Welcome to Tsila’s Den, home of thieves, slave traders and mysterious Shadow Queens.

In the small desert city of Tsila, there’s something amiss. The crumbling city is not the home of some great King, but really inhabited by a band of thieves, orphans and slave traders--among other things. Claiming to rule over them is a mysterious woman known only as The Shadow Queen. Many of those who linger in Tsila fear her, and many more regard her as a Goddess. Some believe her mad--or possessed. Or worse; not that they know the Queen’s true self--that of the Goddess their city was named after.

Either way, things have become interesting in Tsila’s den. Someone thought kidnapping a princess would be rather smart, and so a small group of would-be-kidnappers have brought Princess Amalia Mokosh of Ga’hila back to Tsila in the hopes of pulling a small fortune out of her father. She’s been more trouble than they thought she would be--and annoying, too. More importantly, the Shadow Queen has suddenly taken an interest in the Ga’hilan Princess.

But worse than the mysterious woman, is the fact that the King has somehow tracked that small band of would-be-kidnappers back to their lair--Tsila, city of the desperate. He now has a small army of around two thousand men camped only a few miles south of the city, effectively blocking the Southern gate. And leaving the only the only way out the Eastern gate--and a way out straight into the second, hidden camp of soldiers.

In a siege-like situation, there’s so much that could go wrong.

Important Information:

Tsila - Goddess Of Thieves and Assassins:
Spoiler

Tsila’s Den - The City of Tsila:
Spoiler
Image
The city, a den of thieves and slave traders, orphans and assassin, is an old, crumbling palace of a long forgotten King. The building was built beside an oasis and atop a slight rise in the ground, giving it a slight tactical advantage if it were ever to be attacked. There are two ways into the building--the South Gate and the East Gate--along with several areas claimed by different people or bands in the City.

The city was found as it is, with all inner walls in place and working gates. The only additions were those made by the inhabitants to make room for their grouping populace.

Location/Landscape:
Spoiler
The are surrounding Tsila’s Den is mostly desert. Harsh, hot and dry--with the exception of Tsila’s oasis. Several miles to the East and slightly North-east is the Ocean and several miles North/North-west in the forest known as Gahija Arsu. Or, roughly translated, Shadow Wood. To the south and west is the desert of Suhila, or Bright Sands.

Races/People:
Spoiler
There are very few races other than human in Ga’hila, and those include Sorcerers or Sorceresses and perhaps a god or goddess. The majority of Ga’hilans are human and have little to no magical powers, if any.

-Gods/Goddesses: Gods & Goddesses are beings of immense power, pretty much immortal and ageless--it's impossible to tell exactly how old they are. They are bound by unnatural laws to do nothing more than watch and record as their creations destroy each other. No one knows what the look like as they always appear cloaked in whatever colour represents them; Tsila’s colour being red, in any shade.

-Sorcerers And Sorceresses: Sorcerers are an interesting sub-race of humans. These are humans born with magic and rarely have any of the aspects of any other race in Ga’hila. They are strictly human and even if they chose to reproduce with any other race, their children will be born with magic. They may have trace characteristics of the other races, but every time they will be born with Sorcerer magic, which is anything from transformation (not to be confused with shape-shifting) to telekinesis. They also can live up to three centuries, sometimes more and are taught from an early age to harness their magic, lest they loose control of it.

-Humans: Humans can be found throughout Ga’hila and the surrounding kingdoms and have little to no magic. Any magic they do have is limited and uncontrolled. Humans make wonderful soldiers, though.

Ranks:
Spoiler
There are many ranks in the realm of Ga’hila, including Royalty, thief, assassin and orphan, among others. They are as diverse as the colour of one’s skin, hair or eyes. Many of those in Ga’hila are in the poorer categories--being pickpockets and thieves, beggars and orphans.

-Royalty: Royalty are humans who have been born into power, into royalty. Or those who have taken it. Princes, Princesses, Kings, Queens, Lords and Ladies; someone who rules over others. Normally, they are human...although you sometimes find a Sorcerer claiming the title of king or a Goddess parading around as queen.

-Soldiers & Royal Guards: Soldiers and Royal Guards are humans who have signed themselves into the King's keeping. They are either a Soldier (of any rank) or a Royal Guard and are expert fighters, tending to be older (especially if a General or high-ranking Guard) and loyal to Ga’hila and it's King.

-Commoners: Those who have no royal blood. Humans who are born to those without a title. They are the bulk of the human populace, running shops and markets, and making food and wine for others. They are usually content with their lives.

-The Poor: [i]Thieves and pickpockets, beggars and orphans, assassins, slaves and slave traders. The poor are usually the scum of the social order, those who have killed for money, stolen one time too many or dealt in the trading of others as slaves, people with no control or freedom over their own lives. Or even those who no longer have a family. These are the desperate and the lost, the ones who having nothing left to lose. They are the ones who have taken over a ruin and turned it into a haven.

Name: Katia (Kat)
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Race: human
Rank Assassin
Allegiance: Herself, Tsila’s Den

Appearance: Kat is five foot four inches, with bright red shoulder lenght hair that is always put into a meticulous braid. Hey eyes are a blue gray and always ice cold. She wears dark colours, black and midnight blues, with a little red string bracelet to honour Tsila. She also wears a silver locket that was her mothers.

Personality: Kat hates being told what to do. She's always cold and calculating, and is almost too stubborn. She believes she knows best for herself. Kat enjoys when things goes her way, and she'll do almost anything to get her way. She also doesn't like going out in the daylight. She does all her work at night. All around, her favorite time of day is dusk. She's particularly skilled at using daggers, and hates using any other weapon. She's not cheerful, exactly, or depressing. She's rarely angered, but her main mood is always a coldly witty and sarcastic one.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Kat is very narcissistic. Anything she does, she does mainly for herself, and then Tsila's Den. She makes sure that any job she does will get her the highest pay.

Power/s: N/A

History: Kat was orphaned when she was eight. Her father was an assassin, and her mother was thief. Both of them died trying to protect Katia and her younger sister. She took care of her sister for a while, but then she was killed a couple years after her parents.
Kat has been alone ever since. She started out as a thief, stealing small food and clothes items for herself and her sister. She had only been caught once, and that was when she attempted to steal from the Den itself. Instead of being killed, though, Dismas took her in.
She took up being an assassin as a way to avenge her family. She can remember a time when she was a cheerful and happy, but that was when she was eight. From the first person she killed, she became colder and crueler.
She still wakes up from nightmares about the night her parents were killed, then her sister.

