Spoiler
Just a warning, I've only run through this once looking for grammatical errors and generally making sure it makes some sense and flows a little. So it's probably pretty crummy still. Characters aren't exactly explained yet--you're just being tossed into the action. You don't even figure out who the main character really is, huzzah!
Frantically I push at every one of the sliding doors down the white walled hall, only to find that none were unlocked. Far down the hall I come to a door that doesn't need opening--the wall around it is seared, and the sound of cracking fire and electricity allow a guess to what happened to the door before I see it: it's been blown out of the wall.
I give a quick glance down the rest of the hall, specifically at the three other doors on either side I haven't yet checked. At the end of the hall are two large sliding doors, but I doubt I can open them. I look through the broken wall where a door once was again; I hardly see anything beyond the blown doorframe, for smoke billows in the room behind it. Forgetting that option, I run to the end of the corridor.
I stop dead in front of the huge doors. I press a giant red button off to their side. I'm not sure if the button was supposed to be pressed--a numeric keypad lies under it. At the button's pressing suddenly the hallway begins to quake. The doors slam open, all of them. One by one they sound like bullets as they slide open. The doors infront of me join the others, they slide open slowly.
I sprint through the large doors into a hanger. The hanger is empty, and all I hear is eery silence. Somewhere something clinks, almost like something is dropping. Suddenly the clink turns into a bang. I turn carefully, looking for anything that shows sign of another presence.
"Oh well look at this." I spin to look up at the ceiling. Poised perfectly in the far corner of the hanger is Misha, the assistant of the Fallen Leader Jiro told me about. Her face goes from confidant and aloof to visciuos. She bares her teeth through her smile. She drops from the corner to the floor, her hand resting aggressively on her hip.
"The stupid little human girl." She laughs at her words. She runs a hand coyly through her shocking red hair.Jiro had gone after Misha earlier, which is making her presence infront of me even more horrifying--what had she done to Jiro?
"I am not human." I spit.
"Oh, so you're an Exalt then?" Her laughs become full bodied laughter. "So you'll be able to, I don't know, take this?" She darts forward and I feel a pummeling pain in chest. I hit the stairs leading to the second floor of the hanger and slump to the ground. My vision darkens but when it clears all I see is Misha prancing toward me holding her mouth in laughter.
"I-" I push myself upward, feeling blood dribbling from my mouth. "am and Agkelos." I pull the blaster from the left of my belt and fire several shots at Misha. She dodges each shot easily.
"You idiot." She lunges for me and knocks me off my feet again. I land on the floor this time and fire another shot as she attempts to kick me. I roll and kick her leg out from under her. Evidently I'd hit her one leg, forcing her to hop on one. Both on the floor now, she pins me by putting a strangle hold on me.
Briefly I can't breathe. I beat her frantically with my blaster and fist. She takes the blaster with one hand and throws it across the hanger. I attempt to get up while she only has one hand around my neck, but it's a futile attempt.
"Tell me how shaming it's going to be to be killed with your own weapon." She snarls, keeping a firm hold on my neck, allowing just enough leeway to allow me to get a few gulps of air here and there. I don't know what she's talking about, but her crouched position leaves the pressure point at the base of her neck open. Thinking quickly I jab the pressure point with the strength I can muster.
She grunts and flops back. I shove her off and run for my blaster. When I reach it and turn around Misha is just starting to rise off the ground. She sees me and leaps. I shoot several times--the blaster is rapid fire, because Jiro knew I wouldn't be too accurate. But to my suprise I am slightly accurate. I hit her once on the shoulder. Outraged now, she begins to move dangerously fast, zig zagging till she's at my side.
She slams the side of my head and I slump backward. As I fall she grabs my neck again and slams me against the wall. I see glitter and black, and she smashes my right hand, forcing the blaster from my hand. I scream and then groan a bit. My hand feels absolutely obliterated.
