Definitely the new kid..

I've written my whole life but I never knew there was a place I could share it with the world as easily as I can here! I've had a tough day .. month .. year so I wrote to vent. Then found this place! So I posted it But I'm very confused haha anybody wanna fill me in on what points are and what they mean?

About the points issue, you should review others works in order to gain points. The more reviews you make, the more points you have. If you would like to post any of your work here, that costs points. I just knew this from my little experience I gained here from YWS. I am still discovering this website too. There are too much to see here ...

Hey, Rubz. :] Welcome to YWS! It's great to have you. I'm sure you may be feeling slightly newbish as of yet, but I wouldn't worry in the slightest. You'll get use to this place real quick like, trust me.

Now, as for your question about points. Pretty much by reviewing you will earn points. And points are good for mainly posting new literary works. It costs 100 points to post a new literary work and I think 500 for a storybook. You can also use your points to buy YWS book marks and stickers I think, if I'm not mistaken. So yeah, you earn points by reviewing. The most you can earn for one review is 50. Your review should at least be 250 characters or more. Normally we like to see reviews go above the 250 character mark though. ^-^ Good stuff.

Anyhow, that's the gist of how point thing works. It's really not that complicated once you start reviewing enough. You'll get the hang of things. But in the mean time, if you have any other questions, this thread here might be of great help to you if you give it a glance over. Feel free to post a comment on my wall or shoot a PM(private message) my way though if you need any help with anything else, or are ever in need of an honest review. ^-^ I'll be quick to get back to you.

You get points from posting reviews on other peoples work, and you spend points by posting your own stories/poems on YWS. You can donate people points by clicking on donate, and you can also "follow" someone, by click "Follow ____" this allows you to be notified of what the person has done (Posted a new novel, ect) Notifications at the top of the page show you any replies form forums you posted on. If you have any more questions, feel free to post on my wall.

It looks like the others gave you an abundance of information regarding points. There's one other use for points, and that's the gifts feature. If you go to someone's profile (or your own!), you'll find a gifts tab. Click that, and you can choose to send that user a gift. (There's also a button to the left here <== that says "Give gift"!) It's a fun token of gratitude or just plain fun to send to your friends!

Anyhoodles, how are you liking the site so far? I'm glad you posted your work already! If you have any questions regarding the site (any at all!), don't hesitate to send me a PM or post a message on my wall. I'm more than willing to lend a hand. I was a confused user when I first joined too!

Do you do anything outside of writing? Games or sports? Music or art? There are a lot of members here, and each of them have their own unique interests outside of writing. You'll easily fit in and find some close friends!