Up For Love? Yes, but only a fling. She's straight.

Other: She has six daggers, but this one is her favorite

Name: Canta Tyrene

Age: 17-18-ish physically, but real age is 52.

Gender: Female

Race: Sorceress

Rank: Thief

Allegiance: Tsila...I guess.

Appearance: Canta looks fragile at first sight, with her frail build and sometimes delicate and sometimes awkward way of moving and walking. What most people remark on at first sight is the unhealthy pallor of her skin, as though she were continuously sick. She is not exceedingly polished, and will wear anything that is easy to move around in, even if it’s the most insipid rag in existence. Canta is short in height, but not intolerably so. However, this affects her appearance some, helping her mask her real age even more.

Her eyes are usually a moist and soft light brown, which sometimes look bright red when the light shines on them the wrong way--something that has scared off several people, even though they are rather “gem-like” naturally, according to those very same persons before they ran away. On the other hand, the rest of her features are deemed very delicate and ladylike, which Canta normally transcribes to her mother, even though they were from her father’s side. (Apparently her paternal grandmother was quite the socialite.) Wrapping all of this up is her dark, curling hair, which sweeps this way and that no matter how much Canta tries to arrange it. In short, it’s unmanageable, but pretty in its own way.

rue0201.jpg (15.26 KiB) Viewed 488 times

Personality: Outwardly quiet and obedient, Canta has a spark of disobedience and anger in her that can be triggered very easily, whether by suspicion, or just plain truth. She often comes off as frozen to strangers, whatever appearance she might have, whatever dress she might be wearing, whether plain, dragged or flamboyant. When angered, most people describe her as having the impression of a raging viper--sharp, biting and searing.

Her voice is quiet and whispery when she’s normal, which adds to the impression, leaving most people cold and distant from her. She quickly fades into the background in a crowd, which helps her do her job as a thief. Indeed, she’s probably one of the best in the den, especially when she’s working solo and not with others.

A note here: Canta doesn’t like working with others. She’s not a great talker, and everytime she had to contribute an idea to the group, someone else usually started talking over her, or even sometimes told her to “speak up”, since her voice is often low and subtle. The main problem is, actually, that she often can’t find words to fit her thoughts--while Canta’s highly imaginative, she’s not expressive, and that’s a problem. Going along with that, she’s also extremely shy.

Canta doesn’t take betrayal easily--no one would, after having lived for 52 years and being tossed around by a lot of people who didn’t want a Sorceress near them. If you hurt her, you’ll be paid back someday and someway, especially since one of her powers is a rather strange one (look below for details). If you hurt someone close to her, expect to receive the same treatment.

Of course, Canta has no one close to her, which is probably why if she does make a friend, she will treasure them forever. That is also why she upholds loyalty so keenly, perhaps, and also may be the reason why she wishes for companionship a lot. So if anyone tries to get close to her, they better be prepared for the consequences.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Canta is exceedingly weak when it comes to physical combat--one hit, and she might be left out of the melee for quite a while. This also goes hand in hand with her inability to express her thoughts and feelings to other people. While she tends to make a good first impression on most, if not all, she usually leaves them with suspicion and fear, probably because of her bad people skills. As noted above, she’s extremely shy, and often fumbles when someone asks her opinion.

Power/s: Canta has three powers, one of which is excessively strange to a lot of people. The first, normal one is singing--her singing can manipulate people’s emotions, and for this reason she often sings when she’s alone and not with other people. Her second one, however, is considered “spiritual” at its root. While it can’t make fire out of thin air or anything flashy like that, anything she says with intent to make it come true will almost inevitably happen, as long as it isn’t something unnatural and/or death-determining. If she says “you will die” or “your daughter will die”, relax--it won’t happen. However, if she says “you’ll be robbed sometime this month” or “you will lose the person you love”, be wary. It might just happen. The third one isn’t as strange, but it worth mentioning--she can sense another Sorcerer when she comes near them.

History: Canta was born Chantelle Leonay about 52 years ago in a little farm just on the outskirts of Etrea, a small port town looking out to the ocean. During childbirth, her mother had died, leaving her solely the ward of her father, the only scion of a noble family that fell on hard times. He was a farmer by profession, and Canta stills says that he was a very polite and quiet man even when they had the worst of luck--except when it came to unknown and foreign things.

Unfortunately, Canta--or Chantelle as she was then, was obviously unknown to him. A child that grew three times as slowly as a normal human child never went unnoticed for long, and soon his neighbours began whispering about how the mother must have been a Sorceress, and how the child is one as well. He, of course, came to the same conclusion.

He hadn’t known his wife for long--it had been a whirlwind romance of only a few months, and when she had died he named their child after her, hoping the girl would grow up to be like her mother. Everyone knew that the gene was passed on from parent to child, and just like he had wanted, the girl became another Chantelle, not just in name but in spirit as well; and as things go on, it became unbearable to have her in the house, so he turned her out onto the street.

Twelve-year-old Chantelle looked like a four year old, and had the same abilities as that of a four year old. Left to fend for herself, she understood that as long as she made a big, fluffy, weepy face, people would give her bread and sweets and all those things a small toddler needs to survive. For shelter, she usually went to the nearest inn and sneaked in through one of the windows into an empty room, and slept the night off there. So she would’ve gone on, had not a certain traveller by the name of Leo Tyrene been visiting at that very same inn one day, stopping on his way to Tsila.

He looked like any other young man of 20 (he professed himself to be of that age) but in reality, he was much, much older--a Sorcerer in reality, he kept his head down and went about as a human, hoping nobody would notice, and nobody did, until he came to that inn to rest. Chantelle noticed something was off about the nice but strange young man, so she investigated him with all the discreetness of a toddler, knocking over objects and humming while she listened at his door for snatches of conversation. Of course, he had noticed, and opened the door, staring suspiciously down at her.

