Photgraphy: Roses, pigeons and Peacocks

Hi everyone!
I'm sorry for not uploading any photos, YWS was (and as I uploaded it too) driving me crazy and not allowing me to - I had lots of points.

Anyway, I experimented with the photos here. What's your favourite one and why? Any possible improvements? Enjoy!

quite an interesting medley of photos

Hi there! Okay:

First picture - I like that there are two pigeons, and I like that the second is closer to the foreground than the first. However, I wish they were in better focus. I like the idea behind this, though.

Second picture - Love it. I wish you'd been able to resize it so I could see it all at once (well, I wish that about all of them), but I can say I love it - how out of focus the background is, but then, boom! Roses.

Third picture - This reminds me of the fur of a golden retriever. Don't know if that's really what it is, but you said guess...I'm not sure it's the kind of photo I would just hang up on a wall, but I would use it as wallpaper (like, real wallpaper, except that really I'd rather just paint because wallpaper is a pain in the arse) or as a background to another picture, or a pattern for something.

Fourth picture - Aside from wishing that the male's fan was spread out (which obviously you couldn't control), I wish that his head and neck were in focus. That's the most stunning, beautiful part of him in this picture, but the focus is on the body.

Hey there, Ahmad.

Well, these images you have here are a bit large. Maybe you could take a look at this link here to see about resizing things in the future to make things easier on your viewers. You'd definitely benefit from some resizing when posting images, I think. When they're rather large like this, it's a bit difficult to take in the photo as a whole when you're looking at everything in such close detail. Plus, it's a bit straining on the eye, you see. ;]

For now, I've gone ahead and resized them for you just so that I could perhaps review them a little easier. Also to show you how much better they look when you zoom out.



Now, as for this first photo here, the angle is really very interesting. Though I can't say I haven't seen it before, I like how you've gone level with the birds and put in the additional blur as if spying from behind blades of grass at your subjects here. It gives a sense of curiosity wafting around in the shot, as well as a hint of obliviousness as far as the birds go. It seems they don't even catch eye of the camera. I quite like that.



I'm not sure exactly how I feel about this one. Maybe I'm just a little bit jaded by the subject of photography around flowers. I feel like I've seen it all too many times before already, and this shot doesn't seem to really have any interesting spark to it. There's some focus and some out of focus dynamic which gives it some sturdiness as far as the shot goes, but I don't see anything really too special about this when I look at it. The petals on the flower look just stunning, but we all know flowers are beautiful on their own. I suppose maybe it's the atmospheric quality of the surrounding shot that gives images like this their sparking beauty. Chew on that a little bit. Give me an interesting flower shot next time around.



I'm not sure what to say about this shot here. There really isn't a whole lot going on. It just seems to be some sort of abstract image. It almost looks like hair. Or an animal's fur? Or maybe I'm just completely off in guessing what the heck it is. It's cool, but it looks very. . . how do I say it, commercial. Especially with the translucent signature going on with the copyright sign. You seem to have that on all your photos. I can understand why. I mean, who wants their photography plagiarized? In any sense, maybe you could have gone about the idea in a slightly more subtle way?

But anyway, interesting shot; not a whole lot to say about it, and I'm not sure I could quite call it photography, for when I think of photography I think of interesting, original, visually dynamic pieces. This was hardly that.



H'okay, last one! So, the colors here are really very fascinating. the way you have the male bird stepping up to the shot and the female is just hanging back in the background is quite amusing, as well as interesting to look at. It's a stunning bird this one. I want to say peacock. xD YEs, I believe it's a peacock. Anyhow though, it is a little blurry. Though, I can't really blame you on it being tough to catch a shot of a moving animal. They don't always hold still for the camera. Which is why you have to be observant and quick to take the right shot. This is a nice shot, but some part of me feels like you could have gotten a much better one.

Anyway though, these are some cool pics. Keep up the photography definitely. Just try and get a bit more creative and visually dynamic with your shots. Snap something virtually --in every sense-- appealing for the eye to see. Be original! I know you can do it. Practice makes us better at everything. ;]

First of all, I really liked all of your photos and think you should definitely carry on taking more. I'll tell you what I think of each photo in turn.

I like the interesting angle and subject in the first one, and I think that it's overall quite an effective picture. However, maybe the angle is a little too far tilted; the grass in front of the main subject (the pigeons) is quite out of focus and very distracting. A little of it adds quite a nice detail to the picture, but in the future I'd try to make sure that it's not distracting too much from the thing you're actually trying to take a picture of.

Personally I like the second picture; the stunning colours and tones are really nice to look at. I like that it's clearly in focus, but perhaps you could try experimenting with some different angles for flowers?

I'm not sure what the third one is, but it's quite interesting. My guess is that it's fur, or hair of some sort. I like the colour of it, and the fact that it's quite mysterious as we have no idea what it is, but at the same time the photo doesn't really have a subject and so won't hold anybody's interest for too long.

The last one is quite interesting and I love the way that you've managed to capture the peacocks. However, one thing that I would point out is that I think you've cropped a little too much of each peacock out of the photo. Try taking some pictures from a different angle which might fit more of them in.

Another thing I'd point out is that I think the watermark is a little distracting, how about putting it somewhere more discreet, for instance one of the corner's, instead?

Other than that, I like your photography and the way you've managed to capture everything in an almost dreamy state. The birds you've photographed seem to be going about their usual business, and it all adds a mysterious angle to the photographs. Keep taking photos, but keep all of our tips in mind too so that you can take even better ones.

Wow. I absolutley love them.
First off-I love the angle in which you took the first picture. I think its brilliant how it seems as if you are looking at the birds from behind blades of grass. I do have to say that those birds must have been extremley calm to allow you to get even that close. Most birds would just fly away immediatley. It's like they don't even know the camera is there. I love this picture!!
Second-I like it, I just don't love it. The flower on it's own is beautiful. But I have seen this kind of phot before, regarding flowers. Next time, think outside teh box and take the picture from a totally unexpected angle (that is, if you do anymore flower photography). Wow me.
Third-I can't really give you a creative guess....the first thing I thought of was horse hair. I'm not sure if it's right or not, but it's a guess Anyways, I think it's a really interesting photo. Different. Unusual.
Fourth-I don't like peacocks. At all.I think probably because when I was little a peacock chased me around for a good hour. It's a nice picture but I think I'm a little jaded on the whole peacock subject.
Overall, I think you're a really good photographer. I really like your pictures

I like all the photos! I don't know much about photography, so I can't say much.
The first and fourth picture were amazing, I don't know how you took them without the birds flying away.
The second one was okay. I guess that's cause I've dozens of pictures of flowers around my house so it really didn't catch my eye.
The third one- My guess! It looks like bending blades of long grass in the light of the setting sun. Sounds a bit dramatic but that was my first impression.
Stick to photography.
