Hey I'm new here and I am just trying to get the hang of things. I am a writer and a poet so hopefully being on here will give me inspiration and help me to become a better writer

Hello! I've been here for nearly two weeks now (dang, I feel like such a newbie), and I'll tell you that this most definitely helps with your writing, even if you don't think it does. Criticism stays in that little unconscious part of your mind that reminds you whenever you need to fix something. Trust me. (I've found myself writing poetry in the last week and telling myself that I need to strengthen this or change this word or edit that.)

But in any case, hello, welcome, greetings! Salutations! Chin up! Please, don't feel out of place - you can PM me if you have any questions, and I'll try my darnedest to answer them.

Allow me to be one of the first few to say welcome to YWS! (Psssst, you have the 'W' upside down on your title.) I hope you've been looking around and getting a feel for what the site really is all about. If you have, I'm sure you can conclude that it is awesome. There are tons of writers hanging about every day posting works, reviewing others work, etc. etc. It's important to remember to review though! Think of it as for every post you make, you review three others. That way there's some balance to the writing madness. xD

If you find you ever hit a snag, are unsure about something, or generally have any questions at all, you can feel free to ask me. I'd be glad to help you out. Although, I'm pretty confident you'll have little trouble getting around on your own. If not, there's also the Buddy System available. You can take on a mentor and get a hold of the ropes and such. Feel free to look into it. But if for the most part you think you have it all, still feel free to come to me with any questions you may have. Or if you're looking to have any new works reviewed, I'm great with review requests! Simply post a comment on my wall or send a PM(private message) my way and I'll be quick to get back to you. No hesitation required. xD

Well, I s'pose that's about it for my welcoming! Remember good grammar no chat speak, brush twice daily, etc., and I think you'll be good. ;] Look forward to seeing you around the site, and have fun wandering about and such!

Hello Music!

Welcome to YWS! ...Yes, it's a W not an M. Otherwise we'd be, like, The Young Musicians Society or something. Which would be totally cool, except the only thing I can play is the harmonica and that not very well at all, so I would have no place here at all.

The site can seem pretty big and sprawling at first, but you get used to it, and if you have any questions, you can grab anyone in green (like moi ^_^) and they'll be more than happy to help you. The Buddy System that Smylin linked to is very helpful. You just need to make a post on there requesting advice and you'll be swamped by scary levels of enthusiasm.