That had been the start of their long and winded friendship--or perhaps it would be wiser to call it a mentorship. For, as Chantelle grew up, she discarded her previous name and called herself Canta Tyrene, taking Leo’s last name as her own. She thought of him as her father and he thought of her as his daughter. They would’ve stayed together for a long time, perhaps, had it not been that Leo was being called away to a war in his distant homeland, and he didn’t want Canta to take any part in it. She had been thirty-five when he left her, telling her that they’d see each other someday again.

This is where her story gets a little awry. Canta went back to Etrea, where everyone recognized her, and now her father was known as an infamous drunk who destroyed and sobbed his way out of every pub and problem he got himself into. She fell in love with a young man, and they dated together for a while, before he recapitulated to family pressure and broke it off, calling her a freak. To top it off, her father denounced her in front of the entire village as a girl who stole her mother’s soul as well as a liar, and Canta had to run away from the town in tears.

She went from town to city to village, trying to find work that suited her--but nothing fit, and just when she thought she’d never get anything good, she came to Tsila, and ended up in the Den. Thieving suited her, and actually stealing material goods felt better than being blamed for stealing someone’s soul. That had been five years ago, and still she does this for a living.

Up For Love? Yes, but since Canta has three times the lifetime of a normal human, she will be heartbroken if she falls in love with someone like that. She is straight.

Other: Leo might show up later, I suppose.

Placeholder for my char profiles.

Edit: Profiles.

Princess:
Name: Amalia Mokosh.
Age: 18.
Gender: Female.
Race: Human.
Rank Princess of Ga’hila.
Allegiance: Ga’hila, herself.

Appearance: Amalia is about 5’5 in height with lightly tanned skin, pitch black hair and light blue eyes. She wears traditional Ga'hila robes that include a headscarf that covers her face. If she has the headscarf on, she highly dislikes having to take it off. She's rarely seen without it. Always seemed to be dressed in earthy tones with a splash of blue thrown in.
Spoiler
Image

Personality: Amalia seems timid, kind and naive at first but she's not shy or afraid to speak her mind, even if she gets hurt because of it. She often gets her in trouble for speaking her mind and luckily someone has always seemed to be there to get her out of it. Fierce and loyal, Amalia can't stand to see those she cares about hurt or threatened. She's not timid, but she is kind of blunt and sometimes comes off as cold and uncaring. Surprisingly, she does have a fiery temper, but she'll only lose it when she's been pushed too far. She can also be a bit of a handful, since she's way too curious for her own good and can often take something way too seriously.

She panics when backed into a corner and dislikes violence, fighting, death, bullies and rules. She really likes Tsila's Temple, sunrise, the stars, the moon, the sun, life, temple life and freedom. She's good at sneaking around, but it's kind of pointless--her Father usually knows when she is. She has a tendency to take offence way too easily and loves it when people try to scam things out of her father---part of the reason why she knows this little stunt probably won't work. She won't stand down when confronted about something she doesn't want to do or thinks is wrong.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Amalia sometimes takes things way too seriously and has been told on way too many occasions to 'lighten up'. They didn't end well. Sometimes way too stubborn for her own good and doesn't take orders well when she doesn't exactly agree with them. Tends to be blunt and speak her mind often enough that it only leds to trouble that she couldn't get out of without her Father's help.

Power/s: N/A.

History: Amalia was born to the King of Ga'hila and his queen. She is his only daughter and the eldest of all his children. During her early childhood, she loved playing in the Palace gardens with her younger brothers. When she reached the age of seven, though, he father started grooming her for a future marriage to a neighbouring King's son. They hoped to secure peace between them, but sadly, it all went wrong. Long before Amalia even knew about it, that neighbour king's family was destroyed--their home then burnt to the ground. It left Amalia's father saddened and desperate.

For the next eleven years, he tried to find out what had happened, sent search parties throughout the kingdom, but they always came back with the same news; "There is no sign of them, the home is destroyed and no clue as to those who did it." Amalia heard this and grew curious. Who would want to stop their neighbouring family? Why would they destroy them and leave no trace? It was a mystery--one she resolved to figure out. And so, for the next year, she sent out people of her own, delved into the darker side of her world and spoke to the poor--the thieves and the assassins, the beggars and the orphans. She only found the same result as her father--or slaves who could not speak nor write to tell her. They could nod, but nothing more.

Frustrated, Amalia contacted a small band of thieves and pickpockets. They said they could find out for her, but it would probably be best if she came with them. She refused. One night, not too long ago, this band of thieves and pickpockets broke into her rooms and kidnapped the Princess. Now Amalia is in Tsila's Den, in the midst of those she can't possible trust. And in the presence of the infamous King of Thieves.

Up For Love? Yes. She’s straight.

Other: Amalia carries an old key on a chain around her neck. Not even she knows what it's for.

Thief King:
Name: Dismas Anshar.
Age: 22.
Gender: Male.
Race: Human.
Rank King of Thieves.
Allegiance: Himself, Tsila’s Den/Thieve’s Den. The Shadow Queen.

Appearance: Dismas is tall, around 6’, with shoulder length dark hair and lightly tanned skin. He has hundreds of faint scares covering his body thanks to the many beatings the old Thief King dished out in the name of keeping up appearances. But they scars only add to his rugged attraction--according to Neri, that is. Like Vance, he likes to wear expensive looking clothes and dislikes it if he has to--if you ever manage to convince him to wear them--poor-looking clothes. He prefers dark colours and wears a red sash as a belt in honour of Tsila.
Spoiler
Image Image

Personality: Despite his somewhat cold yet playful and arrogant first impression, Dismas is actually kind, loving, caring, smart, determined, loyal and fierce, though very easily distracted. He hates to see those he cares about hurt. He can get really defensive if someone he likes is harmed, and if you start asking questions about his past, he’ll often shut down and just not talk if you bring up anything to do with his family, and if he doesn’t shut down, he’s get mad—really mad. Although a mad Dismas is a rare sight, and not a very good thing, either. You might end up hurt--badly. He hates doing it, but he won’t hesitate if it’s needed. Dimas may be talented as a thief, but he won’t tolerate liars or anyone who shows an unhealthy interest in his past. His main downfalls are his short temper and those who try to pry into his past.

