Hai, welcome to the site my domain! It's nice to see you've finally got around to joining us ^^ I would link you to the buddy system and all that I was telling you about, except that would be a little pointless since if you get confused you can just ask me!

Have a wander around and see what you can find. There's a chat that's linked on the main page, general discussion forums in the lounge and stuff and of course the literary forums.

See you around,

Hi there. :] Welcome to YWS, W0lfbane. It's cool you joined the site! I can almost guarantee you're going to love it here, everyone else sort of seems to. ^-^ But that's an obvious fact!

There's a lot to do around here in case you haven't completely finished checking everything out yet. I hope you enjoy everything the site has to offer. There's a lot of fun to be had as well as a lot of really cool people to meet along the way. --Virtually that is. If you have any questions at all or just find yourself in need of an honest and thorough review, don't hesitate to ask me. I'd be glad to help with whatever. Just post a comment on my wall or PM(private message) me, and I'll get back to you for sure! I have a bad habit of not coming back to welcome threads I've posted on. D:

But anyway! Glad to have you on the site, and welcome again.

Ha, I was just like you. I lurked for weeks before saying, "Effff it, let's make an account because I'm bored" and I'm glad I did. We have poetry, short stories, novels, etc. Find what ever you're interested in and get involved. I would love to read something that you wrote.
If words are just letters put together, why do we decide on what they mean?

I step away from the grammar to review the story.

I don't do poetry.

Hello again, W0lfbane! :D Here's to a proper welcome, ja?

So yeah! Welcome to YWS! I was like you when I first joined, like, a bazillion years ago. Funny how YWS hasn't changed much in that respect! I would flounder around as much of the site as I could, wondering if I could find a place here. Eventually, I decided it didn't hurt to at least join. And voila! Here I am, a bazillion years later! It actually took me a few months to decide that, yeah, I should really get involved here. Everyone learns at their own pace! ;D

Mkay, so I'm pretty well known for, like. talking. But I'm curious! What kinds of things do you write? We've got a section for just about everything. I, myself, write stories and such. I've dabbled in scripts, which I fine absolutely fun and refreshing after working on prose. YWS also has the Storybooks section, which also builds off of story-writing. However, there are some awesome poets on the site who enjoy Storybooks just as much, so you might as well stop by and join one if you haven't already!

Don't forget to stop by the clubs either. Chances are, there's one for any of your interests in or out -side of writing, and they're a great way to get to know members (let alone the Community forums). But you probably know generally what all those are, if you were like new-member-me and checked all the things out beforehand!

I'll see you around. :D Welcome! And don't be afraid to chat me up if you want!

I'm not really a writer to say, I just read books now and then... Literacy is something I don't normally venture into, hence why I had trouble getting a C in English. Most of my interests revolve around computers - yep just an average joe computer nerd :P I don't really get out much, usually I spend most of my time indoors. Bullying is what put me off making too many friends. I like playing basketball, but there aren't really any clubs in the area - I usually have to travel for that.

Employment wise, I want to get a job either in Admin or as a Computer Games Programmer: I already have a diploma in Software Development and I have not only experience on working on a till, but I also have experience in Admin as I have worked for the District Council a few times. My ECDL (European Computer Driving License) and my Business in Admin qualifcations should be arriving soon and this year I'm off to Uni to aim for that Computer Games Programming qualification.

If any of that doesn't get met noticed in the gaming industry, I don't know what will - personally I think gaming industries aren't taking too many chances which, not only leads to their downfall: but it means less inventive games are being released into the market. I don't just have ideas for first person shooters, I have ideas for all kinds of genres: and getting my foot in the door, is the first step to success.

Although I feel like I'm talking off topic - back to your comment asking me what I write: at the moment I'm looking at Fantasy, it's a good way to start off inventive writing as it allows your imagination to let loose, you want to write about horror? No problem, with Fantasy you can write about a rogue that goes on a killing rampage terrorising villagers and slaughtering livestock - or you could play it safe like the other writers and write about Dragons. =/

Fantasy isn't just one genre - it can combine a range of genres: Comedy, Adventure, Magic, Family Saga, Historical Fiction, Mystery, Romance *queue Zoro*...

I hope I can learn to enjoy writing as much as you guys, if I need anything in my life right now- it's inspiration.

Dude, you've no idea how extremely awesome you are. If I could like that post a gazillion times, I would. But it would only show up as one like anyway (or, well... zero, since gazillion is an even number).

I'm also working on a degree in computer science, my aim being the game industry. It's funny how I judge stories based on how fun of a video game they could be! I agree with everything you said regarding it, and just like you, I'm hoping to make a difference in that regard. Maybe we'll create competing/joint game companies! o:

Anyhow, YWS is still a good place for you then! There are a lot of neat ideas floating around the forums anyway. It gets your creative juices flowing whether you're a writer or not. And I've no doubt you'll have some awesome feedback for the writers here (who might end up writing the stories for video games one day)!

But basically, I'm almost exactly the same way at this point. I'm pretty convinced I won't publish anything any time soon, but I certainly know my dream job, and I'm pretty focused on obtaining that in whatever way I can. Besides, there are a lot of people who forget that writing is very important to know how to do no matter your job choice. So you'll be all extremely awesome in comparison with some of your co-workers!
