Ubiquitous Introductions

Well, hello there.
Seems as though I've stumbled upon something potentially wonderful and useful. At least I hope so.

I'm a writer by trade, or at least I claim to be. The hope is that someday that statement will be true and backed by royalty checks,yes? I was just accepted into the writing program at a university on the coast. It's supposedly ridiculously hard to get into so the following is a portrait of how I feel about that

Anyway I'm really looking forward to getting to know you and having a chance to participate, not only in the posting but the reviewing part as well.
I don't know if anyone else feels seperate from the rest of the human race to some extent. Sometimes I worry that there is a fine line between solitude and loneliness that as writers we constantly dance along. I'm glad to have found this place though. Perhaps it'll make the solitude more bareable.

You'll find that we're all pretty crazy and friendly here, and though the site is huge, you'll make friends quickly, especially if you just start following people. First of all, congratulations on getting accepted to such a prestigious university on matters of writing! It's a good testament to your writing skills, and it'll be absolutely wonderful to have you on.

Right now, we aren't allowing new works to be posted, but it's only a once-a-month thing so we can concentrate on reviewing each other's work, so no worries! You'll be able to post sometime tomorrow. And, when you do, shoot me a message. I would love to read your writing! Well... if you post it, anyway.

I think you're right, about the whole separation thing. Writers can seem a bit strange because we're so well-rounded and everything. I think people are afraid of us, especially when we start talking about the best way to kill [such-and-such] a character. It kind of freaks them out. XD

Also, it's great that you're looking forward to reviewing as well, after all, where would this site be if nobody reviewed? Nowhere near as awesome as it is now. Anyway, as Snoink said, today is currently review day, so we can only review people's work and we aren't allowed to post new work up. But don't worry it's only for a day. You can post your up tomorrow. We're also having review teams in this review day. Which is great, it encourages a bit of competition and it makes people feel more inclined to review. So, the review team thing is great all round.

I think that's all there is to say at the moment. Look forward to seeing you around the site.

hey there PlasticStarlight! (we almost got the same nick names here, I am starlight9 but with different talents. My main talent here is drawing and I am looking forward to writing something here soon.
I wish you would have fun here in YWS, and I can tell you, as a new member here, I love this site and the people here are amazing!
The main reason for me to join such network is the solitude issue you have been talking about. (Seems that the solitude is the company for artists as well as writers.) I used to hate it when nobody criticizes my work and just getting compliments but here you would great reviews that would really help you to improve your work but remember you have to review others work as well.

Hello there fellow soon-to-be college student! I'm probably not going to major in English, but I plan on taking creative writing classes where I'm going (I won't say where, but somewhere on the west coast of the USA). I congratulate you on getting into your university of choice and I wish you luck in becoming a published writer.
