Day 1
This was made on Corel Painter, before I figured out that I had Photoshop Elements 8. XD Like I said, I haven't done much with shading, so this was kind of an experiment on that front. It is also currently my profile picture on Facebook. XD

Day
This one I made on Photoshop 8, experimenting with gradients, etc. It's also my current avatar here on YWS, edited a bit. XD
Spoiler

Yes, the corner stripey things are a little... Solid. Meh. :\ And the rainbow may or may not be there to distract from the awfulness of her hand.
Day 2
This was made in Photoshop, I used some of the brushes and stuff for the grass, the leaves, etc.

And Day 3 1/2, + Day 4
This one I think took the most work out of all of the above. It kind of follows the 'seasons' theme, like the autumn pic above, so a 'Spring' and 'Summer' might pop up somewhere along the line.
Spoiler

I know it's summer, but I sketched the hat, and from there it was all winter (and yes, I know his hat is too big. Imagine that he uses it to store things).
Certain parts of this gave me a heck of a time. Like his face. It's actually two faces layered on top of each other to get it the way it looks now. Still not entirely happy with it...
I love how (most of) the snow turned out, even though I have hardly any idea how I did it (a lot of my successes so far have been happy accidents. I'm still discovering various things). It involved the smudge tool. Lots of the smudge tool, as did the shading.
Also, the pink tint in the sky? A random temporary background that was way down in the stack of layers. It looked so cool I decided to keep it.
I think it could be better yet, but considering it's one of the first things I've ever made, I think it turned out at least semi-good.
So yeah, those are my first few experiments. I'll probably post more later, perhaps some character sketches/novel scenes...
Any tips on how to make images less pixel-y, or what sizes are average for drawing vs. posting places, and other technical stuff are welcome, since I'm still figuring those things out. And if anybody knows how to resize an image in Photoshop Elements 8 EASILY, preferably by pixels and not inches or whatever, that would also be extremely helpful.
Thanks for viewing. ^^
