After disappearing from the site for awhile (3 years, actually) I've managed to dig up my old account. I never really did much on it, but oh god was the stuff I did post awful. I'm frankly embarrassed to even recognize some of these things as mine xD
I'd like to think I'm a much better writer now, thanks to a myriad of play-by-post roleplays I've been participating in since my departure from YWS, and now that I've skimmed over my 'literary works' (if you could call them that) from past years, and even some of my responses to other peoples' posts, I've learned that I have, in fact, gotten much better at everything to do with writing since those 3 long years ago.
Now, my question for all of you is, have any of you ever read over some of your old writing and wondered "how on Earth did I think this was acceptable?"

I have a fictionpress account that I keep hidden that has some truly awful writing in from when I was younger. Whenever I glance over it I always feel awfully embarassed.

And in my "Miscellaneous" folder, I keep a document titled ">:)" that has nothing else than the link to this very fictionpress account...

I know that feeling.

I recently discovered a novel I wrote when I was eight or something. It was so bad I was struck dumb throughout everything I read of it, and lobbed it in the trash when I was five chapters through.

I'm so glad I'm better at writing now. ><'

Hah! Just earlier today I discovered an old journal of mine hidden away in some junk, and it contained one of the single worst stories I think I've ever written. I think I'll keep it around to reference what not to do from it ;)

I keep my old writing around. If only because it contains old ideas that I haven't gotten around to improving yet.

However, nobody, and I mean nobody, is allowed to see these old stories. :P
A writer is a world trapped in a person— Victor Hugo

Ink is blood. Paper is bandages. The wounded press books to their heart to know they're not alone.

Why should Caesar just get to stomp around like a giant while the rest of us try not to get smushed under his big feet? Brutus is just as cute as Caesar, right? Brutus is just as smart as Caesar, people totally like Brutus just as much as they like Caesar, and when did it become okay for one person to be the boss of everybody because that's not what Rome is about! We should totally just stab Caesar!
