A newb wanders through the troll-infested woods of the world wide web. 'Tis a refugee of the fallen kingdoms, whose grand firewalls could not withstand the Raiders of Cheat-Engine. This newb had faught her way through many troll encampments, seeking the perfect writing community. As she peered into the distance, another encampment caught her eye. The newb advanced toward the site with a bundle of hope, wishing for a welcome to the final destination.

Hullo there! :D
Two of my good friends who have enjoyed writing since pre-k have dragged me into this hobby. I am a beginner, do not expect my literary works to be amazing. This seems like a decent young writers community. I scanned through some of the novels at Discover Works. Most of them seem great!

My favorite novels are The Hobbit(and other literary works of Tolkien) and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn. Before I attempt at writing a novel, I think a few short stories would be good practice. I'm not so sure what else I could add to this post...

Hey Hobbit!

I don't know why, but I think you would find the Storybook forum to be a lot of fun. It's a great place to practice writing scenes, test out new characters, and otherwise learn how to weave a story.

I've tried out those type of forums before. I always have this strange fear of posting the next part of the story too late. There should be a word for that...

Hello there, Hobbit. Welcome to YWS! I am Masq. I'm sure you'll find YWS to be a lovely place to learn more about writing and improve your skills. What kind of writing are you interested in doing? What genres?

@Masquerade
Novels and short stories. I like writing fantasy, as long as there's plenty of adventure involved. I also write an occasional parody, but I don't really consider that song-writing or a lyric poem.

Short stories are a great way to develop your writing in terms of style, voice, and character development. I hope to read some of your work soon. :)
I loved your introduction - very original. :P

'Let's eat Grandma!' or, 'Let's eat, Grandma!' Punctuation saves lives.
