The minutes tick on
The clock is counting,
Down the time goes.
Yet still it's not fast enough.
A day passes,
still not enough.
Another and another.
But still no word.
My worry for you
Grows to a nagging
persistence thought.
Its only been a week.
A long agonizing week its been.
Five years to go I remember.
I don't know if I can hold on that long.
I want to know if your happy.
Are you happy, sister?
Please don't ever forget
That I'm still here.
You've seen so much.
Things kids your age shouldn't.
You know the game
Our mother plays.
She doesn't seem to notice,
That she has ripped us apart.
Her foolishness has left us scarred.
We smile and laugh
Like a a treacherous denial
Of what really is our mom.
You miss me yes?
Don't worry I won't leave
Not when we are back together.
I'm sorry for the pain and the wait.
Five more years to go.
I don't want to let go
Of that smiling face
But the last we spoke
Was filled with tears
And laced with pain.
Please be happy my sister
We won't be apart for too long.
Hang on for us, my darling.
Be strong. Be happy.
For that is all I want.
