You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?
Hello. I'm TheMaskedMan and I'm here to read and write. It's like school, except fun. Wait... NO FORGET I SAID THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SCHOOL. YOU HEAR ME?? NOTHING!!!!
You'll have to forgive me, I tend to have random outbursts of rage like that... hehehehe... especially when people think they can just SELL my STUFF and not give me any of the MONEY...
Anyway, a little about me, yes?
I like to write short stories, novels and fiction more than poems or other literature. This is because I enjoy inventing worlds, people, creatures and situations that only exist in my mind, and sharing them with other people in this way is easier for me than drawing or painting. I have an over-active imagination, so it’s fun sometimes to just sit and make things up, then put it down on paper, even if I never use it in an actual story.
My writing depends on what I am feeling. If the reason I am writing is to release some pent-up emotions, then yes, my writing reflects me greatly. All my writing has a piece of me in it, but some pieces of writing have more of me put into it. If I feel strongly about the subject, I make it know in my writing, and it reflects me a lot. If I am indifferent to the subject of my writing, I only state my thoughts. It still contains a part of me; just not as much as something I really care about.
My writing would appeal to people with a big imagination, who can suspend their disbelief for a while. As I said before, I love to invent big things. People who have an imagination will find themselves inside the world that I have created. It’s almost like they would be inside my mind, seeing what I see. That is, if I can successfully translate my inventions into writing.
Most of my short stories are about some underdog who somehow gains power over people, which reflects me because I’m kind of the underdog in most things that I do. I find that other events that have happened in my life happen to my main character more or less. So I guess you could say that my main character is me, depending on what I’m writing.
I prefer writing fiction. I find non-fiction fascinating to read, but writing it is annoying because you have to stay in between the lines of details and facts, which is something I do not like doing. The reason I don’t like poetry very much is that I don’t really understand it. If I was taught the mechanics and whatnot of poetry, I think I would enjoy it more.
I want to be able to translate my thoughts into words more effectively, expand my vocabulary, and improve my grammar. I’m kind of aspiring to be like fantasy writers such as J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. Their stories seem to have a lot of detail, but don’t waste pages on information. However, they create the world so well you could almost be there with the main characters. I want to be able to do that.
PHEW. Information overload. I know most of you will go "TOO LONG DID NOT READ", but to those who made it this far, here is a cookie. http://i998.photobucket.com/albums/af108/LVDB09/the-cookie-monster.jpg
Thanks! I hope I can be a proficient and helpful member of this society! at least for the next three days...

P.S. I was wondering... could you help me? I seem to have... lost... something. It's very precious to me. I wouldn't be asking, but I sent a small fairy boy to find it a while ago, and he hasn't returned. No? Are you sure? Okay...

Hey, TheMaskedMan, what a wonderful way to introduce yourself. Seems like we enjoy doing a lot of the same things. If you do have any need of reviews or that kind of things, please feel free to PM me. Thanks for the cookie, it was rather hard to eat. I thought there were mold on it, and I did not quite like it at first. Have a great time at YWS!
