Sakura and the strange eye

Wow, you have a real talent here. I like your style, even though you've google as a reference they're very good. The eye is amazing, it looks reptilian almost but it reminds me of an owl somehow... The anime piece is my favourite though, it's a shame that the shading didn't come out but I don't think it damages the picture too much. You wouldn't imediatly say 'this is bad because it has no shadding', I only notice it because you've said that the shadding hasn't come out properly. Maybe try doing the rest of the body so that it's not just a floating head, I'd be curious as to what kind of pencil you used because you've managed to capture varying shades.

I've never reviewed a picture, but wow! You're very good. I like the veins in the eye, it definitely makes it pop. I'm sad about the shading in Sakura. Oh well, boo on you stupid scanner. They're very very good and these are the stuff I'd see on google and stuff. Good job!

Uhmm, I really don't how to explain myself with drawings. Most artist in deviantArt prefered to explain it with pictures, pointing out on what spot that you need to work out. I just hope you got my point here. So here goes:

For Sakura: I like it, especially the nose. You somehow manage to replicate every detail of Sakura's look. Eventhough, she does not have a pointy nose, I still love it compare to anime itself. I also have checked your anatomical structure; so far you have no problem in her face: the ear is properly aligned in her edge of her eye, and the division of the face suits well. However, I have a little problem with her forehead; It looks flat. Try to curve more of her forehead to make it more a realistic manga, and I bet that's not a big problem. Secondly, her headband is too wide. It makes the back of her head looks flat due to the dimensional effect. At first, I thought the shape of her head is making her look awkward, but I guess I was wrong.

Strange eye: Is this a realistic drawing, or more in manga style? I noticed his eyes; it looks like anime style, more like the eyes of Sakura or something. If that's your style, go ahead! I cannot say anything more about this one, you did it great.

Overall review: You did great in the eyes. It looks lively that I could ever imagine. The major problem here is your shading. They're rough that tends to catch our eyes more in your shading rather than your drawing. Well, I'm also no good in shadings but my friend gave me a tip in shadowing. She told me to smoothen the shadow, is try using cotton balls after you had finished shadowing/coloring. I tried it before and it works; you should try it also. And I know a group that could help you improve your drawing; it's in deviantArt.

Amazing job. There were only few things that were a little off for me but again overall very good drawings. For Sakura, I think that the caving (I do not how it is called) between the forehead and the nose is too deep. Also, like chiaro mentioned, the nose a little sharp. For the eye, for some reason, the upper eye lid looks a little wrong to me but I cannot pinpoint a reason for that.
Great job. I loved the shading.

The first one is really beautiful. The shading that you used and the angle you captured the subject at was really well done. And as for the second, I'd hate to see what it looks like on a face! It was creepy, and really well done. The textures and shading you did made it very ominous looking. Great job =]

Okay, so . . . I really like the anime girl. She's very nicely done and the position you have her in is almost unnerving. I don't know why. It just seems like a snapshot, taken while she was moving quickly, or something. Like there's agitation there. -shrugs- Anyway, in general, the form is lovely. (Since you copied it, I can't speak on emotion much, can I? Ha.)

The guy's eye, I think, is also emotional--sort of in a deep pit of despair/sickness sort of way. I can't match it to any of my characters, and I've sent them on 10,000 leagues under the angst ocean trips. I can't exactly imagine what would cause somebody to look like that--and it has my interest piqued. Again, talking about emotions. ^^ Oh well. As for form? I can imagine the rest of a sepia photo attached to that eye; maybe the face of an old soldier returned from war, his family by his side smiling as he stands stiffly, realizing he can't--he's stuck. Rigid. Maybe. Or not. Maybe that or an old-timey photograph of Alex from A Clockwork Orange.

I like these a lot! I was surprised at how pretty Sakura looked. She's from Naruto, right? I've never watched it, but if I can recognize a character from a show I've never seen, that definitely means your drawing is accurate ^_^ Everything about her just looks pretty to me, from her cute nose to her eyes to her flowy hair, I love it all! I don't see a problem at all with the shading, actually think you should just leave the outline, ditch the gray shading and color it with bright shades. I had an urge to color it digitally when I saw it ^_^

For the eye, very cool! I love the detail on it, it really makes the picture. I get the sense that it's a reptile, something dragony (dragony is a new word now xP). You seem to have really payed attention to your reference, because the shading's really precise. This looks like it would be really difficult to color (I don't even know if I would tackle it xP) so it's really up to you. I think it looks great in black and white.

Keep drawing! You are obviously getting better and it's cool to see you trying new things!

And finally I came to review this.

# The first drawing: Love it! The drawing is absolutely beautiful, well done with this one. I love her hair mostly. I have noticed some of the members mentioning something about her forehead being flat. I'd say there is nothing wrong with her forehead as a sketch but you can fix this using some shading in the middle. Also, I have one more suggestion is to divide the hair into thick strands on the left part of her hair instead. That way, it would appear more realistic.

# The second drawing: It looks scary, yet I can't stop staring at it. = ) I wouldn't criticize this one, it is well-drawn.
