
And of course I wish I could be like them.

The biggest part of my life I've been trying to change into that,
But you can't create something beautiful if you don't have the right ingredients.
And when I realized that, depression was what followed.

I've wasted so much time on trying to escape from under these redundant shadows,
But all it brought was the burning agony and self-hate.
My heart decided to give up and let the pressure break it.

And soon there wasn't much left of me.
An empty shell, a shadow of the one who had walked in shadows.
But then my heart decided to forget it ever got painfully stabbed,

It saw other broken souls crawling around in the dark.
A light in my eyes appeared and it tried to get us back up,
It shone away the intimidating shadows and we got our own spot.

I don't have a shadow of my own and I doubt I will ever get one,
And sometimes I still hate what I am: nothing special,
But I know that when I turn on the light, people see me.

Not as a failure stuck in the dark,
But as a person with renewed hope and a well meaning heart.

You are all special and God loves you. Don't let someone's shadow intimidate you but just turn on the light..they'll disappear.

I liked this! Maybe a bit to long so it drags on. But good. Describing words were OKAYISH!
7/10 :D Hope this helped. WELL DONE!

I took one look t the poem and decided it was too daunting to read, maybe split it up into stanzas that would be so much easier on the eyes, and it wouldn't scare me away O.o

Qara!

Sometimes we all feel that we are much less than what we truly are and start beating ourselves up about it. It's not about the number of times you fall down, but it's about how you can pick yourself up and continue walking. It's very easy to undermine one's own potential. But what matters is that we should continue believing and keeping the faith, not just in God but in ourselves as well. So don't you forget it, young lady! XD

A neat poem with a great message for encouragement! I know how close you are to God, so I'm sure you'll do perfectly fine!

Murtuza,
:) XD
It's not about the weight of what's spoken.
It's about being heard.

Very interesting read here. I like the idea and it was well-executed. And I agree with what the person a few posts before me said, the stanzas are much easier on the eyes. I learned that one the hard way. Stanzas help the flow as well, so this works very well.

Great choice of words and the flow was very good. I don't think I would change anything at the moment.

A very good write! Well done!

Keep writing!
