Look at me!
What do you see?
Do you see a hero? A saint?
Or, am I so terrifying that I make grown men faint?
Am I beautiful, like a dove?
Or is it a face that only a mother could love?
Look at me!
What do you notice?
Have you noticed sadness?
Have you only seen happiness?
Does my laugh seem more forced than it used to?
Or is that more observation than you care to do?
Listen,
What do you hear?
You hear nothing,
Why?
It's because you're not listening.
Not really.
It's because you're away,
Far, far away.
Then, to come home with the same excuse day after day.
You lie,
You curse,
You've only made me cry.
You break my hands,
And with that my spirit.
Then, just to go back out in foreign lands.
Listen,
What do you hear?
Silence,
That's what you like to hear.
Look,
What do you see?
You see that my spirit is not broken!
That now, finally, I am free!
Now I shall go away,
Far, far away.
I shall go out into foreign lands.
Where you cannot break me.
Where you cannot hurt me.
Now you see,
Now you hear,
But, it's too late,
Because now, I am free.
Of you're excuses,
And our forgotten love.
