W&M: Timothy David Mitchell
Based on Psalm 46.
Be still, my heart
Come and see what He’s done
Come, see what God has done
Be still, my heart
Be still, my heart
He makes the struggles cease
His foes bow at His feet
Be still, my heart
He alone can save
My Jesus, He alone can save
So be still, my heart
Be still and know the power exalted high
Exalt Him now, extol Him now
For He will never leave us
He will never leave us
Be still, my soul
Who formed the mighty heights?
And with a spark, ignites
fire in my soul?
This world is in uproar
Kingdoms shall rise and fall
Yet Your Word never fails
My soul, tranquil
He alone can save
My Jesus, He alone can save
So be still, my heart
Be still and know the power exalted high
Exalt Him now, extol Him now
For He will never leave us
He will never leave us

Spoiler
This song came just at the right time for me. I had been having no luck trying to write a new song, as I would only ever come up with a tune and no words. It was starting to become a songwriting drought for me.
I wrote this while working as videographer for the local theatre group when they were performing Beauty And The Beast. I had watched the play 4 times then - twice to get an idea of how to film it, and then filming it twice. Throughout, I was intrigued by two insignificant phrases from two of the songs in the play: “Be still, my heart” and “Trust in me”; two phrases I had grown up around with song wise from growing up in the Christian religion. Inspired to write a song based on the idea of either phrase, I started to tinker on the piano at home (ironically on opening night... during the day) and, after having much trouble, Googled “Be still my heart” for inspiration, with the results coming back to me as the verse from Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God”. I then wrote the song with references surrounding Psalm 46, and this is the result.
If you wish to hear a sample, please notify me and I will work towards making one.
