Like the title says, I'm no professional photographer (I don't know anybody my age that is,) but I felt like sharing some images I've dug up on my camera. I'm fairly new, so after getting to know me, how about you get to know my birds?

I'm open to constructive criticism, because that should mold me into a better photographer for when I'm older c:

(Some of these images are quite big. Click on them so they fully show up, if they don't, comment and tell me please!)

01. One of my hens.

02. On of my parrots, Daphnee, after taking a bath. We named her Daphnee because she has something wrong with her legs, and the name sort of sounds like 'Daft knee'. Terrible pun, I know xD

03. I wasn't too fussed on this one, I just liked how cheeky this hen was by taking my mother's cigarette chair. And plus her head is in one of the three lines, something I can remember being taught in primary.

04. Her name's Bonny, because she's the bonniest hen of the bunch! (Even though I don't like picking favorites.)

05. This is Speedy, the fastest when we chose her. She's no longer with us, unfortunately. She had the biggest personality and led the others astray. She also loved harassing our guinea pig...

06. This is Daphnee again. You can see on one of her toes, the nail is missing. I have a larger, green, male parrot who bit her nail off. He bullies her quite a bit because of her disability, but he's started to be a lot nicer to her these days.

Thanks for making it to the end, and please leave a comment!

Edit: I was thinking about editing a few of these, so maybe I'll get round to some 'before and afters' and you can all tell me whether or not I'm good or bad at editing images.

Edit 2: I tried re-sizing them on Photobucket. But I don't see any difference. Sorry for causing a scrolly :c...

Hey! Okay. So. I'm trying to rush this because I need to remember what I wanted to say. haha. So firstly, chickens terrify me. So I screamed when I opened this. But anyway! I really liked your second photo, the one of the parakeet, the angle was really good and I don't think that one needs much editing at all. Everything about that photo was really interesting to me. And as for the photos of the chickens, maybe play around with the coloring a bit. They're nice photos, with my fear considered, but the color and the closeness can overwhelm people lol. Nice work =]

Thanks for the review, and my mother hates our hens too. I personally love them, but I guess they look little aliens, what with their freaky combs and such. I like the second the best, simply because of the sharpness and angle too. I guess you're right, Daphnee probably won't need editing, I personally think her blue hue is enough c: And I have a habit for taking close-up images. I was going to upload some far away shots of my green parrot, but they didn't seem as appealing as the rest.

Thanks again, and sorry for scaring you with the hen photos xD <3

Haha, thanks, you brightened my day with your lovely comment! And yes, he better! We've had him since he was a baby, and we've spoilt him rotten, but he's still not even tame to us or other birds... I can see Daphnee standing up for herself and picking on him one day!

I'll try uploading some more of just the parrots in future, and once again, thanks for the comment c:

Hi Rabbit! If you are having trouble with your re-sizeing here is a good link to help you out! I hope it can help you with some of your problems.

You may not be a professional, but these are really good for a beginner! I think your biggest problem is that you aren't taking cropping to your advantage. By taking off certain parts of a photo you can put focus on your subject instead of the distracting things that you also caught. Of course you can't do this with every photo, but it can help with a lot of them. You can crop easily with almost any editing program including paint.

Besides that I don't think you have any big problems. One thing I think you could play with more is you angles. Now, I know from experience that is really hard to take a good picture of a chicken! But right now you have all your pictures from one angle, the side. Try to take a picture from the front or the back. Or maybe you could snap a shot from directly above the chicken! Just play with it. The more photos you take the more good ones you will get so don't be afraid to take chances.

If you have any questions or if you crop your photos send me a p.M. I would love to see what you came up with. XD

Hope I helped,

Calli

Chickens!!!!! Love them! Brilliant shots!
If you want to be a great writer, don't think about what you're going to write, just write it.

I'm a huge fan of writers block! When your brain halts, with no direction for where you should go, it gives you threads. All you have to do is pull and unravel the story you're meant to write.

Wow, thanks Calli! I'll be taking your advise into account, I do intend on taking more of my birds and perhaps a few of my dog if he'll sit still, so it's nice to know of different shots I'll be able to take now. I wouldn't have though from directly above.

The only problem now is; how to make them stay still xD!

And thank you Butterfinger. I love chickens too, I'd keep 100 if I could :o

ohmegooodness! that hen reminds me of the time my dog ate five of them and then he left one in our yaard, they were neighbors so the rest of them were in his yard. It was really gross and it smell pretty bad my dad said we should cook it but I said no cause there was flies. Ick! Anyway your photos are super cute if you have photo shop or something you could make these freakin awesome looking photos. the chickens were my favorite because they had good angles and decent lighting so yah pretty cool

These are all really good! I love the angles on the pictures. They are very up close and personal. I love the second picture and the one with the hen sitting in your mom's chair :)
