Today I'm finally going to do it.
I'm going to open the door,
Show them the real me.

Today is the day I've feared,
Ever since I discovered myself.
Ever since I've been taught certain opinions
About what I feel I must confess.

Today I'm opening the door,
It has not been easy in the past,
But I must fight my insecurities,
And hope I can stand my ground.

This peom is short but it captures the mood of the piece well for three stanzas.
I like the confliction between the "Real you" and what you have been taught- as a teenager i think this is something that can be very relavent. I would need to read some more of your work to look at your style, but i think this is a nice little piece. It would proabably be more impresive maybe? when read aloud to an audiance, just to add that little bit more tone and feeling into it, and also it sounds like the rythm fits well with that. Best of luck for your other work and this one :)

It's amazing how you have the ability to jam so much emotion into three stanzas, yet it comes across rather cold and hazed. I love your style of writing! :D

This is something many people fear, you don't know how people are going to, react. If their going to accept you, but the thing is you shouldn't care to be accepted there's always gonna be that one person who won't like you, but I guess it's easier said then done.

Today I'm opening the door,
It has not been easy in the past,

I like the imagery of this, I can picture a girl/guy just standing behind a door, perspiring and feeling nervous then they take a deep breathe and reach for the handle, this was great hope to read more from you ♥

Tidal waves they rip right through me
Tears from eyes worn cold and sad
Pick me up now, I need you so bad
Down down down down

I agree with the other reviews, you were able to put so much emotion and feeling into the poem, and it was very easy to relate to, I think you really paid attention to the audience and made the poem really strong!