"It's ashame this got prolonged to this point." She hisses. She fiddles somewhere near my waist, and I realize she's getting the gun from my right holster. I nearly smile. She rips the gun from my belt and screams. The soft music coming from the gun causes her to fall in a heap on the floor. I fall too. I watch Misha as she writhes, but somehow manages to aim the gun at me.
I groan and try to think. I force myself to kick the gun carelessly and weakly from her hand. It skids about five feet from us, and she screams repeatedly till eventually the screams fall to a never ceasing groan. She holds her ears and rocks. Blood drips from both her pointed ears. I stand unsurely, almost falling from pain and exhaustion. I bend to pick up the singing gun with my left hand. Then I turn to look at Misha and walk to her.
Once I stand I let myself acknowledge that my right hand is broken, I can see a bone popping through my skin. That's going to be tough to explain to mom. My blaster is done too--It's in three pieces on the floor. I gather the pieces anyway, and start for the exit. Misha doesn't seem to know that I go.
I walk slowly, putting the singing gun back in it's holster despite my fear of doing so. I exit through a door across from the one I entered though into the hanger. It leads me to a smaller hallway with several windows and a doorway at the other side. I sigh and try to block out the pain of my screaming body as I start down toward the door.
I only make it a few paces down the doorless hallway when the door flies open from the hanger behind me--another Fallen, a male this time, stares at me in rage. He's bleeding from his mouth and nose; he looks rabid. He's probably in his early twenties with buzz cut hair. He jets forward, running right toward me.
Frantically I begin attempting to run. I can hear the Fallen's ragged breathing behind me before I get knocked to the floor. I realize then, as I roll around to look up at him, that he holds the data disks, the one's Base 64 is here for. He pulls a fist back to punch me and I slide before he hits me. Desperate, I reach for my right holster, to get the singing gun, but his body ontop of mine makes it hard to grab it. He stands, looking behind him as though something were following him. I rip the singing gun from my holster and watch as he falls.
I take the data disks, while giving a quick glance on the energy life of the gun--it's nearly dead. In desperation and lack of anywhere to put the disks, I shove them down my guardsuit into my sports bra. I hobble toward the end of the hall; it's an openmouthed doorway that leads to who knows where, and the humming of the gun begins to fade. Panicking now I stumble into the open and look back to see the Fallen in the hallway coming to his feet. But suddenly Tank is there in the hall, tackling the Fallen before he can stand.
The room I've come across is a control room of sorts. It's spacious and packed with monitors, keyboards and buttons. Halo and Abia emerge from one of the many doors on the other side of the giant room, obviously following the dying sound of the singing gun. Worry laces their eyes, and I try to act nonchalant, like II'm not in severe pain. I don't want them to worry.
Halo quickly runs toward me, her eyes widening in horror as she scoops off her helmet and her blonde hair flames out like a cape behind her.
"Z!" She gasps. I can see the rage in her eyes, and the pain and perhaps tears.
"What happened?!" Abia demands. I do my best to smile. Abia picks me up, hoisting me in her arms like a doll. "We need to get her to the ship." Halo nods and both start running from where they came from. I don't protest, I don't say anything. I'm smart for once, and realize I need to let them get me out of here. I want to ask them if they know where Jiro is, but I stay silent.
I stop trying to count the number of halls and doors we go through to the ship; this Fallen facility seems endless. But the building is the same all the way through. It's built very similarly to an Exalt base; gray doors and walls made of metal, buttons here and there on the walls, numeric keypads to unlock doors--the only thing the facility is lacking is windows. We don't pass a single window.
Little red headed Iggy gives us three a strange look as we pass him--he's the on 64ian I see no our dash to the ship. He's bent facing a removed metal panel that was once a wall piece. Wires are in his hands and his small computer with other gadgets are at his side. Iggy is so little, I wonder how such a big brain fits in his skull.
That's the last I remember--Iggy's firey red hair. My eyes droop and I hear Halo calling my name, but it's too late. I see the dark and it seems so welcoming for once. I ebb into unconciousness.
