Don't think that you know me,
because you don't.
Don't think I'll let you in,
because I won't.
Don't think you'll ever see me cry,
because that I'll never do.
Don't think you'll ever help me,
because I won't let you.

This jumble of emotions in me
has its time and place.
My tears are well aware of when
they can't fall down my face.
My eyes are well aware of when
the cannot look so red.
My head is well aware of when
it must get out of bed.

Don't think that you know me,
because I seem carefree.
Don't think I'll let you in,
why won't you let me be?
Don't think you'll ever see me cry,
my face I'll only hide.
Don't think you'll ever help me,
I have such stubborn pride.

I walk among you in these halls
in silent steps of pain.
I'd call to you a plea of help,
but what have I to gain?
I'd ask of you a hand to hold,
but it wouldn't do me good.
You'd tell me to get over it,
as I know I should.

Don't think that you know me,
because I have a shell.
Don't think that I'll let you in,
because I'll never tell.
Don't think you'll ever see me cry,
because I won't put on a show.
Don't think you'll ever help me,
because I've already let go.

Spoiler
Cheery, right? I wrote this after reading a book about suicide. I've been meaning to post it for a while. What do you think? The rhyming scheme changes slightly every other stanza, but you can probably figure that out for yourself. :)

I can't believe I'm the first to reply, this poem is amazing. Really, you have a talent. It is very sad, but I guess that's the best part about it. You can just feel the raw emotion flowing out of the piece. Bravo. After reading the spoiler about how you wrote it after reading a book about suicide made a lot of sense. I'm glad that you write how you feel after a book, it's the perfect time to do so in my opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed your poem and I cannot wait until you put out more. Thank you for putting this up so that others may enjoy it as well. Keep on writing.(:

Haha, I love depressing poems. They have such strong emotion, especially when well written like this one. i admire how the every other line rhymes yet you still manage to make the over all point of the poem crystal clear. The flow is good too, and there's honestly not much I can say to make this poem any better. The title is also very good before it gives extra impact and emphasis on the mood and point of the poem. All in all, very good job and keep writing.
