Love is a butterfly.
It alights upon my knee,
Twitching its wings,
Looking up at me.
But it won't stay for long,
I know.
Even love has to go.

The butterflies, they slowly crawl
On their quest
To find the heart beating
Within my chest.
Not all make it -
Some will fly.
Even love has to die.

Friends blink vibrant yellow,
Lovers blush crimson red,
But some choose
To fade instead.
Some I cannot keep
Forever.
Others leave altogether.

In the end,
It's all the same.
Love is a butterfly,
And love is a game.

Spoiler
I know this isn't my best but I hope you enjoyed it anyway. :) Any criticism is appreciated!

Your poem is beautiful!

The butterflies, they slowly crawl
On their quest
To find the heart beating
Within my chest.
Not all make it -
Some will fly.
Even love has to die.

I love how in the end you say love has to die.

Friends blink vibrant yellow,
Lovers blush crimson red,
But some choose
To fade instead.
Some I cannot keep
Forever.
Others leave altogether.

Bringing the colors to the poem and then saying they fade is amazing!

I love it all together!
Keep it Up!

A really good poem, cute and sad at the same time :). It makes me smile. Love is beautiful thing but yeah it has to go away sometime, no matter how strong.... That's the tragedy of it. "Even love has to die" I love this line. Keep up the good work and best of luck :)
If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!

"Even love has to go...Even love has to die...Others leave altogether...And love is a game." I like the topic of your poem. I thought it's something like an inspirational theme (as the love-theme always are) because of your title. But it turned out to be something dark inside only if you didn't use butterflies. When you said "Love is a butterfly", I told myself "Oh common." But no! I was wrong. Thumbs up! Keep writing :D

Sweet! This was a delightful thing to read, it created a vivid picture of love and I like the symbolism with the butterflies. They are, like love can be, beautiful to watch and see but they're so hard to catch and keep! The flow of this piece was pretty good, like the rythm... eh, punctuation! That's good, both thumbs up! Somehow... this poem was quite sad and should be depressing to read as love seems so impossible to gain but it didn't give me that feeling, can't say if this was good or bad but overall I just thought this was cute, beautiful and well-written!

3½/5 icky spiders to you!

Good Luck & Keep Writing

"Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice." - Robert Frost
