Hey YWS

I am super stoked to be here! You guys seem super talented and friendly for the hour I have been online. A little about me, I am going into my final year of high school. I have been writing since grade 7, poetry especially. Mainly to cope with things that I found difficult. I want my writing to become a more prominent part of my life. I am a big "feeler", and I want my readers to feel when they read my work. I am new at posting stuff :P but I really would love reviews to contain constructive advice! I want to become better writer, and I truly believe you guys can help me achieve just that! :D

Hey there. I'm proud to be the first person to post because it makes me feel special >:) hehehehe. jk jk. But I better post this fast before some other jerk comes and posts before I can -__-. Again...jk jk. But on to the serious part.

Welcome to YWS!!! (that's not the serious part)

Here, it is full of smart people, I can tell you that. Very helpful also so when you run across a tough reviewer, don't be intimidated because most of the reviews you get improve your writing so it can be just as good as those already published books you see in the library or at book stores. To be honest, most of the stuff I read online is somewhat way better than whatever I could pick up at the library.

Also, review a lot if you're a person who likes to write at a constant pace. Points are very important here. They're for your benefit. Also, you get more followers that way which means supports and fans.

Don't be sad if someone says they're not a fan of your writing even when you worked so hard on it because we can't please everyone. With different genres come different readers.

Make sure to check your grammar and spelling efficiently because it's a common mistake and it will turn off your readers. Also, good description and flow will certainly reel your readers in. But most of all, don't try too hard. To me, writing is like playing the piano. A pianist must relax their fingers and a pianist can play for hours without getting tired. What can tire a pianist is if they tense up their fingers. So make sure to relax your mind.

Well I think I said enough. If you have anymore more questions, ask Nate and pm me if you want.

Well good luck and I hope to come across a work by you.

Hey there unmarkedterritory! Welcome to YWS!
I'm going to call you...UMT  Yes, very 'original'.

Anyway, yes this site is great and has lots of crazy fun people with great imaginations and skills. I hope you like it here and I see you're already fitting in so there's no need to worry.

Feel free to ask around for help if you have any questions--- there are always happy people ready to give you a hand. And to review your work! :smt002

What type of poetry do you write? Oh, yeah, since you're an emotional person (^like you said up there) I guess you write mostly lyric poetry to express your emotions. Right? Do you also write stories?

What type of stories/poems do you like reading?

Oh, oh, oh, do you speak another language? Because there are forums for Spanish, French, Hindi, Filipino...

Well, I best be off. I hope you enjoy yourself and that I see you and your work around!

Hi Unmarkedterritory!
Welcome to YWS! I'm fairly new too. I joined at the end of July.

I'm glad that you like it so far! I like it too. On Google Chrome there's a page at the beginning of a new tab which tells me my most used websites - this is it!

Sadly I'm not a poet (although I'm thinking of trying to write a poem) but there are loads of people who are willing to help. Reviews will come to you, FAST! :D I remember the first bit of work I posted - I started checking my notifications obsessively to see if anyone thought I was any good :) I have to say, thanks to YWS I finally realised why my first drafts are so short.

(Angel, you and Katlyn beat me to first post, ggrr! xD Lol, Just kidding)
Actually, that reminds me. Apart from LOL and one or two other abbreviations, chatspeak isn't allowed on YWS. Pretty much most things have been said by Angel, but I will say that feel free to ask the Moderators (the people in green) if you need help. You can post on the Questions and Answers section for site related questions.

Finally, I will say that it costs 100 points to post a piece of work but every review (above 250 characters) will give you around 50 points and more if you're the first/second to review. Review and you'll get lots of reviews... Trust me :)

Welcome once again!
Mac

Hey a belated welcome, and you should mark your territory before someone steps on your toes!!!:D
The moment you say that one set of moral ideas can be better than another, you are, in fact, measuring them both by a standard, saying that one of them conforms to that standard more nearly than the other. C. S. Lewis
