So, I really have to say that these are all wonderful. But because just saying that would make me a terrible reviewer, I shall go into a little more details.

First Picture - There’s a lot of great in this. The soft shading is a huge bonus because it makes her soft expression really show strongly. One thing, however, is getting too soft, especially near her mouth. I had to really squint and focus to be able to see her mouth at all. And on a side note, her mouth seems just a smidgen too big for her face. But that may have been a reference photo issue on the side.

Second Picture - There’s really only one little thing I want to poke with a stick in this picture and this is the neck of the face on the right. Much like before, it’s just very soft and it’s really hard to see any line at all in there. Still, the moment that you’ve re-drawn here is really powerful and done very well. I especially love the hair and the way you presented it with the girl on the left.

Third Picture - It’s an eye. I can’t say much about it (perhaps because everyone always wants to draw random eyes. What about belly buttons, you know?). But it’s done very well and the sense of terror that reads out of the eye is wonderful.

Fourth Picture - Awww, textures. I’m not sarcastic when I say that I love textures. And these are all very well done as well, especially the brick texture and the peeling paint texture as well. Great job with all three of these.


Well there it is, proof that I give bad reviews on great pieces. *head/desk*

Hey, shiney1 here I love to draw and shade, so I'll review this.

I admire how well you can draw and shade people. I myself do not fancy realism that much, more like fantasy for me. You did well with these pictures.
Although, I feel that you could really benefit from using a blender, because these drawing look a bit too etchy. If you blend and make the lines smoother, I am positive that they will look much better.

Picture 1

I love the hair and the expression, and how the shading shows shadow, making it look more three-dimensional. The eyes are a bit off alighnment-wise, and the dark outlining on the right side of the face takes away some of the natural elements.

Picture 2

Like I said, the shading is very nice and accurate. Alos, a blender would really come in handy for the boy's hair, which looks way too etchy. (His sleeves could use a bit of touching up as well.)

Picture 3

I love the well-defined pupil and the contrast it has to the skin. Still, this picture needs a lot of cleaning, as it looks messy. The wrinkles arounf the eye could be more defined, and the shine in the eyes whould be a bit more rounded and prominent. The eye looks kind of flat, and the eyelids should stand out a bit more to give the piece a more three-dimensional effect.

Okay so my opinion probably doesn't count for anything really because I am a terrible artist but I think you're really good! Your drawing are really nice

Oh my God ! It was really awesome work. First two pictures I loved it dude.. That girl is really cute. You have got a good talent. Your work has life. So keep doing it.. Need to learn a lot from you..

Hey there! Ah, you have some serious talent...however, as Lily said, just saying that doesn't really do any good as a review.


- First drawing -

Eyes: I know how difficult it can be to get the eyes right, but you've done quite a good job of it. However, as Shiney said, they're a little off on the alignment. Also, the iris on the right (her left) is skinnier than the other; notice how it looks almost oval-shaped? The pupil is also a little high, not quite in the middle of the iris.
I really like shading method you used; it's scratchy, but still rather subtle. Overall, they're very well done. I love the details.

Nose: This is quite good, but there was something I noticed: There's two lines that seem to run down the bridge of the nose. The outer line looks like it's supposed to be shading, but there's little or no color inside of it (I hope that made sense?). Also, the tip of the nose looks oddly bulbous, though I understand if that's just the way the girl's nose is designed.

Hair: Also very nice. However, the shading is iffy in some places, particularly on the right. It's very coarse-looking. Also, the hair around her hand looks unnaturally dark.

Shape of face: Having not seen the reference photo, I can't critique this with much accuracy; her left cheek seems a little too round and plump, but since everyone's face is different, it could just be natural. Other than that, very well done.

Hand: You have an excellent grasp of the structure! Hands are another one of those challenging aspects of anatomy. My only nitpick is with her fingers; the tip of her fingers seem to disappear, and it sorta looks like she only has two fingers and a thumb. The pinkie and ring fingers should at least be suggested. The shading on the wrist and knuckles are fantastic, though.

Overall shading: Well, I agree with both Lily and Shiney; there are some places where you go extremely light and soft (around the mouth and fingers, mostly), and other places where it could definitely use some blending (mainly on the neck and hair). The majority of the facial-shading is great, though!

It's a sweet picture, and I think you conveyed a personality quite well.



- Second drawing -

I'm very much in awe of this...the shading, proportions, and detail are all fantastic. The above posters have pretty well covered the critiques, but my only nitpick is that it gets very indistinct where their lips are almost touching.
Other than that, it's an excellent picture.



- Third drawing -

This could definitely use some blending. I know that charcoal can be uncooperative, but it seems to smear quite well. First, the shadow at the inner corner of the eye...in all honesty, it looks like this person has an odd patch of hair growing beside his/her eye.
There seem to be a bunch of small lines on the eyelid; I'd suggest looking closely at a person's eyelid and seeing how light and shadow affect it. It's generally very smooth.
Also, the eyelashes are somewhat short and randomly placed. Some of them appear to be going in different directions.
I like the kaleidoscopic pattern in the iris; it's very captivating. However, the thick dark ring around it makes it look rather flat. Consider gradually lightening it as it nears the pupil (as you did in the first picture).
OVerall, it could use some work, but you definitely have the right idea.



- Fourth drawing -

These are excellent! It can be very handy to know how to create such effects.