He’s quiet and thoughtful more often than not and thinks a lot before speaking or doing something. He likes to plan things out, if he can, and dislikes when his plans are thoroughly screwed up by stupid mistakes. And he has made a few mistakes in the past, and dislikes when this is pointed out. He also hates being called helpless or a coward—it’s another downfall of his. And he certainly isn’t either when it comes down to life or death situations. Dismas may have a blank, cold and uncaring edge to his expression, like he’s lost all emotion or just doesn't give a damn about the rest of the world. This is because he's feeling sad and/or remember his family, which is a very sad topic for him. He's also a bit of a thief and things tend to go missing when he's around, then again, he is Thief King for a reason. He can't help it if he was born with sticky fingers...

He’s very loyal to the Shadow Queen and finds her beautiful, even though he’s not as interested in women as he used to be. And he’s also honoured to be able to work with her. There’s also his fake facade; the cruel one the many see as him as. He doesn’t bother trying to correct this and often does things to keep up the facade, regardless of how sick it makes him feel to do so. This includes buying slaves from Vance and using them, even though he always asks for permission first. He has a small group of slaves-turned-inner-circle who act as a kind of ‘royal’ guard for him. They follow him almost everywhere and follow his orders almost blindly. They would never betray him, either. They’ve seen what he does to people who don’t do as they’re told--it includes loosing a tongue.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Dismas has an aversion to his past. Anyone who has ever tried to pry too deeply to get it out of him has ended up without a tongue and swiftly sold off as as slave. He has a major flaw in his temper--it often blinds him and he ends up doing stupid and/or very unreasonable things. He finds it hard to keep up his cold, cruel Thief King facade, but does it anyway. This is his home and he has no where else to go--except back to his old home to claim the title of Ansharian King. Which he will never do while those who killed his family are still alive. You could say he’s rather tormented, really. And he has a lot to lose.

Power/s: N/A.

History: Dismas’s history is a bit of a mystery--at least, to those who don’t know him very well (which is most of the people in Tsila’s den). As far as most in Tsila are concerned, Dismas was born and raised in the Thieve’s den and eventually stole the throne. No one questions him about his past (or his claim to the Thief King throne)--at least, not too intensely--and if they do, he hands them off to Vance, after cutting out their tongues, to sell them off as fast as possible.

Beneath it all, though, there’s a darker story.

Dismas is the son of a long forgotten king, and he doesn’t like to talk about it--let alone have anyone who knows about it near him. It only causes heartache and sorrow--something Dismas never wants to feel again. So he tries his hardest to wipe all memory of his past from Tsila’s den.

His first ten or so years of life were spent in luxury. He has everything and anything he could ever want and spent hours upon hours playing outside in the garden with his younger brother and sisters. Life was grand and beautiful, and fun. At least to Young Dismas. His siblings were young, but they seemed to love him. His mother adored him, and his father was good to him.

Until the day he turned ten---a stranger came visiting. Apparently, his father knew the man. But he wouldn’t let his son into the room while the stranger and his father spoke. Dismas waited outside the study door for hours, listening to them yelling. Finally, his father opened the door and invited Dismas in.

Dismas entered the room...and his father left it. What happened next, Dismas would rather forget. The stranger abused him, and tortured him. And then finally, it stopped. Dismas thought it was over. He was wrong. Hours after he had entered the room, the man carried him out of it, spoke lowly with his father and then they were gone.

The man took him to Tsila’s den, revealed himself to be the Thief King and explained the situation with Dismas. Apparently, there was some sort of so-called ‘business deal’ with the boy’s father. That the man had gotten into debt and wanted his son out of the way since there was something much worse coming to Anshar Manor. Dismas, despite being young, didn’t cry or whine about why it had happened to him. He just said two words; “Please explain” in a very calm voice. And so the Thief King did.

Dismas’s father had had an arrangement with another king, something about marrying his youngest sister, little five-year-old Zilar, off to the other king’s eldest son--a man of twenty-five. And a very violent man at that. It was supposed to be a peace treaty thing. Dismas’s father refused. The other king grew furious and put out the word to any bandits who would listen--the Anshar family had to die.

The Thief King said that, since his father didn’t want him to die, the king had contacted his old-time friend, a thief would had escaped a hanging by Dismas’s father’s intervention. The King of Thieves explained that he owed the other man a debt, one he couldn’t possibly pay even if he had the money. But it wasn’t money Dismas’s father had wanted. He couldn’t save his wife or any of his other children, but he could save Dismas, even if it hurt his son. So the Thief King had come within days of the message. When he left with Dismas, who was almost unconscious, they had only hours to leave the Manor before the bandits arrived.

Dismas’s home was burnt to the ground, and his family along with it. As the eldest, he was now technically King. But Dismas decided it wasn’t worth the risk of going back. After all, wouldn’t the bandits only want him dead as well? Reluctantly, the Thief King agreed and for the next five years began grooming the boy to take over. He said once that great pain came with living. Dismas understood--all those hours back at the Manor reminded him. He now knew why the Thief King had done what he did. He had to know pain before he could know anything else. And know pain he did. After all, hadn’t he lost his entire family?

To keep up appearances, the old Thief King let everyone think Dismas was his new slave. He received regular beatings and lectures. But the older man never did anything more. He let people think what they would and secretly taught Dismas how to handle the thieves. When he was fifteen, the old Thief King thought it was time Dismas ‘stole’ the throne. The man had been planning on retiring, anyway.

So, one day he took only Dismas out into the Desert and gave the boy strict instructions. He told Dismas to cut off a couple of fingers from his left hand, take the ring he always wore and to go back to the Den with a bloodied knife. Dismas did as he had asked, watched the man ride off into the sandstorm that had been brewing all day and then finally returned. He recounted the tale to the rest of the thieves and claimed the title of King of Thieves, along with the throne. Most believed him and those who didn’t, had their tongues cut out and were sent to the Slave Trader King to be sold.

For the next seven years, Dismas set about making a name for himself. Those not from Tsila’s Den who heard of Dismas the Thief King now feared him and made it a point to avoid the Den--unless they were desperate and had no where else to go. Dismas hasn’t bothered to correct anyone who thinks him cruel. Those who are close to him know his true face--and it’s no where near as fearful as they think.

Up For Love? Sure, he may be looking for love, but he’s scared. It could cost him his cruel facade if he’s not careful. Also, he tends to lean more towards men than woman. Basically, bi with gay tendencies.

