I really like where this story is going! Are the missing/killed child and the wolf connected? Did the wold kill the child? OH THE SUSPENSE!…Suspense and loose ends are really good in this chapter chapter, because it holds the readers attention. I also liked the cliff hanger ending to the chapter. Now I can't wait to see the next instalment! One thing I would say is develop your secondary characters a bit more, especially Lauren and Zeda, but I'm assuming we'll get to know them better as the plot develops. Please keep writing this fascinating tale!
