If I thought this would happen,
I wouldn't have let you sit by me that day.
If I thought this would happen,
I would have ignored you more often,
And have ignored you for real.
If I thought this would happen,
You wouldn't have gotten to me,
You wouldn't have been able to write me that poem,
That stupid, ridiculous, utterly sweet poem,
And then force me to hang it in my locker where I'd see it continuously.
If I thought this would happen,
I wouldn't have been embarrassed when you accused me of liking you,
When you said I blushed,
When you said you'd change schools and I blurted out "NO!"
If I thought this would happen,
You never would have gotten the chance to call your friend,
He would have never gotten the chance to ask me that question,
The question I didn't believe and completely ignored,
And therefore was ignored by you.
If I thought this would happen,
Would you really think I would have let you sit by me that day in art?
Because if I thought this would happen,
I would not be sitting here,
Feeling like an idiot,
Writing this poem about how if I thought this would happen.