Other: Dismas carries several daggers, but his favourite is this;

Name: Neri Hereford
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Rank Thief
Allegiance: Dismas and Tsila

Appearance: Neri isn’t short, but she isn’t tall either. She’s about average height for her age and her body can certainly tell you she’s not a child, she’s well endowed to say the least. Her deep red hair reaches just over her shoulders and is usually left down, unless the thief king tells her to do other wise. Her eyes are a light honey brown and large in comparison to the rest of her face.

She has a thing for long gloves that reach up most of her arm, and they’ve proven to be helpful when it comes to hiding weapons/gold/other small things she steals. She likes to dress herself up and make herself look good, mostly for the thief king than anyone else.

Spoiler
Image

Personality: Neri is your happy-go-lucky and way too chipper type. She’s always got even the smallest smile on her face, even if she’s crying. Some people wonder if she’s slightly crazy, and she just may be with how enamoured she is with Dismas. She follows him around like a little puppy and hangs off his every word like it came from the bible. She seems to think that know one knows about her ‘crush’ on Dismas, but her flirting is just far too obvious. A couple of outsiders could mistake them for a couple.

She never questions Dismas, but she does question every one else’s motives. The only people she trusts are the people from the thieves’ den, they’re practically family to her. She’s always ready to get them out of a sticky situation and she’s more than positive that any of them would do the same for her. She’s the one person in the thieves’ den who is one hundred percent reliable, and capable of keeping a secret.

Flaws/Weaknesses: She’s horrified of the dark, she’s not a very talented fighter, she can be a little annoying and she doesn’t understand the concept of ‘personal space’.

Power/s: Nada

History: All of Neri’s early life is a blur to her, she figures it’s because she was too young to remember what happened. Her earliest memories are of her and her brother playing in the slave trader’s den. He was the only person she had to talk to, because he wouldn’t let her play with the slaves. He told her they were hardly even human and not worthy of her company.
Around the time she was seven she had taken to leaving the den to steal. At first it was only food, when she was hungry. Then her eyes caught pretty things like jewelery and she just had to have it. She thought she was the best thief in the world and that no one would ever catch her, not even Vance, but she was wrong. The first time she was caught was when she was trying to steal a ruby off a merchant’s table. He snatched her up and threatened to cut off her hands for thievery, but was saved by another thief who took her to the thieves den.

She grew fond of visiting the other thieves, and she was getting tired of living with Vance. He hardly had the time for her anymore, he was always too busy with his ‘Slave Trader King’ business to do anything with her. So, she moved into the thieves’ den. This is where she met Dismas for the first time, and she’s been obsessed with him since.

Up For Love? She kinda has the biggest crush ever on Dismas, but if you could snap her out of that then maybe.

Other: (Anything we’ve missed?)

Name: Vance Hereford
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Rank Slave Trade King
Allegiance: Tsila, his sister, the shadow queen.

Appearance:
Spoiler
Image

He and his sister share a lot when it comes to appearances. They both have their mother’s deep red hair, which seems almost unnatural. Unlike his sister, Vance has died it darker to keep it from looking almost pink. His eyes are a dull green, again unlike his sister’s, but he is average height for his age group like his sister.

Another thing he and his sister have in common is their love for nice clothes. Vance would never stoop as low as wearing common street clothes, especially in public.

Personality: Vance doesn’t care what happens to anyone, as long as in the end whatever happens benefits him. He doesn’t see humans as his equals, and they should all have to earn his respect. Especially women. Which would explain why he has no problem putting a price on a human life. Of course, the Shadow Queen has his full respect and honour, and so does the thief king. Of course, the thief king could easily lose it if he hurt his little sister -- emotionally or physically.

He’s not particularly fond of his little sister, but he loves her enough not to sell her on the black market and to not let anyone hurt her. He does see her as a bit of a problem at times, which is why he’s happy he could dump her on Dismas, until he does something stupid to hurt her of course.

Much like his sister he’s not the strongest person, but unlike his sister he does know how to fight. He’d rather throw a few strong- well calculated blows than throw himself into the heat of battle like a baboon. His biggest weakness is his little sister, if she was ever put into danger Vance would lose all grip with what’s right and wrong and possibly kill to get her from harm. She’s the last thing he has to remind him of his mother.

When he’s asked about his sister, he clearly states that since their father is dead she is his property to do what he pleases with until he hands her off to a husband or new master. He’s thoroughly convinced himself of this, too. He keeps a close eye on Dismas and the thieves den, both for his sister and his business’s sake. He has a sinking feeling they’re planning something against him, then again he is rather paranoid.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Jumps to conclusions, over defensive, spoiled, untrustworthy, slightly insane.

Power/s: N/A

History: Vance and Neri used to be the only children to the beautiful Lord and Lady Hereford. Lord Hereford was owner of Hereford industries, a company that made weapons. Of course, when your in a business like that things can get dangerous within the competition. Vance was fourteen when he started noticing strange people who visited, they’d go into his father’s office and then there would be yelling. Then, they’d leave again.

It wasn’t until Vance’s father came out of his office with a black eye that he realized that this was more than just a ‘business disagreement’. That night, the children’s nanny woke them from their sleep and brought them out into the woods. She gave Vance a bag of money, handed him Neri and told him to run. The woman was too old to run, herself. But she promised she’d be fine. The last thing Vance saw of their old life as he traveled off away from their home was the hell storm of flames that licked the sky.

They spent only a few days in the city, but that was plenty of time for Vance to learn the harsh cruel ‘reality’ of the world. Through the public’s eyes, humans were not equals. It all depended on where you stood in the pyramid, and he didn’t want to be near the bottom. He readied what little he and his sister had and commandeered a horse. He was only fifteen at the time, a whole year hadn’t even passed yet and Vance had already changed so much.

Life in the desert was harder than Vance had imagined it would be, but it was better than having the chance at losing what little he had.

One night while scavenging for food, a group of men on horses came to raid their little ‘camp’ seeing the fire he had started. Vance did all he could to keep them away, threw rocks, sticks from the fire, his shoes, punches but they still managed to get the upper hand. Vance held his sister close as they were brought to Tsila’s Den. Vance was sixteen at the time.

