So, while digging through the art forums looking at all the pretty pictures people have submitted, I found xXTheBlackSheepXx's wonderful work, "When A Princess Draws Arms". I felt inspired to draw my own warrior princess :D

My technical drawing skills are no where near as good as Blacksheep's, but I thought I would share what I came up with. ^^

Apparently she's more of a melee kind of gal, yet still wears the most cumbersome clothes... princesses will be princesses, I guess.

Comments and reviews are welcome! I am always trying to figure out what I should work on next

Aloo~

It. is. amazing! I love the way you've done your background! I can never quite get that texture. You used sponge for the background? :O

Oh and at the end, where the dress ends, I think a little of her leg should show. Above the word 'most' from your post. [Haha! Rhymes! ^^]

The collar area behind her neck. I think it should cover most of the neck. Allow only little, very little, neck to show.

Other than that, its amazing! I love the blade!

Keep painting!
I would love to see more! :)
If I were to have a super power, it would be to time-travel, so that I could turn back time, and erase your very existence.

hey Nutty!
Your drawing is really amazing. I love everything about it; the princess, the blade & the background. After I have seen your drawing, I'd have to disagree with you, your drawing & technical skills are awesome! However, I kinda disagree with Justtrying, the legs don't have to be visible since the dress in not completely drawn from the bottom.
I am feeling curious about which program did you chose for painting your drawing, if you don't mind telling of course.

That's really good, but maybe it's not your style or you didn't for another reason but I think it would be cool if maybe you had an eye showing, it would add a lot more detail :)
And I agree with the others, it would be much better if some leg was showing as it looks like she has no legs!
Anyway it's really cool and I really like the background!

All of my drawings are done with Artrage. =D Thanks guys!

Edit: Also, the background is a airbrush tool. ^^

I like the round thing behind her neck, almost like the guard around a bomber's suit.
The plainness of the background bothers me a bit. I feel like it should be some kind of battle scene with a red sky or whatever.
Another point: the arm on the left (her right arm) is too skinny and too long.
Other than that, it's amaxing!

I'm so glad you linked me to this ^_^

I love her outfit, I love the whole way you styled her actually. It's really unique! The neck thing, the colors, the weapon, the way her hair is styled, I love all of it :) It feels just like this girl was plucked out of some story. I also love how you have her back facing towards us, it almost draws me more towards her.

The shading is very well done from what I can see. It looks like you have 2-3 tones for each color, so good job! The skirt I think is especially well done, I get the sense of texture from it, which is not easy with all those flowy wrinkles.

I have a few comments that I think could make this a little better.
1) The weapon stick is not very straight x) I'd make it less wobbly.
2) Her arms. The right one is ok, but the left is way too small. If she straightened out her arm, it would be a lot shorter than her other one. The elbow would lay against the top part of her stomach, when it should dangle just above her hips.
3) I would choose a different background. I was picturing something lighter, even the basic half and half grass/sky would work. The problem with the black is that it covers up her eyelash, which is a very nice tough to her face but hardly visible. Also, the grey weapon doesn't stand out very well. I think another reviewer suggested a red sky, and that would look great too. I would try something that would give her a sense of location.

I'm so glad my pic helped inspire you to draw something of your own, you are obviously a talented artist and I hope you keep drawing more after this! Keep up the incredible work!! :D
