Hello, my name is Taptoe :D

Hi everybody! My name is Taptoe, and I chose it because I love music and I get crazy feet every time I hear it. I can't wait to get to know the people here on this forum, but first I'll tell you a little about me.

1) I've been writing since I was four years old.
2) I love animals and have one cat and four fish.
3) I sing in a choir.
4) I want to learn to play guitar but can't afford one yet.
5) I ride Western and barrel race.
6) I volunteer at an animal shelter.
7) I'm about to get my driver's permit (if I pass the test o.O)
[Probably a no-brainer] I LOVE to read, especially fantasy
9) I haven't gotten anywhere with any story I've been writing recently and
10) I hope to change that

Hey, Taptoe. Cool name. ^-^ You can call me Smylin'. It's really great to have you here with us on YWS. I'm sure you're gonna love it. We've been getting a lot of cool newcomers. They all seem to be fitting in just nicely. I'm sure you won't be any different!

So, you've been writing since you were four years old. Pretty impressive. I'd say I started around 5th or 6th grade. I didn't know I liked it until I started reading more and giving it a go myself. But ever since then it's been a great hobby! You also say you love animals. ^-^ I have two dogs and two cats. I use to have a hamster, but they don't seem to live very long. 0_o That's cool that you volunteer though! Great stuff for a future resumee.

Anyway, really I just wanted to say welcome before I go off and ramble with my aimless small talk. Also, if you ever have any question you can feel free to ask me. I'd be glad to help you out. Hey, Laura and Smylin'. Thanks for saying hello.

I've had two Syrian hamsters in the past (named Bucky and Sandy) and I'd love to get a pair of guinea pigs. Unfortunately, my mom hates rodents of all types. So nix that.

I've written all sorts of things...fantasy, realistic fiction, scifi. But (confession time ) I am wonderful about starting stories, and horrific about ending them. I do not have a finished work to date. But I'm trying to be disiplined and actually FINISH something before I decided to START something else. haha My favorite fantasy series(es? lol) are Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, the Books of Pellinor, the Books of Bayern (or pretty much anything by Shannon Hale). I also love Sarah Dessen, but she's not fantasy.

hi tap (its so awkward for me to say your full name,taptoe)! You are in the right track. This is the best writing community on the web. Because it doesn't only showcase your works but people in the community will help you gain gravity and place in the writing and publication world. I've read many testimonies that says they had gained confidence to publish their works, they improved in writing, and most of all many gained friends. So, if you wanna have your work in the future to be reviewed, you can just approach me. And i will review it merciless. (evil laugh) Hahaha! I'm just kidding.

Anyway, I have to ask, since you ride horses and write fantasy fiction (which is an awesome combination, by the way...) Do you have lots of horses in your novels and such? Or horse-like creatures, such as unicorns and pegasuses and those sorts of things? That would be awesome, I think.

Also, I find the trick in finishing things is to just be really persistent and love what you do. There's really no other way you can finish it. If you're lazy... well, you won't finish, simple as that. If you don't love your story, it will be drudgery to get anything finished. So, may I suggest a novel with horses, if you haven't started on already?

Yes, I like it here already. And calling me Tap is fine; I have so many nicknames that I've learned how to respond to anything. Haha

And yes!! I love to write about horses and magical things! I can't believe that I forgot to mention it, but I adore the Firebringer Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce!

I believe my main problem is attention span. Things don't go quite as I'd hoped and it's so much easier to just dump it and start on something new. But I really am trying to focus now. I don't know how original my idea is (probably not very) but I'm working on a story right now.