The slave trader king of the time took interest in the two, and kept them as his personal slaves. He wanted Vance more than Neri, but he refused to even speak unless he was promised his sister wouldn’t be harmed. Vance tried to keep life as normal as possible for her as they grew up, and he taught her everything she needed to know. The child showed natural thievery skills and eventually ran off to join the thieves. That was long after Vance had usurped the throne from the slave trade king to have it as his own.

Up For Love? Maybe a fling, and he’s straight.

Name: Lady Cyrilla of The Fallen Heights
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Rank: Lady
Allegiance: Self

Appearance: Cyrilla is a tall, pale beauty with long, fair, almost white hair that always hang freely over her shoulders. She’s got a fragile bone-structure and can appear to wobble a little when she wanders around her property in her luxurious satin gowns. She’s got a face that is both hard to forget yet difficult to remember. With its extraordinary big incredibly blue eyes, soft, cold, lips, high cheekbones and a petite, pointy nose she looks quite special. But there is also something gloomy and cryptic about it so that when you try to picture her face in your mind the pieces won’t really match.

Personality: Cyrilla is a pretty odd girl who’s very curious but also mischievous and impatient. She enjoys playing tricks on other people and she can be spotted wandering around the properties of other royalty hidden under a hooded cloak trying to find someone to scare. Even though she’s soon 20 years old she acts like a child in the way she appears and she can appear just as innocent and oblivious as one too. Thinking that she is, would be a mistake though since she can be very dangerous and deceptive as well. Overall Cyrilla is unpredictable and isn’t someone to rely on.
Cyrilla love to dream and more than often sinks down in one of her daydreams and remain oblivious to the outside world. As the young lady she is she’s also quite fond of jewellery and pretty, sparkling things but she hates to wear them and prefer just collecting and admiring them. Another thing she dislikes bravely is manners. She wasn’t born in a wealthy society, only raised in one and she never really fit into it. She doesn’t walk with her head held high nor does she smile and behave in social groups.

Flaws/Weaknesses: As mentioned she behaves awkwardly in social groups and among people in average and therefore people tend to act strangely in her company. Many people avoid her because of this which leads to her getting more and more isolated from the world.

Power/s: She mess with peoples memories, not erase them completely, but rearrange or fog them. She’s got an aura of this vague power hanging over her constantly, causing people to have a hard time remembering how she looks.

History: Cyrilla was born in a village at a location somewhere in the outcast of the city but was at the age of four abandoned by her people for reasons unknown. An old man, Charles of The Fallen Heights found her, and since he had neither wife nor kids he took her in and raised her as his own, giving her a life of expense at a beautiful property containing meadows, oaks and streams. She never managed to get along with her peers though and the adults found her wild and odd. So she spent most of her time just watching the world or wander across The Fallen Heights dreaming. When she was fifteen years old, Charles died, leaving The Fallen Heights for her to take care of. She still spend most her time at her home but sometimes she put on a cloak and wander the city streets. She sneaks into alleyways watching the thieves and orphans, she spies on the royalty from behind the bushes and fences and sometimes she enters social events, pressing tight in the corners only to observe.

Up For Love? Yes. She doesn’t socialize much with people her own age but she’s a dreamer and love is a fairy-tale in her mind.

Alright, here is my profile. His master is DSF's character and she'll be posting her's soon! :D

Name: Dewey (He has no last name as he is an orphan and he adopted Dewey after stealing it from a children's book he'd adored when he was younger.)

Age: 12 years of age.

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Rank: Orphan

Allegiance: Is to his master and what she believes.

Appearance:
Spoiler
Image

Dewey is a blonde haired boy with freckles splattered all over his lightly toned skin. His hair is always clotted with mud and ruffled enough so that it stands on end. His eyes are a dark green colour brimmed with the longest eyelashes you've ever seen. If you just saw his eyes, you would've thought it was a girl. Dewey is very small for his age, wearing only trousers and a cap. His chest is bare showing just how thin he is underneath, and I am pretty sure he has never heard of the invention of shoes. For this reason the soles of his feet are extremely tough, and his back is always sun burnt. His ears always stick out when he wears his cap, and dirt is always smudged on every part of his body.

Personality: Dewey is a ratty little boy who doesn't follow anyone’s rules but those of his masters. He runs around making trouble, he plays pranks that could often kill someone and he is always stealing! Dewey is a bit of an actor also, he adopted his trait from when he was very young to hoax the young rich kids who fell into his crosshairs. Dewey loves magic, everything in fact that means defying the laws of physics. And even though he has some terrible scarring because of what he had done in the past, Dewey loves the adrenalin rush he gets from slipping his hand into someone’s pocket and taking anything he can wrap his little fingers around. One thing he especially likes, thanks to his master, is custard apples that grow on cacti around the kingdom. He loves to bite into the skin and rip back the flesh, getting as much juices into his mouth as he can. Also, he finds emu racing extremely exciting and will jump up and down like an over excited dog to see it. And dislikes, well Dewey has a load of those. Rich people and guards the most. He hates any kind of authority and also finds himself more powerful than ordinary people that can’t use magic. Oh and not to mention insects, he is petrified of insects! So much so that when one time a beetle flew in his hair, he started crying with hysterics.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Dewey has many flaws; his attitude stinks, in other words he is a snot nosed punk. He won’t listen to anyone but his master and even if that means saving his own life. Dewey is also pretty weak, there are no muscles in those scrawny little things he calls arms. And even though he likes to boast, Dewey’s magic is far from professional. If his emotions get away from him, he can light a room on fire and won’t be able to subside it. And if I haven't pointed it out enough, this boy is very emotional.

Power/s: It depends, he is only learning now so he hardly knows anything but there is something growing as to what that is I don't know.

History: Dewey was brought into this world as an orphan. He doesn’t know his mother, his father, or even his birth right name. He grew up on the streets, stealing food from stalls, pick-pocketing the rich and even telling stories to the younger, wealthier kids who would stumble away from their parents when they weren’t looking. Dewey did everything he could to survive, and still this was not enough. When a guard caught him trying to take some of the money in his pocket, Dewey was forced to endure a whipping punishment in the middle of town square (he still carries the bruises). It was here, at the age of eight, when he first laid eyes on his master. Adopting him when he lay dying under the hot sun after his beating, she came to him and offered a price. His life, though at a price. He accepted of course, the pain was too much. The repayment was to work under her as her servant. Much to his dislike, Dewey was forced to do so – seriously; he tried to run away many times but he honestly couldn’t. This led him to think that his master was more the beets the eyes. When he confronted her after cooking one of his famous, terrible dinners, she confined in him that she was in fact a sorceress. Dewey didn’t run, he didn’t hide, he wasn’t even scared – instead, he asked if he could become her apprentice. And after a lot of persistence, she agreed.

