And the trees
I envy them;
How they stand tall and proud
while their summery world dies around them;
in burning shades of red, fiery oranges
and glowing yellows.
I run through their peaceful rain
and crackle through their bones
that lay rested as piles of leaves on the ground.
I want to eat them -
stuff their vibrant colours into my mouth
and hold their sorrowful song forever in my heart.
I want to shed my sins
like the trees do.
I want to hold their colours
forever in my heart.

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd & thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.

- Alfred Lord Tennyson

I have to say, this is a nice, simple poem. I especially like how you use figurative language to make the trees seem like living beings. I believe that you have a good title for this, and lots of good description. Keep writing!

Been quiet for a couple years, we'll see how this one goes.

Powerful, definitely thoughtful and a lot of interesting and compelling imagery. I don't think 'summery' is a word, but I could be very wrong, so I apologize if that's the case. Nice and simple, and good use of punctuation - something you don't see often in poems nowadays. Congratulations on some great work.
Being children of a cruel reality, we fall prey to the greater powers.
To envy.
To madness.
Betrayal.
Love.
And yet without these things, we cannot remain human. Without these things, we are nothing.
But it is the greatest sacrifice. To envy. To be mad. To betray. To love.
To be human.

Wow, a very beautifully written poem. I really like it and I couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. My favourite parts are:

This poem was full of imagery I could see every scene you painted with your words! I personally don't like to read my work over because I keep changing it, but it does help catch silly mistakes sometimes ;) You wrote friery I'm pretty sure you meant fiery. Other than that its wonderful!
