Hello all. My name is Alyssa. :]
I definitely want to become a famous novelist someday. My favorite author is Oscar Wilde. I also very much enjoy anime and video games. I am part of the drumline in my high school's marching band (hopefully drum captain next year >u<).
And that's about all I can think of to introduce myself right now. Pretty uninteresting. xD

However, I very much look forward to meeting you all and becoming a part of this community! Help me out a bit?
I've already posted a little something - the first chapter of a story I started working on awhile back. I never went anywhere with it...but I like the writing and I think I could have a bit of fun if I continued with it. So I went and edited it enough to be postable, and hopefully I can get some inspiration from your reviews. Thank you bunches to whoever does read it. :D

This site is amazing if you stick to it. When I joined, I thought I was decent at writing but then bam, I have been getting so much better. Everyone on here is so helpful and willing to talk. Hope you don't mind your work being critiqued though. We tend to have a little bite in our reviews because we want to help you get better.

You seem to understand the basic concept of the site and if you have any questions feel free to PM any of us if you don't understand things. You obviously found how to post things (I had no clue when I joined), and I'm sure you will catch on everything else really quickly too.

I recommend going in chat to meet the people or join clubs. Both ways are effective ways to meet the people around the site.

Again, I welcome you and hope to see you around YWS in the future!

Welcome! I'm a newbie too and I seriously think this site's great! I mean, the people are so kind and good and great in writing.

OM I've been dying to learn to play drums! I play some instruments but I really want Drums on the toplist.

Oscar Wilde is a good choice of favourite author, one of the best classics out there. I'm more into the fantasy or sci fi genres myself, authors like George R.R.Martin or Orson Scott Card.

I just thought I'd tell you a little bit about a system we have called the 'Buddy System', where new members choose an older member to show them around the site and answer any questions they have. The older member also reviews some of their work which sounds like something you're interested in. So maybe check it out!

I don't mind critique at all; I actually appreciate it very much. I've been through the phase of posting stories on MySpace and hearing everyone only compliment it, and me being happy with just that. xD But I really want to improve my writing now in whatever way I can. The more critique, the better!

AM, we seem to have a bit in common. ^^ Hah, I've been playing drums for around three years...I'm decent at the set too, but not amazing. xD Hopefully one day I'm amazing at it, but I just seem to have no motivation to sit down at my set and practice random nonsense.

The Buddy System sounds like a good idea. I think I'm doing alright by myself at the moment though; I'm figuring most things out. :]

I do have one question. After my works are reviewed, should I edit them in the same topic or leave the rough draft the way it is and just take the advised revisions to heart?