Up For Love? :No, but he has a little crush on his master. A little kiddy thing, you know, nothing serious. He gets extremely jealous if anyone tries to step into his territory (a man tries to flatter his master).

Other: Dewey is a pretty good cook because of the fact he is always doing his master's chores. Cleaning to, even though he underestimates a bar of soap and any kind of body hygenics towards himself.
I spy!

Name: Tsila "Iris Callaway".

Age: Appears 21 in her looks, but she's immortal.

Gender: Female.

Race: Goddess.

Personality: Iris is a cold and clever woman who takes a strange interest in pick-pockets and thieves. She's very mysterious, often seen hiding her pure white hair under a red cloak. She is often neutral to those she meets, neither interested or not in what they have to say. She rarely shows emotion, only when she's angry or an excellent rober yhas occured.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Iris lacks patience, thereore she loses her temper very fast, therefore making her angry. When Iris is mad, she loses control of her mortal facade, and she might reveal he true goddess form to the onlooker, thus making the poor mortal lose their memory from two days ago up to that moment. But, she's been working on that.

Power/s: She can move objects with a simple thought, control a mortal with her mind, control the elements, and pretty much do everything a goddess can do. Iris prefers to do things the mortal way. She can fight with every weapon, nut prefers to use a long silver sword and a dagger. She can ride a horse expertly, pick a lock, run, make herself invisible (hiding), fight hand-to-hand, and self-defense.

History: Tsila is the goddess of thieves and assassins. She accepts anyone who can fight and theif, never discriminating them. She loves those who honour and worship her. Tsila is the sort of goddess who will take form of an important human and meddle in her follower's human affairs. Those who honour her wear a piece of red clothing, any shade. Whe she takes human form, she appears as a beautiful young woman with pure white hair, lightly tanned skin, and deep emerald eyes. She is often portrayed in paintings as a woman with white hair peeking out from behind a dark red cloak. She is one of the Forgotten 13.

Tsila often falls for famous thieves and assassins, such as her beloved Dante, back in the 1400's or her Apika in the 1600's. She has birthed a number of thieves and assassins, always sending them to live with their father so he can teach them. She has recently settled down in Tsila's Den, named in her honour. She enjoys helping her worshipers by creating schools for them and training them to become famous thieves one day. She loves when they go to the temple and offer her the stolen treasures they have obtained. She is, after all, a thief at heart.

Up For Love? Uhm, she's a goddess and a queen, but she doesn't discriminate by gender or race, so sure, if you try. She likes both genders.

Other: N/A.

Dismas Anshar | Tsila's Den - His Liar:

Dismas circled the girl thoughtfully, eyes narrowed. This was the girl those idiots had kidnapped? This was the Princess of Ga'hila? He scowled and turned his back on her. She had refused to uncover her face so Dismas had done it for her. But what he saw, although beautiful, did nothing for him.

"So," he drawled, pacing over to the throne-like seat he'd found in these very ruins. "This is the Princess of Ga'hila, is it?" He turned and sat, eyes roaming over her. She'd covered her face, but it didn't bother Dismas. This girl did not impress him. At all. He glanced past her to the small group of thieves who had helped take her and glared at them. "I am not impressed, Jinan. I thought you could do better. She's not much of a jewel at all, is she?"

The man in question cowered and lowered his head further. Dismas did not like to do this, but to be King of Thieves, one had to be cruel and ruthless. He would keep up the facade until it got him killed. It was the least he could do for the old Thief King. If anyone found out that he'd never actually killed the man, it would cause a lot of problems. Problems he didn't want or need. The man began to tremble and Dismas smirked.

"Leave us," he snapped and the man swiftly backed up, almost knocking over two of his friends and actually knocking over the third. They scrambled to their feet and fled the room. Dismas shook his head and covered his face with one head, almost on the verge of laughing. He knew Neri would be hiding nearby...somewhere and that her brother, Vance, would be watching from the doorway. If fact, when he looked up, the King of Slave Traders was indeed standing in the doorway, leaning against the doorjamb. "Well?" he asked and Vance raised an eyebrow, his gaze drifting towards the Princess.

"Dismas," he said and that was it. Dismas knew something was up. He stood and crossed the room, brushing past the Princess. She didn't react at all, which made Dismas curious. She hadn't even seemed disgusted by him, either. What was with this girl? He should probably try focusing on whatever had Vance worried, and not on a Princess he wasn't even impressed by. Sometimes, Dismas, he scolded himself, you are off-balanced by the stupidest things.

"What is it now?" he asked, giving the Princess a glare that clearly told her to stay put. He hadn't let her say a word since she'd been brought into the room, but the Princess clearly looked like she wanted to say something now. Vance grinned at the Thief King and glanced over his shoulder.

"What are you going to do with her," Vance muttered, jerking his head towards the Princess, "and how does it benefit me?" Dismas sighed. Somehow he had known the older man would ask that. He turned to glance back at Princess with a frown.

"I'm not sure yet," he said, grimacing. He hated it when he had to say that. He was supposed to be sure of everything--for his followers--yet here he was, stumped over one little Princess. "Let's just let her stew for now and see how it goes?" Vance didn't seem to like the idea, but at least it got him out of the room and away from the Princess. Dismas followed him and shot the girl a look. "I suggest you stay here, Your Highness," he said in a sickly-sweet voice. She gave him a glare and Dismas smirked, pulling the door shut behind him. Well, then, Neri wasn't in his rooms. Dismas wondered where she could be.

Princess Amalia Mokosh | Tsila's Den - Thief King's Liar:

Stay here? Stay here, where I was clearly not safe? The man was insane. And I was even crazier for actually listening to him. What was I going to do out there? I knew nothing of fighting and even less about sneaking around. Sure, I had managed to sneak around my home, but that was my home. This was...not my home. Clearly. I snorted and moved to explore the room, tugging my veil away from my face. There, now I could see properly.

