Hey there.

I'm not quite sure what to think of this...it's almost disturbing to look at, simply because I'm not sure what it is (which is what I've always loved about abstract art).

At first, it looks like a child's doodle, but then you see the strong, confident lines, and the great--if subtle--shading. The rocks look great.

However, the picture seems somewhat incomplete; the rising lines in the background look like they should be doing something. Also, is the figure wearing a hat, or is that just a part of its head? If it's a hat, some more shading would really help there.

I really like the expression on the creature's face; it looks confused, lost, and forlorn, stranded in some sort of strange land with only a snail for company. It adds some definite emotion and depth to the picture. Perhaps a metaphor for life in general.

You have some serious artistic talent. Keep up the good work.
I aim to misbehave.

Initial thought: "Aww, how cute", then the darkness hit me and I was a little iffy about the overall picture. It looks like it's almost like part of a dream. And, honestly, the little character in the picture looks like a cartoon character--was this supposed to be an original work of art?
Abstract or dark, there's always room to improve, just depends on the look you want and are going for. Keep at it.

Hey there, Boo!

So, officially, having listened to enough of my new friends who are art majors, I may actually be able to give a slightly more decent review. But that’s only because Jake is sitting right next to me right now voicing his opinion. (he likes by the way)

Anyways, you have a nice image as an overall. You’re shading in the rocks is definitely my favorite part as an overall. You kept the lines very clean and you definitely did a good job making sure not to overdo it with too many lines. Keeping it clean makes it much easier to look at.

The two things that really do bother me about this is A) how rushed and unfocused the circular background feels and B) the top right hand corner from the break in the clouds to the figures head. What’s going on atop his head is really the most baffling to me. No seriously, what’s going on up there.

Otherwise, I love the little details in here, especially those within the snail and, as I said before, in the rocks. Plus the shading in his eyes is nice and very smooth.

Overall, I like this. But make sure you know where you’re going with this piece. I can’t actually really see where this is going at all actually. So yeah, know what’s going on than convey that message.

Any questions, just ask.