"Stay here?" I muttered, yet again repeating myself. Although it was out loud this time. I sighed, shaking my head. "I'm insane for bothering to listen. Like I'm going to be much trouble." At that, I smirked. They clearly had no idea about what kind of trouble I could be. I wasn't one of those Princesses what sat there and waited for rescue, I tended to go find my own way out. If I could, that is. And, uh, not that I'd been in this kind of situation before...

I circled round the room, past the bed--which was little more than a raised block of smooth stone piled high with blankets--and past the shelves, which were full of fascinating things like feathers, precious jewels and gold, and other trinkets. I passed by the trunk that stood open to one side of the room, full of treasure from some long forgotten tomb and eventually came to a stop in font of the throne-like chair.

I chuckled and shook my head. "Well," I muttered to myself, "he certainly lives like a king. He has the gold, jewels and treasure, and he has the room fit for a king....and he even has a throne." I sighed and trailed my fingers over the carved arms. This throne-like chair was beautiful and dark. It must have been carved from some dark stone or wood. Judging by the coldness, even after he'd been sitting in it for a while, it had to be stone. Onyx, perhaps? And the carvings themselves--galloping horses and mythical beasts. Oh, yes. This was worthy of a king, even if he were a self-titled King of Thieves. "Men and their statements," I added, turning away. It was rather amusing, actually.

When I turned to face the door, I found it open and a girl who wasn't much younger than me stood in the doorway. She gave me a narrow-eyed glare and stepped into the room. "Who are you?" she demanded and I blinked at her. Was this the so-called Thief King's Queen? Possibly, but she seemed rather young to me, still. The smallest hint of a small turned up her lips. I frowned at her for a moment. What in all of Ga'hila was this? All I could do was watch her. She confused me, and it was not a feeling I liked.

Neri | Thieve king's den

No reply from the girl. "I asked you a question," Neri reminded her flatly. She simply narrowed her own glare at her. She was too pretty to have just wandered in here for no reason. Or even with a reason. Dismas had either bought her from Neri's brother or she had... actual interest in Neri's Dismas. She gritted her teeth at the very thought. "Listen, whoever you are. Keep away from Dizzy, or I swear I'll introduce you to my brother. You wouldn't want that."

She blinked, her glare turning into a confused gaze as they stood in silence. "I am not interested in the Thief King," she replied sourly, finally breaking the silence. She quickly moved to fix her veil back over her face. Neri naturally didn't believe her in the slightest.

"Whatever you say, but I'll be watching you," she leaned forward and grabbed the girl's arm, leveling another one of her glares at her, "closely." The girl tugged her arm away from her and took a defensive step back. Neri's face spread into a happy grin as she clasped her hands in front of her. "My brother is here visiting, he never comes to visit me anymore so I'll leave you to your thoughts," her eyes shone with something a little darker as her mood changed, "Consider what we've discussed carefully."

With that she turned and skipped out of the room, slamming the door behind her. She smiled at all the faces of the thieves den as she scanned the crowd for Dismas and her brother. Little Jake's eyes met hers, and knew exactly what she was searching for. He nodded at the exit as the door shut and chuckled. In return she nodded her thanks and darted off after them.

Vance | Thieve's Market with Dismas

"So, there's no way your going to give me the girl so I can sell her? You know I'll split the profits," Vance smiled over at his comrade as they walked through the thieve's market and towards the south gate. They wanted to check on those pesky soldiers again, they were really killing business around Tsila.

"No, the girl mustn't be harmed. We'll think of something to do with her, we always do," he replied as he scanned the market's beautiful, and stolen, items. Vance couldn't help but chuckle, the Thief king just couldn't help himself. If it's stolen, you can be sure it's been through Tsila's Den. One of their famous sayings played through the slave trader's head.

"Selling her would be something," Vance mumbled under his breath. He turned to reply, but froze. As Vance turned to see what he was staring at He was tackled to the ground with a flash of red. With a groaned he looked up into the playful eyes of his sister, "Hello, Neri. I'm sorry I didn't stop to say hello to you but I am a very busy man."

She climbed off of him and smiled up at Dismas for only a second before replying, "I know, brother. But you didn't honestly think you'd get away with it, would you?" She smoothed out the folds of her shirt before taking an adoring step towards Dismas, who had the most uncertain look on his face.

Vance chuckled, remembering that conversation we had when he had first discovered Neri's infatuation. They had agreed to just play along with her, the last thing we needed was an angry Neri on their hands. An angry Neri was a dangerous Neri, to both those around her and herself.

"We were just on our way to check on the soldiers, would you like to join us little sister?" he smiled wickedly over at Dismas as she nodded vigorously.
"Even in the end --even in death-- I can't hate you." - Neri Hereford's last words.

"The Gods demand blood, for they... do not bleed." Jaska.

Cyrilla - South Gate

Cyrilla stubbornly wrapped her coat tighter around herself while the wind kept ripping off her hood and tangle her hairs. She regretted deciding to go outside at all and to be lost on the streets where thieves and thugs hunted at night didn't feel like a good thing at all. She had reached the southern gate and was now leaning against the wall while she was eyeing the moon who shone like an evil grin down on her.

Cyrilla sank down against the wall and tried to shade herself from all light and not be discovered by any thieves, she enjoyed observing them from afar in the daylight when she was surrounded by the safety of the crowd. She liked to watch how the thieves and orphans behaved knowing she was watching a life that she could have had under other circumstances, but she didn't like this, sitting in the cold, dark all by herself, exposed.

She held her breath as a young man looking like a thief in his torn clothes and dark, wild hair approahed. But he walked with pride, as if he was better than everyone else, as if he was powerful. Cyrilla flinched when the mans cold eyes met hers and she clenched her fists and frantically thought You didn't see me, You didn't see me, You didn't see me. She had the power to fog people's memories, and make brief changes but that required the person being easily manipulated or just have a thin pshycic wall - this man didn't seem like the kind but on the other hand... it was dark, she was just a silhouette, maybe she'd manage. You cannot see me!
"Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice." - Robert Frost

But answer me this: how can a story end happily if there is no love?
